Victims family PISSED...

by Anonymousreply 1June 30, 2025 10:29 PM

Good. The family may want him dead, but given the glacial melting pace of ever getting to the electric chair and given Idaho has executed may 3 or 4 guys in the last 50 years, he's basically in jail for decades either way.

by Anonymousreply 2June 30, 2025 10:34 PM

The Death Penalty. Do 2 wrongs make a right?

by Anonymousreply 3June 30, 2025 10:35 PM

R3 = the despicable heinous murderer, Bryan Kohberger.

by Anonymousreply 4June 30, 2025 10:38 PM

R5: the 5th commandment: thou shalt not kill.

That applies to murderers as well as sanctimonious avengers like you.

It's not a Chinese menu where to get to pick one from Column A and one from Column B.

by Anonymousreply 5June 30, 2025 10:48 PM

I have no problem with the death penalty. If the DNA matches, fry their asses.

by Anonymousreply 6June 30, 2025 10:53 PM

R6 is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 7June 30, 2025 10:54 PM

The fraus are pissed because they’ll no longer have a court trial to excite them to fill us their empty pitiful lives.

by Anonymousreply 8June 30, 2025 10:58 PM

There would have been no plea deal if the prosecution had a slam dunk case.

by Anonymousreply 9June 30, 2025 10:58 PM

Redditor correctly states that people are pissed because this was entertainment for them.

Admittedly, I was looking forward to this trial. Oh well.

by Anonymousreply 11June 30, 2025 11:03 PM

I never had a problem with the Death penalty. I believe certain criminals should be killed.

Anyone who murders children, the elderly, and animals should be KILLED. Doesn't matter what their skin color, Hang them.

by Anonymousreply 12June 30, 2025 11:04 PM

R11 you and all the networks. A trial would have given them hours of material.

by Anonymousreply 13June 30, 2025 11:06 PM

[quote]given the glacial melting pace of ever getting to the electric chair and given Idaho has executed may 3 or 4 guys in the last 50 years, he's basically in jail for decades either way.

Agreed. It also costs more to house someone on death row than in the general population.

by Anonymousreply 14June 30, 2025 11:06 PM

Did he say why? And I hope he didn't pull that shit Craig Titus did where he admitted to it but kept claiming he didn't really do it. This guy is a piece of shit, he brought about the fucking nightmare scenario of most of the world. Murdering someone in their bed, in their home, while they were sleeping. Fuck him! I really wanted him to face the firing squad like Gary Gilmore, who was way more of a man than him. He better be gag ordered to not write about this, since he fancies himself some criminalist academic, despite being caught pretty quickly.

by Anonymousreply 15June 30, 2025 11:06 PM

[quote]Doesn't matter what their skin color, Hang them.

See? Phillywhore is a progressive.

by Anonymousreply 16June 30, 2025 11:08 PM

Prison justice will likely do him in.

by Anonymousreply 17June 30, 2025 11:15 PM

Are you talking to yourself again R5? Maybe you need to adjust your meds.

by Anonymousreply 18June 30, 2025 11:17 PM

I don't think he should be given a plea unless he confesses EVERY DETAIL.

by Anonymousreply 19June 30, 2025 11:17 PM

Life in Idaho is no treat, at least to DLers who aren’t RWNJ trolls.

by Anonymousreply 20June 30, 2025 11:19 PM

[Quote] Prison justice will likely do him in.

He's gonna get deleted pretty quickly after he gets clapped up. But perhaps real justice is having him languish in prison? The families deserve justice and they should have been consulted. He took 4 lives ffs.

by Anonymousreply 21June 30, 2025 11:22 PM

He might have to R19. I'm pretty sure this fucking creep did. But everyone already knew he did it, except his asshole parents. Now he lives with them, with pics of his bro everywhere and I'm sure his weird mom guilt trips him constantly.

by Anonymousreply 23June 30, 2025 11:32 PM

If you guys haven't seen this, you should watch. This kid was mentioned peripherally in "Serial" because he had the same lawyer as guilty Adnan. He's a fucking freak and his parents are so far in denial it's insane. Okay, sorry, back to Bryan.

by Anonymousreply 24June 30, 2025 11:33 PM

Very much against capital punishment but the idea of "prison justice" is more disturbing. Turning a blind eye to convicted murderers and other violent criminals reoffending is a failure of the system. Let him suffer in confinement for the rest of his life.

by Anonymousreply 25June 30, 2025 11:37 PM

So many morons said he was guilty. No wonder Trump got elected.

by Anonymousreply 26June 30, 2025 11:39 PM

Wait R26, are you saying he's not guilty?

by Anonymousreply 27June 30, 2025 11:53 PM

Typo. Now we see who the moron really is.

