Life in prison. No parole.
BREAKING!! Bryan Kohberger takes the plea deal!!
by Anonymous | reply 144 | July 13, 2025 2:42 PM |
Good. The family may want him dead, but given the glacial melting pace of ever getting to the electric chair and given Idaho has executed may 3 or 4 guys in the last 50 years, he's basically in jail for decades either way.

The Death Penalty. Do 2 wrongs make a right?

R3 = the despicable heinous murderer, Bryan Kohberger.

R5: the 5th commandment: thou shalt not kill.
That applies to murderers as well as sanctimonious avengers like you.
It's not a Chinese menu where to get to pick one from Column A and one from Column B.

Agreed. It also costs more to house someone on death row than in the general population.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 30, 2025 11:06 PM |
Did he say why? And I hope he didn't pull that shit Craig Titus did where he admitted to it but kept claiming he didn't really do it. This guy is a piece of shit, he brought about the fucking nightmare scenario of most of the world. Murdering someone in their bed, in their home, while they were sleeping. Fuck him! I really wanted him to face the firing squad like Gary Gilmore, who was way more of a man than him. He better be gag ordered to not write about this, since he fancies himself some criminalist academic, despite being caught pretty quickly.

He's gonna get deleted pretty quickly after he gets clapped up. But perhaps real justice is having him languish in prison? The families deserve justice and they should have been consulted. He took 4 lives ffs.

He might have to R19. I'm pretty sure this fucking creep did. But everyone already knew he did it, except his asshole parents. Now he lives with them, with pics of his bro everywhere and I'm sure his weird mom guilt trips him constantly.

by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 30, 2025 11:33 PM |
Very much against capital punishment but the idea of "prison justice" is more disturbing. Turning a blind eye to convicted murderers and other violent criminals reoffending is a failure of the system. Let him suffer in confinement for the rest of his life.

R25, about 20 years ago, there was a Catholic priest from the Boston area who was found guilty of child molestation. He met his end swiftly at the hands of an inmate who was in for life. IIRC no one really had a problem with how that played out. Sometimes people give up their right to life for their crimes against humanity.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 1, 2025 12:35 AM |
R25 your sanctimonious take is disturbing to me. I hope he's murdered viciously at the hands of inmates. He deserves the same as he gave. He killed a dog too as practice. Old testament his ass.

R33, she was expected to be called as a witness. I assumed he was parked away from the house, observing. The driver said he was parked right next to her. He had a plan, and nothing was going to stop him from entering that house and executing (no pun intended) that plan.
R35, I believe LE said he was not responsible for what happened to the dog. They also investigated whether he could have been responsible for several cold cases and other unsolved cases back in PA. Nope.

I thought it was interesting what was explained this morning on the Today Show by attorney/co-host, Laura Jarrett. The State is the plaintiff, not the families. The Prosecution did not have to ask the families what they wanted or do what they wanted. The State makes the decision. This surprised me because it wasn't always presented that way on L&O.
It's scary to think he might have gotten away with 4 murders if he hadn't left the knife sheath.
The Prosecution did not have to ask the families what they wanted or do what they wanted. The State makes the decision. This surprised me because it wasn't always presented that way on L&O.
The prosecutor/DA decides which charges will be pursued or whether to offer a plea deal. The judge in the case can reject the deal, however, and order the case to go to trial.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | July 1, 2025 1:51 PM |
R46 Yeah, that's always the case, that's why no one gives a shit if the family of the killed forgives him. I mean, that's cool and all, good for you being all zen about shit, but we don't trust this fucker and we're locking him up. See; Bart Whittaker. His christian dad forgave him for ambushing the family after a dinner to celebrate his (non existent) college graduation. His brother and mom were killed, his dad survived. He was initially on death row, Texas and all, and then taken off, inexplicably. His dad remarried and did the book tour, "I forgive him and I know my wife and son would." Good for you, you're the one who fucked him up to begin with. But anyone who would rage kill their fucking mom and bro, can't be trusted. That's why the state is the plaintiff, and not dummies like the family.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | July 1, 2025 1:52 PM |
R53 it's wasn't really inexplicable. The father appealed directly to Greg Abbot, the governor, and, because these are white people, he was taken off death row.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | July 1, 2025 1:55 PM |
It was an economic decision, trials like that are very expensive to put on for the state, even when it’s a slam dunk. I can’t imagine how devastating this has been for the families of the victims, but I can’t help but wonder if part of their bitterness stems from the extension of their 15 minutes of fame coming to an abrupt end. Particularly the Goncalves family.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 1, 2025 1:56 PM |
I don't know R55, even if they're famous, I doubt they'd choose this. They had a fucking horrible thing happen to their kid, a cowardly fucking monster killed her in her bed. They probably rather not have had that happen.

