I love, love, love Working Girl.

Best 80s movie ever.

“Is this the bus to Cartagena?”

Back in the 80s I worked with a cunt who must have been the inspiration for Katharine 'Kiki' Parker. Weaver is spot on.

Op left out "9 to 5" which is in between Romancing the Stone and Working Girl.

Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda.

What a weird mix.

In her introduction to Working Girl, Alicia Malone said that Sigourney Weaver was hired as insurance because Melanie Griffith wasn't a big name yet she made no mention of Harrison Ford who was a much bigger star at the time.

So they're finally just admitting they're not about golden age Hollywood any longer.

Quite possibly the worst movie theme song of all time.

Bite your tongue, r11!

by Anonymousreply 12July 9, 2025 4:44 AM

I totally agree, R11.

I HATE that song.

And what in the hell does "new jerusalem" mean anyway, in the context of that stupid song?

by Anonymousreply 13July 9, 2025 9:47 AM

I always found the final shot panning out of the building showing Tess is just another cog in the machine uniquely cynical.

The best part about watching Working Girl is seeing Melanie's weight fluctuate from scene to scene and wonder if she was stoned or sober. She was so out of it during Cyn's wedding scene that Mike Nichols docked her pay to cover overtime costs.