(Slinks away from keyboard)

by Anonymousreply 28July 1, 2025 12:01 AM

I'd forgotten one of the victims was named XANA KERNODLE.

by Anonymousreply 29July 1, 2025 12:04 AM

I was looking forward to him (possibly) revealing every detail of what went on the night of the crime, and the days leading up to and afterward. A lot of people were. Maybe he still will.

by Anonymousreply 30July 1, 2025 12:08 AM

R28 Phew! I was going to point out the irony. A lot of redditors think he's innocent, they have gross fan pages and shit.

R25, about 20 years ago, there was a Catholic priest from the Boston area who was found guilty of child molestation. He met his end swiftly at the hands of an inmate who was in for life. IIRC no one really had a problem with how that played out. Sometimes people give up their right to life for their crimes against humanity.

by Anonymousreply 34July 1, 2025 12:35 AM

R25 your sanctimonious take is disturbing to me. I hope he's murdered viciously at the hands of inmates. He deserves the same as he gave. He killed a dog too as practice. Old testament his ass.

by Anonymousreply 35July 1, 2025 12:40 AM

R33, she was expected to be called as a witness. I assumed he was parked away from the house, observing. The driver said he was parked right next to her. He had a plan, and nothing was going to stop him from entering that house and executing (no pun intended) that plan.

R35, I believe LE said he was not responsible for what happened to the dog. They also investigated whether he could have been responsible for several cold cases and other unsolved cases back in PA. Nope.

by Anonymousreply 42July 1, 2025 11:31 AM

Oh, many of the redditors are NOT happy.

by Anonymousreply 44July 1, 2025 11:57 AM

Imagine all the marriage proposals he’ll receive from the true crime fraus. They’ll be fighting over him.

by Anonymousreply 45July 1, 2025 12:16 PM

I thought it was interesting what was explained this morning on the Today Show by attorney/co-host, Laura Jarrett. The State is the plaintiff, not the families. The Prosecution did not have to ask the families what they wanted or do what they wanted. The State makes the decision. This surprised me because it wasn't always presented that way on L&O.

It's scary to think he might have gotten away with 4 murders if he hadn't left the knife sheath.

by Anonymousreply 46July 1, 2025 12:45 PM

He is too hot for prison. FREE HIM!! I can fix him

by Anonymousreply 47July 1, 2025 12:50 PM

R25 100% agree. And anyone who doesn't is really no different than a MAGA Trumptard.

by Anonymousreply 48July 1, 2025 1:01 PM

R46 it’s not like Law & Order because there is no death penalty in NY.

by Anonymousreply 49July 1, 2025 1:09 PM

In no universe does a plea bargain depend on the victim’s family.

by Anonymousreply 50July 1, 2025 1:09 PM

To R41, you made a mistake on what I do for work but I need more coffee first.

by Anonymousreply 51July 1, 2025 1:48 PM

[quote]The Prosecution did not have to ask the families what they wanted or do what they wanted. The State makes the decision. This surprised me because it wasn't always presented that way on L&O.

The prosecutor/DA decides which charges will be pursued or whether to offer a plea deal. The judge in the case can reject the deal, however, and order the case to go to trial.

by Anonymousreply 52July 1, 2025 1:51 PM

R46 Yeah, that's always the case, that's why no one gives a shit if the family of the killed forgives him. I mean, that's cool and all, good for you being all zen about shit, but we don't trust this fucker and we're locking him up. See; Bart Whittaker. His christian dad forgave him for ambushing the family after a dinner to celebrate his (non existent) college graduation. His brother and mom were killed, his dad survived. He was initially on death row, Texas and all, and then taken off, inexplicably. His dad remarried and did the book tour, "I forgive him and I know my wife and son would." Good for you, you're the one who fucked him up to begin with. But anyone who would rage kill their fucking mom and bro, can't be trusted. That's why the state is the plaintiff, and not dummies like the family.

by Anonymousreply 53July 1, 2025 1:52 PM

R53 it's wasn't really inexplicable. The father appealed directly to Greg Abbot, the governor, and, because these are white people, he was taken off death row.

by Anonymousreply 54July 1, 2025 1:55 PM

It was an economic decision, trials like that are very expensive to put on for the state, even when it’s a slam dunk. I can’t imagine how devastating this has been for the families of the victims, but I can’t help but wonder if part of their bitterness stems from the extension of their 15 minutes of fame coming to an abrupt end. Particularly the Goncalves family.