I still don't get how this was done so quickly and quietly, except they really all must have been wasted. Even the guy was dispatched without a fight. And I want to know which one was crying and being comforted by him before he killed them. I want to know how it went down, and then, throw him in gen pop and let him get Dahmered.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | July 1, 2025 2:11 PM |
I think he'll have elocute in court to the judge but we'll never know the details. They need to make sure he actually did it and, if details don't add up, the judge may deny the plea deal.
I know L&O is a fictionalized TV show. I was thinking of one particular episode where there were multiple people killed. McCoy asked the spouse of one victims and he asked what the others decided and the man said he would agree with their decision.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | July 1, 2025 2:23 PM |

No it wasn’t. There wouldn’t be any trials going by that logic. They simply did not have hard evidence that would stand up in court. Touch DNA is pseudoscience and the idiots bulldozed down the crime scene. The prosecution was simply not equipped to handle this case.

by Anonymous | reply 66 | July 1, 2025 3:39 PM |
"They simply did not have hard evidence that would stand up in court."
They have a VERY strong circumstantial case. Security cameras caught his car on his entire route that night. Kohberger is trained in criminal science. If he thought there was ANY way he could get off by going to trial, he would go to trial.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | July 1, 2025 3:48 PM |
Personally, r64, I do not want to even think about the weight of Momma's Mussy.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | July 1, 2025 3:51 PM |
Wasn't it an observant chick who worked at a gas station that noticed the white Hyundai? Without her, we wouldn't have known what car to look for. But of course once they had him as a suspect, his shit all proved he was at and around the crime scene. Bringing your phone to a murder is always a great idea. And the knife sheath. Yeah R67, he was fucked. Also, lol at "trained in criminal science" not so much so that he didn't make stupid, rookie, mistakes.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | July 1, 2025 4:01 PM |

R39, you've added nothing to this conversation save for your supposed snark. You also seem to lack the comprehension skills necessary to navigate a simple comment based on facts.
R69, LE already had the make and model of his car but had not yet released the info to the public because they were building their case. When the store mgr. went to the press, LE released a BOLO intentionally misleading the public by saying they were looking for more than one person seen in the Hyundai the night of the murders. They were closing in, so they didn't want to spook Kohberger.

by Anonymous | reply 75 | July 1, 2025 5:24 PM |
It was ultimately Kohberger's decision to plead guilty. He probably agreed to the plea ... because he was guilty. And didn't want to die. Or have to hear it laid out how his perfect murder plan went awry.
The prosecution probably offered the plea in part because of recent trials like the Karen Read trial. You can present all the evidence which all points to the culprit, but in a high profile case based on circumstantial evidence if there is enough of an intersection of a) true crime fraus all stoked up on on conspiracy theories and b) low information people easily manipulated by disinformation campaigns, the jury pool can be impacted and a jury may ignore or disbelieve the evidence and acquit. A Kohberger acquittal is too frightening to contemplate.
I can see the families being upset if they think won't get all the information about the crime without the trial. Hopefully the prosecutors make all evidence and information learned available to them. Maybe Kohberger has agreed to provide more information.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | July 1, 2025 5:53 PM |
He should have gone to trial. Probably would have been acquitted.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | July 1, 2025 6:02 PM |
R76, have you ever considered that Karen Read being acquitted had nothing to do with "true crime fraus" and everything to do with a prosecution that couldn't find ONE expert to testify that a vehicle collision actually happened?
But yeah, keep comparing a woman who drove while drunk to a man who broke into a home and stabbed four people to death with a hunting knife.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | July 1, 2025 6:24 PM |
Does the plea deal mean the families can sue this incel in a civil trial for any monies he or his jail-fraud may try to collect from memoirs, movie options, etc?
by Anonymous | reply 79 | July 1, 2025 6:46 PM |
Also, some of the media coverage of this plea deal makes mention of the families being "denied" the opportunity to hear the guy explain "why he did it." As if this punk wouldn't just bullshit from the stand? He's a psychopath, for god's sake.
Every word issuing from his mouth would be calculated to manipulate and self-aggrandize. Better to ignore him and let gen pop deal with his sorry ass.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | July 1, 2025 7:03 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 82 | July 1, 2025 7:39 PM |
Maybe the families are upset that they will be denied the right to give victim impact statements.
Even so, I'm inclined to doubt that screaming, crying, carrying on, or hurling invective in a courtroom would mean shit to that guy.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | July 1, 2025 7:43 PM |
R83 I don't think it means shit to anyone. I always cringe when the families scream at the people, because they don't give a shit, if they did, they wouldn't be killing people to begin with. It makes me sad to see a little old mom who is just destroyed from the death of her kid tell some pile of shit that he's monster and she hopes he feels bad everyday, etc. Because they don't fucking care.

I suspect the parents don't know how much agony this will spare them. Sitting in court, listening to the gruesome details("she cried for her mom as I stabbed her again" for instance)- no thanks, do they really want to know that? I made that up, btw I am not BK lurking in the Datalounge - that's exactly the sort of thing that breaks my heart when I hear it on Dateline or whatever
Surrounded by the "true crime vultures" who will probably be beating each other up for a seat in the courtroom
Seeing the crime scene photos, which will of course get leaked - and the endless media circus.
I understand they want "revenge" and details and all that but this may end up being a better outcome for the families. Skipping all that.
Of course I'm not their families so I don't know how they actually feel but as an outsider I think it might be better this way.

