Imagine if Oprah got cancelled….
Wow! What a wonderful idea. Somehow she has floated above all the quacks and charlatans she has inflicted on the public over the years. Her favourite things days were truly sickening orgies of capitalism. Yeah the people in the audience got her stuff, but what about all the lower and lower middle class people watching the show. She walks around expecting to be treated like an empress. Why do we buy into that? Her interview with Meghan and Harry did great damage to the monarchy and especially the commonwealth, and Oprah never once fact checked the obvious likes Meghan told about how titles are awarded, etc. Even once the show was broadcast, Oprah never offered corrections or apologized for that disaster.
Oprah won’t be cancelled for sex crimes, but could she be be cancelled for greed?

She should be canceled for a lot of things and people, the latest being her attendance at the Bezos wedding; she's a real woman of the people, isn't she?
Proved who and what she really is, and has always been - a phony, and a limitless pit of greed.

She says she plans to leave her money to charity when she dies, and that is great, but why the fuck is she sitting on $3-4B for decades when it could be helping her charities now. How many billions does this childless woman need to live on and have liquid?

She should have been canceled for Dr. Oz. If it hasn’t happened by now, it’s not going to.

I would volunteer!

I grew up adoring Oprah. Her show made me aware of so many issues and it had this wonderful focus on finding joy and reading for pleasure and all the great things we remember. I never thought I would change my mind about her. Even when she didn't do anything to stop Trump and she allowed Oz to dominate the senate race but seeing her at that wedding pushed me over the edge for some reason. I'm totally over her now. I think she did many good things but she lost her legacy IMHO.

She has become truly the worst. Such gross consumption, grandiosity and self-importance. She rotted with all the adulation years ago. If life were fair, she'd be in the first wagon-full going to the guillotine. Rather than giving her audience gifts, like a supreme Jabba the Hutt- like influencer, she should be engaging her audience in witnessing how $3B can be put to work for those in critical need, especially now. And for God's sake, just tell people Ozempic works, and the diarrhea is bearable.

Hoping for her cancellation. WTF is this ‘’Pink Salt’’ shit??? Interrupts every online news or documentary every five minutes. I refuse to look and listen at it-is she an AI fake or what?

She’s a tone deaf billionaire putting on extravagant displays of wealth and propping up and enabling MAGA Republicans. She’s no different than Elon Musk.

She’s kind of over and she has very little influence today aside from being among the elite.
The last relevant thing she did was the Harry and Meghan interview and people thought she played softball.

What an idiotic thread. People go on the Price is Right and win prizes. Her favorite things was like a game show aspect of the show; Oprah just had the bank to make sure everybody in the audience “won” and thus was going to get a prize. Oprah was the first to marry topical daytime talk shows with celebrity culture., and now it’s the standard.
You can never get cancelled for greed in America. It’s the foundation of our culture. Look who sitting in that mafuckin White House. Look at the cars we drive. That’s because of Oprah right? Fuck outta here. Oprah didn’t build that house, she merely used it to get herself out of poverty and influence the world.

R16 You are an idiot. Yall want to give Oprah more power than NBC Universal. NBC Universal is the reason why Trump is President. They are also lowkey the reason Joe Rogan is the most powerful man in the news. Yep I said it. That’s right because it’s the truth as sad as it is. I wanted to say journalism, but I know heads would explode.

I made a comment on Bluesky about blaming Orca for Oz and Phil, and this stupid bitch goes after me for attacking a strong black woman. I’m like, so a strong black woman can’t be held accountable for giving these assholes their mainstream platforms? And TBH, it would surprise me if Orca secretly votes Republican.

R25 You can’t really blame her for them. You can but you can’t. They didn’t do anything but present themselves as regular center white men, you know the typical American. And they didn’t make their brands overly political. They really weren’t political at all until they decided to become political in their 60s and realize they had a whole demographic of angry, white idiots who they could manipulate.. Blame white culture. Don’t blame Oprah.
Oprah was brilliant at what works. She also gave Iyanla Van Zant a platform. It could be telling that she never a gave a black man a platform who wasn’t already rich and famous. Or it could be as simple as no non celebrity black man was ever “there” at the right time and place. Timing is everything. Like I said, blame white culture. Don’t blame Oprah for monetizing it.

Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz transformed their brands when they realized the writing on the wall for daytime television. Don’t nobody watch broadcast tv anymore. They have made money off being MAGAs. In Dr. Oz’s case I believe his political aspirations were sincere. I mean he actually white men. They were already conservative white men who then decided jumped on the MAGA gravy train because they were aging and they weren’t going to lure more youth appeal by being their brand they had always presented. Basically they lack integrity. Or maybe they never had integrity but knew how to hide or they would never enter Oprah’s stratosphere.
I see not one person blaming Clive Davis for all this decrepit shit spilling from Diddy and he’s a freak it’s. You want to know why? He doesn’t deserve blame btw. That’s not what I’m saying.

I still blame Oprah. She also gave us Rachel Ray who can’t cook. Oprah wasn’t giving us serious people professionals, she was giving us personalities. Which yes, I get that it’s what sells. You can’t tell me Oprah didn’t give these people a stage without knowing who they are. Phil and Oz were and are quacks. That hasn’t changed.

Dr. Oz is a bit of an exception. It wasn't just about personality with him. Harvard undergrad, UPenn for Med school. He taught at Columbia University starting in 2001 until 2018 and was an active cardiac surgeon and researcher at one point. It's easy to see how Oprah could be fooled by him when she met him on a Discovery Channel show he had in 2003. The guy was always a bit of a nut according to people who worked closely with him, but he's the type that is harder for most people to spot - the well qualified guy who knows his field yet chooses to ignore it for the $$$.
Dr. Phil, on the other hand, seems to have always been selling self help crap. And Rachel, well, she was fine on her 40 dollars a day show. Didn't need to turn that into a cooking show. I do blame Oprah for those two.

Agreed. We have a friend who is a big deal in NYC medical circles (he’s a specialist).
He knows who all the best doctors and, and when his elderly dad needed heart surgery, he went with Dr Oz.
I hate the guy now, but you can’t argue with his skills.
