Jeannie Berlin -really?
I watched “Cafe Society” the other day and Berlin was in it. I’m not overly familiar with her work but she was absolutely terrible in it, like she was doing a first time table read. I looked her up online and it would seem a lot of people think she’s not great but then again, she’s been Oscar nominated so I don’t know.
What do you think?

She is incredible in “The Night Of.”

She was nominated over 50 years ago for The Heartbreak Kid which was directed by her mother Elaine May. Her career really didn't take off after that. She's one of those one hit wonders. She's well-cast in that movie but it's the only thing I've ever seen her in.

I agree with, R1. She was great in "The Night Of."

She's hilarious in You Hurt My Feelings playing Julia Louis Dreyfus's mother. Excellent role for her.

She gives pretty much the same performance in everything she does. When that works, as in THE NIGHT OF..., SUCCESSION, MARGARET (the wildly uneven Kenneth Lonergan film), or YOU HURT MY FEELINGS, she's effective.

Love her. Try her again, OP. She was great in Succession.

I'm a fan. There are WAY worse. Cameron Diaz? Katherine Heigl?
