Things to do in Seattle—deep cuts

I’m going to Seattle this weekend for a wedding. The wedding events will take up a lot of the time, but I will be taking a red eye Monday night after my friends have left town. I’ve been to Seattle multiple times, so I’ve done most of the touristy things.

I’m thinking of taking a tour-guided visit to Mt Rainier on Monday. I’ve been to Rainier before, but nature doesn’t get old.

Any advice for alternatives?

No.

I think you can go to the Olympic Peninsula and back in a day. It's really one of the most incredible landscapes I've ever seen. It might be fun to take a boat ride to someplace and back again in Puget sound also. They've got a great outdoor sculpture garden by the water.

Take the underground Seattle tour.

Contact the airline and see if you can change your flight to Monday morning so you can leave sooner.

Take an earlier flight home

Lots gay bookstores for cruising and a bathhouse

Go to the Museum of Flight

I’m using miles so I have limited flexibility.

Which airline are you using that doesn’t allow for penalty-free changes on award travel?

by Anonymousreply 10July 3, 2025 9:07 PM

Obviously, Capital One is NOT in Miss OP's wallet.

by Anonymousreply 11July 3, 2025 9:24 PM

I'd have several suggestions, but you're an asshole, OP - so, good luck.

Take the Bainbridge ferry from the waterfront and have lunch at Bruciato in Winslow, fantastic pizza, afterwards walk around the shops and art galleries. It's better to walk on rather than drive on the ferry, the restaurant is walking distance from the terminal.

United.

R10 - it's not the penalties most likely - it's whether there's a seat available on another flight and if it's not a massive higher amount of miles.

by Anonymousreply 15July 3, 2025 10:32 PM

37,000 miles.

by Anonymousreply 16July 3, 2025 10:48 PM

R16 - that's a lot for 1 way or for a change in flight. I'd stick with original plan.

by Anonymousreply 17July 3, 2025 11:01 PM

There’s earlier 37.5k flights on United on Monday from SEA to EWR. If that’s what you paid originally, it’s just a swap.

A fun boat tour of union lake and then gas works park is fun. Vashon island is also fun.

I'd find the best restaurant near your hotel that has a great bar. I'd have a couple martinis and a great dinner and go to bed early and get home. Holiday weekends can need extra patience when traveling so keep a decent buzz and remember to hydrate. You'll be fine. Have a good weekend
