Kill Bill star was 67.
I thought he died already.

Heavy smoker and/or drinker.

R1, me too
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 3, 2025 5:35 PM |
I liked him and thought he was quite handsome and a decent actor. Poor Virginia.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 3, 2025 5:35 PM |
He was incredibly handsome when he was young. I liked him better than Brad Pitt in Thelma and Louise.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 3, 2025 5:38 PM |
I don’t know him.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 3, 2025 5:40 PM |
Like a rougher around the edges Matthew Perry.....Madsen was cute when he was younger

His manager, Ron Smith, confirmed the news on Thursday, revealing he reportedly died from cardiac arrest.

Case closed. I'm wearing my black scrunchie to honor his memory.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 3, 2025 5:45 PM |
Has his sister Virginia released a statement yet?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 3, 2025 5:45 PM |
I remember the director Tarantino said he lent him 4 million dollars! Yet, Micheal still filed for bankruptcy

He was easily confused with the late Tom Sizemore, another tough guy train wreck.

Has his grandmother Dolley Madison made a statement?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 3, 2025 5:49 PM |
He was wed to Georganne LaPiere, half-sister of singer and actress Cher from 1984-1988.

Virginia looks like she's not too healthy herself these days. Here's a recent photo with her nonagenarian mom. (She's not yet posted about Michael.)
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 3, 2025 5:58 PM |
So young.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 3, 2025 5:58 PM |
Virginia looks pretty good in that photo. It looks like she lost that post-menopausal bloat that happens to most women her age.

God help me, but I've always been magnetically attracted to complete dirtbags inside and out — and young Michael was a 10 to me.

She did, R23!

I saw Free Willy when I was 10 and developed the biggest crush on this guy. He was so dreamy!
(I think that was one of the few roles where he didn't play a bad guy or a psycho. Species was another good one.)
He was a mess, but RIP, big sexy!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 3, 2025 7:03 PM |
I saw Free Willy a bunch of times as a kid.
A couple of years ago, it was one of the streaming services and I watched it for 90s nostalgia and I realized that Michael Madsen was in great in the movie as a blue collar good guy foster dad. But, I also saw how he was mismatched he was with Jayne Atkinson who played his wife. Lori Petty should have played the foster mom character and Jayne should have played the trainer character that Lori played in the movie.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 3, 2025 7:31 PM |
Hideous looking, but I did like him as an actor.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 3, 2025 8:03 PM |
'Michael was suffering from the effects of alcoholism. He had multiple stints in and out of rehab. He struggled to maintain his sobriety. He was not happy about his life.'
Madsen was also facing a crippling legal battle with his estranged wife, which saw the pair fighting over child support and other finances, his lawyer claimed.
'I blame her for putting in the screws over his last years of life,' Wander said, alleging the legal battle, which saw his passport be 'maliciously revoked', impacted his ability to travel and work abroad.
'Michael lived a life of regrets - those regrets being his two marriages,' he added.
Virginia paid emotional tribute to Madsen in a statement to Variety, which read: 'My brother Michael has left the stage. He was thunder and velvet. Mischief wrapped in tenderness. A poet disguised as an outlaw. A father, a son, a brother — etched in contradiction, tempered by love that left its mark.
'We’re not mourning a public figure. We’re not mourning a myth — but flesh and blood and ferocious heart. Who stormed through life loud, brilliant, and half on fire. Who leaves us echoes — gruff, brilliant, unrepeatable — half legend, half lullaby.
'I’ll miss our inside jokes, the sudden laughter, the sound of him. I’ll miss the boy he was before the legend; I miss my big brother. Thank you to everyone reaching out with love and memory. In time, we’ll share how we plan to celebrate his life — but for now, we stay close, and let the silence say what words can’t.'
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 3, 2025 10:26 PM |
Wow. Until today, I genuinely had no idea that Michael and Virginia were related - SIBLINGS, even!
And I pride myself on showbiz knowledge, gossip, etc.
I feel so...oblivious

He's like Eric Roberts — both made the decision to appear in anything that met their day rate. Eric was even in the last installment of "The Human Centipede."

Bullshit, R9. He had a heart attack.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 4, 2025 12:05 AM |
He has looked rrrrrrrrrough for 20 years. It catches up at different times for different people, but 67 is young. But then my dear alcoholic sister died at 63.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 4, 2025 12:15 AM |
And yet he made 2 classic movies, R38. How many actors make even one?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 4, 2025 12:15 AM |
Well, at least R41 didn't say, "How many classic movies have YOU made, R38?"
But of course Mr. Madsen had many committed and well-defined performances, with a youthful appeal and an early-maturity seriousness behind the mannerisms on the surface.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 4, 2025 12:19 AM |
He was Mr Blonde

What was his character's name in Kill Bill, r43?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 4, 2025 2:42 AM |
He was a slightly less dirtbally Tom Sizemote.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 4, 2025 3:25 AM |
aw, he was sort of cute
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 4, 2025 4:08 AM |
He also landed in more B-movies that he cared to mention.
“You get these horrifying straight-to-video things for very little money,” he told The Guardian, “then you go to the Cannes Film Festival and they got some poster of you, 40 feet high, in the worst movie in the world. You’re like, ‘Oh, my God. Take the thing down!’ (He had inserted an expletive.)

RIP Mike. I took a photo with him at a Con years ago and was pleasantly surprised by how big his basket looked in his jeans when he was seated before he stood to take the pic. He showed his (very nice) butt in several nude scenes over the years. This one was from an episode of The Hitchhiker…

R59. My mother's official cause of death was cardiac arrest. No mention of the fact that she was on dialysis for three years with end stage renal failure. She also had diabetes, and what ultimately killed her was internal bleeding.

Madsen in his heyday was hot like Lawrence Tierney was hot in his heyday 50 years earlier - scary but thrillingly virile and sexually magnetic.

"Thrillingly virile..." Hmm.

Ditto. That movie came out when I was in middle school, and it was my first exposure to him.
I remember both FREE WILLY and HOCUS POCUS opened on the same day in July 1993, and I was torn about which one to watch first. Ultimately, I went with the former, because I was drawn to Madsen in the TV spots.
RIP
