Barbra Streisand in Up The Sandbox
I’ve always loved this movie as it’s a decent flick where Barbra isn’t trying to play herself too much and it’s not a musical.
Streisand plays, Margaret, a bored housewife who has fantasies to escape her mundane life and anxiety from her third pregnancy. She fantasizes telling Fidel Castro off and then discovering Fidel is a woman trying to woo her, daydreams about telling her overbearing mother off to much comedic effect, being involved in a terrorist cell that tries to blow up the Statue of Liberty, and exploring an African tribe on how to have a natural and pain-free childbirth.
All of this happens with gritty 1972 New York City as a backdrop.
Paul Benedict, Isabel Sanford, Conrad Bain, Paul Dooley, and Anne Ramsey make appearances.
This film really needs a Blu-Ray release.

I think I saw this in a double feature with The Owl and the Pussycat. I was probably too young to get Up the Sandbox but I didnt hate it. I roared with laughter at The Owl and the Pussycat.

No one has mentioned yet the fantasy scenes of Margaret's mother forcing Margaret's apartment door open with a large wrench, smashing her mother's face into a cake or the Fidel Castro-ish character revealed to actually be a woman.