by Anonymousreply 55July 1, 2025 1:56 PM

I don't know R55, even if they're famous, I doubt they'd choose this. They had a fucking horrible thing happen to their kid, a cowardly fucking monster killed her in her bed. They probably rather not have had that happen.

by Anonymousreply 56July 1, 2025 2:00 PM

Names like Kaylee and Xana are the real crimes.

by Anonymousreply 57July 1, 2025 2:03 PM

Kernodle…kerplunk.

by Anonymousreply 58July 1, 2025 2:08 PM

I still don't get how this was done so quickly and quietly, except they really all must have been wasted. Even the guy was dispatched without a fight. And I want to know which one was crying and being comforted by him before he killed them. I want to know how it went down, and then, throw him in gen pop and let him get Dahmered.

by Anonymousreply 59July 1, 2025 2:11 PM

I think he'll have elocute in court to the judge but we'll never know the details. They need to make sure he actually did it and, if details don't add up, the judge may deny the plea deal.

I know L&O is a fictionalized TV show. I was thinking of one particular episode where there were multiple people killed. McCoy asked the spouse of one victims and he asked what the others decided and the man said he would agree with their decision.

by Anonymousreply 60July 1, 2025 2:23 PM

Lock him up with this guy, he'll be dead before dawn. I wonder if this dude gets paid for being the equalizer or just does it for fun.

No it wasn’t. There wouldn’t be any trials going by that logic. They simply did not have hard evidence that would stand up in court. Touch DNA is pseudoscience and the idiots bulldozed down the crime scene. The prosecution was simply not equipped to handle this case.

by Anonymousreply 62July 1, 2025 2:29 PM

by Anonymousreply 64July 1, 2025 3:07 PM

The DA would always rather get a deal. It’s a conviction without all the work and expense of a trial. And the perp goes to prison.

by Anonymousreply 65July 1, 2025 3:18 PM

Allocution!

by Anonymousreply 66July 1, 2025 3:39 PM

"They simply did not have hard evidence that would stand up in court."

They have a VERY strong circumstantial case. Security cameras caught his car on his entire route that night. Kohberger is trained in criminal science. If he thought there was ANY way he could get off by going to trial, he would go to trial.

by Anonymousreply 67July 1, 2025 3:48 PM

Personally, r64, I do not want to even think about the weight of Momma's Mussy.

by Anonymousreply 68July 1, 2025 3:51 PM

Wasn't it an observant chick who worked at a gas station that noticed the white Hyundai? Without her, we wouldn't have known what car to look for. But of course once they had him as a suspect, his shit all proved he was at and around the crime scene. Bringing your phone to a murder is always a great idea. And the knife sheath. Yeah R67, he was fucked. Also, lol at "trained in criminal science" not so much so that he didn't make stupid, rookie, mistakes.

by Anonymousreply 69July 1, 2025 4:01 PM

The DA was probably concerned that chunky girl’s famewhoring family always being on TV would bias a jury against them.

by Anonymousreply 70July 1, 2025 4:10 PM

R62 ain’t the sharpest light in the toy box, nah, is he?

by Anonymousreply 71July 1, 2025 4:18 PM

I’m with you, R25. But he won’t know he’s miserable. Psychopaths and sociopaths don’t have the ability to feel.

Fry him.

by Anonymousreply 72July 1, 2025 4:23 PM

R39, you've added nothing to this conversation save for your supposed snark. You also seem to lack the comprehension skills necessary to navigate a simple comment based on facts.

R69, LE already had the make and model of his car but had not yet released the info to the public because they were building their case. When the store mgr. went to the press, LE released a BOLO intentionally misleading the public by saying they were looking for more than one person seen in the Hyundai the night of the murders. They were closing in, so they didn't want to spook Kohberger.

R4 drools and is a MAGA-headed fool.

by Anonymousreply 75July 1, 2025 5:24 PM

It was ultimately Kohberger's decision to plead guilty. He probably agreed to the plea ... because he was guilty. And didn't want to die. Or have to hear it laid out how his perfect murder plan went awry.

The prosecution probably offered the plea in part because of recent trials like the Karen Read trial. You can present all the evidence which all points to the culprit, but in a high profile case based on circumstantial evidence if there is enough of an intersection of a) true crime fraus all stoked up on on conspiracy theories and b) low information people easily manipulated by disinformation campaigns, the jury pool can be impacted and a jury may ignore or disbelieve the evidence and acquit. A Kohberger acquittal is too frightening to contemplate.

