Too many tasteless references to her body of work to link. Very talented.

by Anonymousreply 1July 3, 2025 2:34 AM

Prayers for Connie. She's a legend.

by Anonymousreply 2July 3, 2025 2:35 AM

I remember Sammy Davis Jr. being interviewed on one of those ubiquitous talk show in the 80s. He was asked about Connie and he paused and did a quick sigh/exhale thing and said, “Connie has problems.”

It was fuckin’ hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 3July 3, 2025 2:39 AM

Like Sammy didn’t?

by Anonymousreply 4July 3, 2025 2:43 AM

Comparatively? No.

by Anonymousreply 5July 3, 2025 2:43 AM

Unfortunately, at 87 when one is bed bound due to fractures or joint issues, pneumonia and sepsis set in extremely easily not to mention heart issues.

by Anonymousreply 6July 3, 2025 2:46 AM

Good.. she hated Dorothy Kilgallen.

by Anonymousreply 7July 3, 2025 2:52 AM

>>>>>>>Unfortunately, at 87 when one is bed bound due to fractures or joint issues, pneumonia and sepsis set in extremely easily not to mention heart issues.

So you’re saying she still has a chance?

by Anonymousreply 8July 3, 2025 2:53 AM

She was in the first movie I ever remember seeing, at a Saturday matinee at the movie house in the old home town. (Where the Boys Meet the Girls. A sort of remake of Girl Crazy.) I was 6.

by Anonymousreply 9July 3, 2025 2:56 AM

Keep reachin’ for the stars, R8.

by Anonymousreply 10July 3, 2025 2:56 AM

It's too late, she's gone too far, she's lost the sun, she's come undone.

by Anonymousreply 11July 3, 2025 3:01 AM

R8 it’s possible she can bounce back this one time if they caught whatever it is early enough, but the body is trying to shut down. Death will probably be inevitable within a year based on her age and comorbididities.

by Anonymousreply 12July 3, 2025 3:02 AM

Her career died at a Holiday Inn.

by Anonymousreply 13July 3, 2025 3:03 AM

Guess who r11 is pretending to be

by Anonymousreply 14July 3, 2025 3:11 AM

I had no idea she was still alive.

by Anonymousreply 15July 3, 2025 3:16 AM

She was just in the news for some newfound appreciation on TikTok for one of her songs.

by Anonymousreply 16July 3, 2025 3:20 AM

R16. That and the Bobby Darrin musical on Broadway.

by Anonymousreply 17July 3, 2025 3:24 AM

According to a FB post Connie has been moved to a private room. She ain't down yet!!!!

by Anonymousreply 18July 3, 2025 3:31 AM

That was Debbie Reynolds

by Anonymousreply 19July 3, 2025 3:33 AM

It was originally Tammy Grimes. But after Debbie it was Kathy Bates.

by Anonymousreply 20July 3, 2025 3:35 AM

Damn it - I know it is in poor taste - but I can hear the music SWELLL- “WHO’S SORRY NOW????”

by Anonymousreply 21July 3, 2025 3:39 AM

I couldn't do it r21

by Anonymousreply 22July 3, 2025 3:42 AM

R#22 - Cue the music - “I’M SORRYYYYY!! So SORRRYY!!🎼🎤”

by Anonymousreply 23July 3, 2025 3:49 AM

[Quote] According to a FB post Connie has been moved to a private room.

Yes and I can guess why.

by Anonymousreply 24July 3, 2025 3:49 AM

When are they gonna make the bio movie starring Dianne Wiest?

by Anonymousreply 25July 3, 2025 3:59 AM

I just saw her on TikTok the other day mispronouncing Timothy Chalamet’s name.

by Anonymousreply 26July 3, 2025 4:03 AM

She's been dead to me since November 28, 1965.

Connie and Dionne Warwick toured together recently. Dionne says in this interview that her cousin is Leontyne Price. Her other cousin was Whitney Houston.

by Anonymousreply 33July 3, 2025 5:55 PM

You know she will have a marvelous stupendous Catholic funeral attended by the New Jersey "families"

by Anonymousreply 34July 4, 2025 12:53 AM

R34 I don’t know about that. I remember in the 80s when her brother George Franconero was killed by mob hitmen in the driveway of his North Caldwell NJ home (setting of The Sopranos for a reason).

I’ve posted before, Connie grew up with my mother and aunt in Newark. She was very good friends with my aunt. They both always spoke very highly of her.

Last I knew she was living very quietly in Essex Fells NJ. I had no idea she was still working.

She hasn’t had an easy life, that’s for sure.

by Anonymousreply 35July 4, 2025 1:30 AM

Thanks for your thread, ghoul OP.

