Why isn't Michael Madsen's death a bigger deal in the media?

He wasn't even that big in the US, why would it make the evening news abroad? He just never was a household name.

Michael Madsen didn't have a ton of big roles unfortunately.

I guess he was kind of a niche actor but, yeah, I’m surprised it’s not a bigger deal because many people are fans of Tarantino films. Also Thelma and Louise was a big phenomenon when it was released.

I never heard of this actor until the other day when he died. When I looked up his movie career, I realized I never saw any of the movies he was in.

Never mind. I get Val Kilmer and Mickey Rourke mixed up. Both attractive macho types who ruined themselves.

I would say the most important thing about him is that he was married to Cher’s sister.

It’s because he just never had that star quality. He never learned to roll with the punches. And believe me, in this business they come left, right, and below the belt.

I would also say that it takes a certain kind of talent to be in 330 movies nobody ever heard of.

When I heard he died, my first thought was "Again?!!". Turns out I was thinking about Tom Sizemore. In my mind, they are essentially the same person so it makes sense they both died.

Madsen was not a household name and 98% of the public couldn’t even name a film he was in if the last time they saw him in something.

He seemed to spend most of his life looking like he was knocking at death's door. So, his death announcement wasn't that surprising.