I can see the families being upset if they think won't get all the information about the crime without the trial. Hopefully the prosecutors make all evidence and information learned available to them. Maybe Kohberger has agreed to provide more information.

by Anonymousreply 76July 1, 2025 5:53 PM

He should have gone to trial. Probably would have been acquitted.

by Anonymousreply 77July 1, 2025 6:02 PM

R76, have you ever considered that Karen Read being acquitted had nothing to do with "true crime fraus" and everything to do with a prosecution that couldn't find ONE expert to testify that a vehicle collision actually happened?

But yeah, keep comparing a woman who drove while drunk to a man who broke into a home and stabbed four people to death with a hunting knife.

by Anonymousreply 78July 1, 2025 6:24 PM

Does the plea deal mean the families can sue this incel in a civil trial for any monies he or his jail-fraud may try to collect from memoirs, movie options, etc?

by Anonymousreply 79July 1, 2025 6:46 PM

Also, some of the media coverage of this plea deal makes mention of the families being "denied" the opportunity to hear the guy explain "why he did it." As if this punk wouldn't just bullshit from the stand? He's a psychopath, for god's sake.

Every word issuing from his mouth would be calculated to manipulate and self-aggrandize. Better to ignore him and let gen pop deal with his sorry ass.

by Anonymousreply 80July 1, 2025 7:03 PM

There’s no guarantee he would even testify or say anything during a trial. These families seem misinformed.

by Anonymousreply 81July 1, 2025 7:11 PM

This trial would never have compared to Luigi’s.

by Anonymousreply 82July 1, 2025 7:39 PM

Maybe the families are upset that they will be denied the right to give victim impact statements.

Even so, I'm inclined to doubt that screaming, crying, carrying on, or hurling invective in a courtroom would mean shit to that guy.

by Anonymousreply 83July 1, 2025 7:43 PM

R83 I don't think it means shit to anyone. I always cringe when the families scream at the people, because they don't give a shit, if they did, they wouldn't be killing people to begin with. It makes me sad to see a little old mom who is just destroyed from the death of her kid tell some pile of shit that he's monster and she hopes he feels bad everyday, etc. Because they don't fucking care.

by Anonymousreply 84July 1, 2025 7:50 PM

R83 The victims' family should be able to read impact statements at court prior to sentencing, even without a trial.

by Anonymousreply 90July 2, 2025 12:36 AM

If the families REALLY want to see the system fail, watch this tweaky perp get off on a technicality in a capital murder trial and then basically walk.

by Anonymousreply 91July 2, 2025 12:38 AM

If they take the DP off the table for Bryan they need to do the same for our sweet Luigi.

by Anonymousreply 92July 2, 2025 12:42 AM

If the family really wants to see justice, pay one of the peckerwoods there to kill him. They'd do it for the clout too, so you wouldn't have to pay too much. It's what I would do. The Folgers family made sure Manson never got out, but they could have made him die.

"The best part of wakin' up. Is Manson's still locked up"

by Anonymousreply 93July 2, 2025 1:19 AM

Ethan's family is going to be in court to support the plea deal. The Goncalves family is stoking outrage for their own... reasons.

by Anonymousreply 94July 2, 2025 2:13 AM

R88 Isn’t her name “Robyn?”

by Anonymousreply 95July 2, 2025 3:02 AM

Can you imagine being murdered because you didn't lock your fucking doors?

by Anonymousreply 96July 4, 2025 3:20 AM

I suspect the parents don't know how much agony this will spare them. Sitting in court, listening to the gruesome details("she cried for her mom as I stabbed her again" for instance)- no thanks, do they really want to know that? I made that up, btw I am not BK lurking in the Datalounge - that's exactly the sort of thing that breaks my heart when I hear it on Dateline or whatever

Surrounded by the "true crime vultures" who will probably be beating each other up for a seat in the courtroom

Seeing the crime scene photos, which will of course get leaked - and the endless media circus.

I understand they want "revenge" and details and all that but this may end up being a better outcome for the families. Skipping all that.

Of course I'm not their families so I don't know how they actually feel but as an outsider I think it might be better this way.

by Anonymousreply 97July 4, 2025 3:40 AM

Sorry but I just think if you are going to plead guilty you should have to explain the WHAT WHERE WHY. Just saying guilty isn't enough. He isn't even required to tell them where the murder weapon is!!!. WTF? Talk about a sweetheart deal.
