It just got dark here in LA and I can hear fireworks going off all around me, even though they're ostensibly illegal in my area.
Now, after about 15 minutes of popping, sizzling, and other fireworks noises, I'm hearing multiple sirens in the background, as well.
If you burn down your own house, I don't care. But, when I was a kid, a neighbor's house burned down because some other idiot was lighting fireworks. The blaze was so bad that other neighbors were hosing down their own roofs for fear of burning material from the house igniting other homes.

I'm in SF, fireworks also illegal but plenty of noise nonetheless. At least the dog isn't freaked out.

Here in Ohio, the sounds of fireworks are punctuated with gunfire.

Northern CA (about an hour north of SF) and it's been nonstop since around 830. Happily, it seems like my dog is not too concerned by it.