Where The Graves Are

Someone Waits For Me

by Anonymousreply 37July 4, 2025 3:33 AM

Sam, Jack and I are waiting!

by Anonymousreply 38July 4, 2025 4:19 AM

She’s pretty active on social media and said she’s doing better. She’s not bed ridden, she’s using a wheelchair because of her hip pain but she seems to lobe a pretty active life.

by Anonymousreply 39July 4, 2025 4:30 AM

Don't tell that to OP, R39--he's already wishing her into the grave.

by Anonymousreply 40July 4, 2025 4:33 AM

IDK why lobe popped up instead of have.

It’s criminal that Connie isn’t in the rock and roll hall of fame.

by Anonymousreply 41July 4, 2025 4:44 AM

Connie refuses to die before Frankie Valli.

by Anonymousreply 42July 4, 2025 4:20 PM

R33 Oh, those poor lesbian children!

by Anonymousreply 43July 5, 2025 6:00 AM

[quote]I don’t know about that. I remember in the 80s when her brother George Franconero was killed by mob hitmen in the driveway of his North Caldwell NJ home (setting of The Sopranos for a reason).

On one of her old shows, Martha Stewart mentioned that she once dated Connie Francis' brother.

Jesus—/that Goldfinger cover is so, so bad. Ed Sullivan’s show really knew how to suck the life out of pop culture.

by Anonymousreply 45July 5, 2025 6:56 AM

R20 It was originally Molly Brown, if you want to keep going.

by Anonymousreply 46July 5, 2025 2:40 PM

[quote] And her sister was a lesbian child molester.

Her sister was Paula Poundstone?

by Anonymousreply 47July 5, 2025 3:19 PM

Why molest lesbian kids?

by Anonymousreply 48July 5, 2025 3:26 PM

She had a tough life. I'm glad she got to see the re-release of one of her songs that became a hit (I forgot which one) before she passes. Bon Voyage Connie. RIP.

Yes, her rendition of Goldfinger is horrible.

But your comment about the Ed Sullivan show is sooo untrue.

by Anonymousreply 52July 5, 2025 3:40 PM

True as to that production number. He was very middle to low brow with production numbers of pop/rock.

by Anonymousreply 53July 5, 2025 4:04 PM

R#35 - Thank you for the great info! I bet your mom had a lot of stories!

by Anonymousreply 54July 5, 2025 4:29 PM

R44 Martha Stewart is from Nutley NJ.

My sister’s sister-in-law bought Martha’s Nutley home, must be at least 40 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 55July 5, 2025 10:05 PM

Martha’s parents’ home.

by Anonymousreply 56July 5, 2025 10:07 PM

R54 She sure did.

Back when Frankie Valli was starting out the 4 Seasons were the 4 Lovers. Played every dive bar in Jersey. Especially Newark.

My mom used to sing back up for them when they played locally. She and my dad were dating. This would have been the 50s.

My dad said every time Frankie played in Newark a brawl would break out and my father spent more time ducking under the table than sitting at it.

My mom always said Connie was a saint but Frankie was an asshole.

by Anonymousreply 57July 5, 2025 10:10 PM

R44 Martha said that to Gloria Estefan when Gloria was on her show. Connie had many magnificent live performances!

by Anonymousreply 58July 6, 2025 1:33 AM

I don’t know who this person is, but I’m certain she died many years ago.

by Anonymousreply 59July 6, 2025 1:40 AM

[quote]True as to that production number. He was very middle to low brow with production numbers of pop/rock.

What TV shows were doing a better job of presenting pop/rock singers and bands? Name them.

by Anonymousreply 60July 6, 2025 1:44 AM

I had to look up what happened to Francis in the hotel room. I remember she was raped, but I was 10 years old and didn't really understand what had happened. Here's the NYT article from November 9, 1974, the day after she was raped in the Holiday Inn by a 19 year old guest. I wonder what ever happened to him - was he ever identified ? Did he serve jail time ?

r61 See R31 and READ the damn article you linked. It was NOT a Holiday Inn.

by Anonymousreply 62July 6, 2025 2:23 AM

Was it rape-rape?

by Anonymousreply 63July 6, 2025 3:05 AM

Producer Joe Pasternak told Connie she could be another Judy Garland, but Connie did not want to be in movies. She says this in the extras on the Where the Boys Are dvd I proudly own. She says Pasternak called her "Connileh". Oh, and--she wasn't another Judy Garland.

by Anonymousreply 64July 6, 2025 3:11 AM

She also says MGM offered to have several different famous composers and lyricists write the title song, but she said it had to be her friends Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield. The two guys wrote two different title tunes. MGM told Connie they were going to go with Sedaka and Greenfield. But they went with the song she didn't like. (The one that became a big hit.)

by Anonymousreply 65July 6, 2025 3:19 AM

Bump

by Anonymousreply 66July 17, 2025 10:07 AM
