Seems like people are getting them in their 50s these days.
How old were you when you got your first knee or hip replacement?

65 - only because I broke it when I tripped and fell

I'm 72 and still have all of my original equipment. Except for my lenses.

My husband had both knees done 19 years ago when he was 56. He was serious about the rehab postop and hasn’t had any problems since. The therapist from the VNA was great.

I’m not at that age yet but my aunt was 80 when she needed her knees replaced. She was heavy.
My mom was not that heavy and needed knee replacements by age 55. Go figure.

I was 60, but slipped and fell on my icy driveway. It was a traumatic injury, not degenerative disease.

I'll ask Michael Feinstein. I don't remember.

If you’re diagnosed with degenerative disease and will eventually need a replacement surgery, it’s better to do it when you’re younger so you bounce back from surgery better. If you’re ultimately going to need surgery anyway why put it off and live in pain with limited activity.
