Localized to the gentrified parts of the central city: Condesa and Roma. 90% of the city is still affordable, just not desirable.

I'm not surprised by this; I was in CDMX in May of last year & they were in the middle (and may still be) of a long drought. Poorer neighborhoods had little or no water for days at a time while nicer neighborhoods and hotels - had water! Add to that the policies of the Trump administration, people being pushed farther out of the city were traffic is a nightmare & public transportation is kind of iffy, and whatever other issues they're dealing with, it's not surprising the anger is boiling over. Just from being there a brief time, I could see where things could go tits up pretty quickly & the police couldn't - or wouldn't - stop it.

I love Mexico City and personally know two Americans who have moved there.

Americans have driven up home prices in all the European countries that offered Golden Visas so they had to pull back on those too

Smashing windows and rioting is always a winning solution.

So Mexico has an illegal alien problem too?

I can see how Mexicans see the hypocrisy of it: we cross your border for business and trade and you harass us relentlessly and treat us like dogs, yet our government lets you come & live in our country on some iffy visa, use up our dwindling resources, drive up rents and push us further into poverty. I can see why they'd be pissed.

They're just migrants seeking a better life, a safe haven from the political tumoil and violence that plagues their home country. They do jobs that others refuse to do or incapable of doing, pay taxes and have helped revive and better the local economies in which they live. They bring cultural diversity and enrich the neighborhoods - many of whom they have helped revitalize. Yes, they might struggle with the local language and customs but we must appreicate their difficult circumstances and the disorientation that is caused by moving from one country to another. We must empathize with their situation and remember that Migration is a Human Right!

The Americans show the Mexicans what Mexicans could have in their own country if the Mexicans would stay in Mexico and start fighting the Mexican government to provide clean water and proper housing.

Eject US citizens and ship them to El Salvador!

Is this just Americans or is it a larger issue with all of the central American migrants who are 'stuck' in Mexico but want to go up to the US?

Seems like a selective outrage - when they should be pissed off at their own corrupt government.

Just a bit ironic considering how many legal and illegal Mexican immigrants are in the US. They are bolstering Mexico's economy by sending money back home.

Sounds like a group of 15 or 20 who have an axe to grind and just want to smash up shit.
