Maybe pour a warm bath to enjoy this in.
I hope Rubio is happy!

They got the government they deserve - they voted for him.

What this Administration is doing is patently cruel. It is treating people (to use a term the racist, sexist, irresponsible imbecile himself uses) like scum. Many Americans, including those of Cuban descent) knew what he said yet voted for him. They disgust me. I sympathize with those picked up by ICE and will fight for their rights to be treated with dignity and due process. Their relatives who voted for the imbecile did not and do not care how others would be affected by their votes. No that is has had an effect on those they love...well, Go to Hell!
Marco Rubio especially disgusts me. He made a deal with the devil for power.

Cubans WILL NEVER get over JFK and the Bay of Pigs. Even though they're being deported by Dump and Little Marco, I don't see them voting for Democrats. Maybe they just won't vote, which I'll take.

The thing is he never said he would just deport the criminals or bad guys, but technically if you’re here illegally, you’re a criminal, so I guess it’s all working out very well for them.

The man who is the subject of the NBC story illegally crossed the Mexican border, twice. The first time he was detained and deported and now he’s being detained to be deported for having done it again. The wife acts like it’s unbelievable that that could happen and pretends she can’t understand why.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 4, 2025 3:50 PM |
Well, we can rest assured that if somehow the Republicans lose power again, they will never ever be punished for any of this and will take the next midterm after.

As a Cuban Democrat, I have always detested Cuban exile attitudes toward their role in US democracy. First, they don't believe in democracy and are tyrannical whenever they get the chance. They participated in local, state, and federal govt simply for corruption opportunities. (3 in the Senate at the same time--Rubio, Cruz, and Menendez-- 1 already in prison, Cruz is gross and Rubio is contemptible in so many ways. I could tell stories about him.) Their insistence on the Cuban embargo has condemned the poor island to heartbreaking poverty and Russian dominance. Oh, those lovely people are back.
So, when Cubans decided to vote for Trump because he went on Telemundo to say, point blank, that there would be no family separations, only focus on illegal aliens, and gang members. Like Michael told Fredo, "You believed that?" Yes, they did. FAFO

As a matter of fact, it is a crime to re-enter the U.S. without permission after having been previously deported, as was the case with the man who is the subject of the NBC story.

Exactly R15 - this country is fundamentally broken. Perhaps the whole world is to a degree but not this bad compared to a decade ago. At 62 I have 5 friends moving to Europe. 3 plan to go back and forth for now (they have done well) - 2 others are trying to do relocate permanently with work visas and paying into the system there.. After my mom dies I will see if I can swing that financially as well - no place is perfect but this country is depressingly ignorant.

A husband of a friend, who is Venezuelan, and his family have all voted for Trump, I think. Now, they are applying for Italian passports because they are panicking that they will be deported and making plans to leave the States. All while all their money is tied up in American businesses. Leopards, faces, etc.

It's annoying that a group that consists of a lot of good-looking, sexy, fuckable people are so silly with their votes. Oh well, my philosphy this entire time is sit back and watch all the Trump voters get precisely what they deserve.

I hate that we've come to this, but there can never be enough pain for anyone who voted for Trump.

r16 -- nothing gay, but I went to his alma mater University of Miami.
1 -- He's not bright. He went to U of M law school at a time when it would accept anyone and didn't get good grades. After graduating, he couldn't land a job at a good firm and ended up wandering into the Republican Party to get patronage. The Republicans quickly saw him "as perfect" for Latino outreach: young, good-looking, reasonably white, and Latino. They became his patrons, so instead of collecting graft as a city commissioner, he catapulted into the Senate. The Rs even wrote an ideas book for him.
2 -- While waiting for a Senate race, he taught at Florida International University, a glorified community college. Still, he got it through patronage - a fellowship suddenly became available. Even by FIU standards, his teaching attempts were scandalously bad. The Rs just parked him there for a few years.
3 -- He married a sketchy Miami Dolphins cheerleader. It was a quickie marriage. She got involved in an expense report cheating situation that the Rs covered over. She's even dumber than him. After the expense reports, she stopped participating in politics and devoted herself to being a wife and mother. Lived apart from Rubio during much of her marriage.
4 -- Early in his career, Rubio converted to Evangelical Christianity to appeal to the Religious Right. However, when campaigning among Cubans, he pretended to still be Catholic. Priests would invite him into their churches to speak, etc.
5 -- Started balding early and wore a combover while still in his 20s. I presume he's wearing a wig now. He's shorter than you would think and originally quite pudgy.
6 -- Rubio's family did not come to the US to escape Castro. They were economic immigrants to Tampa in mid-50s. Yet, he pretended to be a political refugee.
7 -- Extremely right-wing, pretends to be more moderate than he is.

There was all this crowing from the New Right after the election about a new Trump-led multi-racial coalition. Trump won 12% of black and 45% of Hispanics.
But everything since then has shown that Trump and MAGA actually resent this coalition and don't mind screwing them over.