How did he kill 4 people so efficiently in just a few minutes? He seems like a bumbling moron.
I think the DoorDash driver AND Dylan the roommate were both accomplices.
by Anonymous | reply 118 | July 6, 2025 1:05 AM |
TLDR.
Has there been any mention of a motive yet?
by Anonymous | reply 119 | July 6, 2025 1:08 AM |
So when are we going to hear from Dylan “I think my roommates might have been murdered, but I’m not sure so I’m just going to go back to bed and see what’s up around noon tomorrow” Mortensen?
She’ll never have high blood pressure…that’s one hell of a type-B personality.

Riiiiight. And the person they caught and want to put to death has said nothing about TWO accomplices that there isn’t a scrap of evidence to support they were?
How badly did he shit his pants when he realized he left it there?
And how badly when the cops pulled him over with his dad relatively shortly after he committed them? I had a cop pull behind me yesterday and was worried and I hadn’t done anything wrong. Imagine this guy’s conscience.

Bryan = "But I have the fucking murder weapon.!! It's really sharp and has all kinds of DNA on it.!! I also have the mask I wore!! What kind of idiot D.A. wouldn't want those in the evidence file!!?
D.A.= "Not interested. But thanks anyways. There are a lot of crazy murder memorabilia collectors out there. Bet you can make a lot of money from them! Congrats!!"

What the fuck? What happened to the son of Sam law? I know disgusting Jodi Arias makes money off her gross chola art, I can't believe people buy that fat fuck from Long Island's crap too. It's pretty easy to get away witk killing hookers, that's not impressive. I can't believe bumbler Kohberger wants to compare himself to Bundy. Bundy had to pretend to be injured and talk people into going with him, he also used his hands. This clown breaks in while people are asleep and uses a knife. I bet if you asked Bundy why he didn't use a weapon, though, he'd say it's because it'd be much too easy to leave it behind, but you know all about that, right, you pale fuck!

He seemed like someone who simply wanted to see what it felt like to kill. It doesn’t scream sexual motive as much as your garden variety psychopath with autism.

R126, John Waters house is full of it. He has one of the biggest serial killer memorabilia collections in the country. People are weird.

I don't care that he is getting life, but he should have to reveal specific facts of his crime. I watch the REAL court videos on YT and there was a perv being charged for like his 3rd offense of child abuse---you know what he did. The D.A. offered a lenient plea deal. The judge looked at the D.A. and asked the D.A. [bold] "Are you afraid of a jury? Are you afraid to try a case? You have all of this evidence and all of this prior criminal conduct and THIS is the deal you offer? The plea is rejected".[/bold]....Judge Stevens in Texas.

The sheath DNA was based on touch DNA which would have been laughed out of court. That’s why they offered a plea. Touch DNA is pseudoscience and has one of the largest false positive rates out of any forensic testing. They simply were in over their heads and had no idea how to conduct an investigation.

R129, nothing that comes out of his mouth can be believed. It’s pointless.

No doubt there was drug activity going on in that house. It was a party house that had the cops called on it a million times. They took their time alerting authorities so they could be sure there wasn’t any incriminating evidence. It was a disaster waiting to happen.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | July 6, 2025 10:23 PM |
R130, do you really believe that’s the only evidence they have?
If their case is a bunch of nothing, why is he taking the plea then? Nobody forced the defendant to accept a plea, he can still go to trial if he wants to roll the dice. But no, he agreed to four life sentences, meaning he will never see the light of day as a free man again because…the prosecutor doesn’t have any evidence? Mmmmkay.

These killers LOVE to talk. Go watch "interview with a killer"....The "worlds oldest serial killer" got a 2 hour episode he told so much about each victim. Their last words were chilling. The guy who interviews the killers usually mops them up and calls the killers on their bullshit. Kohlberger is going to go on one of these shows. Wait and See.

R130 Thinks she's smart, but she's a moron. A dangerous combo. Touch DNA isn’t some snake oil forensic trick—it’s legit science, backed by STR analysis that pinned Kohberger with odds tighter than your grip on that conspiracy rag. The plea deal? Not a desperate dodge but a calculated move to spare families a circus, despite the prosecution’s stacked deck of surveillance, cell data, and that pesky DNA. And “in over their heads”? The FBI, Idaho cops, and Othram labs had Kohberger cuffed in six weeks.
You're not one of those dummies who insisted he was innocent for months on end, are you.

These parents who want vengeance often are the ones who, even after attending the electrocution or whatever, find that they still aren't satisfied. the ones who aren't famewhores often realize that the death penalty is pointless and won't bring back their loved one.

Defense attorneys don't take life/no release deals based on bogus-evidence threats, which can provide hung juries. And Kohberger is a control-freak, engaged defendant who has his own cunning in terms of assessing relative risks.

Has he revealed how he came to focus on Madison Mogen - who I believe was killed first?
From what I've read she was his real target and the others just happened to be there.

Why should the people of the US pay enormous sums to keep a multiple murderer alive in a prison until he dies. What's the point of it.
by Anonymous | reply 141 | July 13, 2025 3:25 AM |
It is reportedly more expensive for the system to prosecute through inevitable, endless appeals on a Death Row case.
A life in prison sentence is cheaper for the state.
