BREAKING: Multiple firefighters shot in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, while responding to a brush fire

Who would shoot firefighters? That’s like shooting Fido.

Listened to some of the replay of the scanner. Horrific, including audio of one of the firefighters that had been shot begging for medical assistance. Feel so bad for that man and the other firefighters. They did nothing to deserve this. Firefighters are literally the good guys.
That area is full of aggressive nutjobs and has been for as long as I've been alive. (Millennial here.) I remember on a road trip when I was a boy we stopped in southern Idaho at a visitor's center and the nice lady there asked us where we were headed because she wanted to make sure we had no plans of going into the northern part of the state.

I went thru Coeur d'Alene when I was a teenage runaway in the mid 70s. I actually got a job with and slept at the St Vincent D'Paul thrift store there. And had a lovely affair with a 20 year named Craig . But I digress. Back then it was a very beautiful area and every single person my queeny teen ass met was nothing but kind . It saddens me to see what its become since then . All those freaks around there needed was permission and they got it from the White House. This is just the start .

Have the right-wing media and influencers begun insisting that the shooter(s) is a registered Democrat or an illegal immigrant? If not, you know they will be very soon. They'll start circulating photos of random people, claiming that it's the shooter and he was a big supporter of Biden/Harris.

I’ve spent a lot of time in Couer d’Alene through the years as I have a lot of family in Montana and have passed through that region countless times while traveling from the west coast. Northern Idaho does famously have a skinhead population and while most of the state is conservative, Couer d’Alene proper is not necessarily representative of that—you have to go further north to the Sandpoint region which is where there is a legitimate hub or neo-Nazis. Couer d’Alene is a wealthy resort town and while it’s definitely on the conservative side, it is not a backwater shithole like some might imagine. There is a lot of money there.

by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 30, 2025 5:28 AM |
This is the government's fault.
Both the Federal Government and the government of the State of Idaho have done NOTHING about about these white christian nationalist, doomsday prepper, anti-government NUTJOBS since the days of Ruby Ridge in Northern Idaho, over 33 years ago.
They just let the problem fester, and fester, and fester, instead of rooting these assholes out of Northern Idaho and getting rid of the entire lot of them.
Now Idaho is reaping what it has sowed.
Until the Feds and the State of Idaho GET RID of these people once and for all, this will continue to be a problem, and more people will be lost.
Bill Clinton and Janet Reno tried to enforce the law at Ruby Ridge and Waco, Texas, but the nutjobs made them out to be the bad guys.
Either DO SOMETHING about them, or don't cry about it.
[quote] Randy Weaver, a former Iowa factory worker and U.S. Army soldier, moved with his wife and four children to northern Idaho during the 1980s so they could "home-school his children and escape what he and his wife Vicki saw as a corrupted world." In 1978, Vicki, the religious leader of the family, began to have recurrent dreams of living on a mountaintop and believed that the apocalypse was imminent. After the birth of their son, Samuel, the Weavers began selling their belongings and visited the Amish to learn how to live without electricity. They bought twenty acres of land on Ruby Ridge in 1983 and began building a cabin; the property was in Boundary County on a hillside on Ruby Creek opposite Caribou Ridge, northwest of nearby Naples.
[quote] In 1984, Randy Weaver and his neighbor Terry Kinnison had a dispute over a $3,000 land deal. Kinnison lost the ensuing lawsuit and was ordered to pay Weaver an additional $2,100 in court costs and damages. Kinnison wrote letters to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Secret Service, and the county sheriff in which he alleged that Weaver had threatened to kill Pope John Paul II, President Ronald Reagan, and Idaho Governor John V. Evans.
[quote] In January 1985, the FBI and the Secret Service launched an investigation into allegations that Weaver had made threats against Reagan and other government and law enforcement officials. On February 12, Weaver and his wife were interviewed by two FBI agents, two Secret Service agents, and the Boundary County sheriff and his chief investigator. The Secret Service had been told that Weaver was a member of Aryan Nations (an antisemitic, neo-Nazi, white supremacist terrorist organization) and that he had a large weapons cache at his residence. Weaver denied these allegations, and the government filed no charges. On three or four occasions, the Weavers had attended Aryan Nations meetings at Hayden Lake, where there was a compound for government resisters and white supremacists/separatists.
[quote] The investigation noted that Weaver associated with Frank Kumnick, who was known to associate with members of Aryan Nations. Weaver told the investigators that neither he nor Kumnick was a member of Aryan Nations but he stated that Kumnick was "associated with The Covenant, The Sword, and the Arm of the Lord." On February 28, Randy and Vicki Weaver filed an affidavit with the county courthouse alleging that their personal enemies were plotting to provoke the FBI into attacking and killing the Weaver family. On May 6, the Weavers sent President Reagan a letter claiming that their enemies may have sent Reagan a threatening letter under a forged signature. In 1992, the prosecutor cited the 1985 letter as an overt act of the Weaver family conspiracy against the federal government.

Idaho is fucked up. One of my dearest friends is from just outside Boise. All three children went out of state for college. Two, thank their lucky stars they did. They go back only to see Mom and Dad, who know they are surrounded by kooks, but won’t move out because it’s “home.”
The oldest child got an advanced degree and then permanently returned. He’s now a prepper, a rascist and a Nazi.

💯 R42. The government treats these nutjobs with kid gloves. Also the Obama crowd allowed those loonies in Oregon to take over federal buildings. They should have blown them away like in Waco, but by that time they had been so cowed by the right wing mouthpieces.
I recall Rush Limpballs hollering about Janet Napolitano's report saying that right wing neo-Nazis were the greatest terrorist threat. After all of the Republican screeching, she backed off on that.

R59 I can't argue with your assertions. Appeasement always seems to be the Democrats MO. All we have to do is look at how Biden/Garland handled Trump and the insurrectionists in Congress. There were 147 members who refused to acknowledge the election. The hearings proved that it wasn't simply a riot, it was planned and deliberate and part of a larger conspiracy to stop the government and overthrow the election. And now, as a result we have extremists RUNNING our government and Trump as POTUS.

Actually Idaho despite what so many posters believe has one of the lowest homicide rates of any state in the US per capita per crime for that matter
Report Highlights: The CDC reports murder rates using death certificate information in all 3,144 U.S. counties. Murder rates vary widely between states.
Murder rates in the U.S. increased by 17% from 2018 to 2021.
Washington, D.C., has the highest murder rate at 30 per 100,000 in 2023.
Louisiana and Mississippi have the second and third highest murder rates, with over 18 homicides per 100,000 people (2018–2023).
Idaho, New Hampshire, Utah and Wyoming had the lowest murder rates between 2018 and 2023 (fewer than 2.5 per 100,000).

by Anonymous | reply 119 | July 2, 2025 8:10 PM |
R119, I meant, just in general. Republicans are obsessed with crime and murder rates. What gives? Do you go around everywhere assuming that there is some Boogeyman looking to kill you or something? I guess FOX News rots your brain in this regard.
by Anonymous | reply 120 | July 2, 2025 8:13 PM |
Yes of course R120. Anyone who disagrees with you watches FOX news.
by Anonymous | reply 121 | July 2, 2025 8:39 PM |
R121, well if an idiot keeps obsessing with "CRIME RATES!!!" it usually does indicate that they are a moronic Republican.
by Anonymous | reply 122 | July 2, 2025 8:51 PM |
Jesus you low IQ cunt R122. When DLers complain about how states like Idaho produce homicidal maniacs at such a high rate then it's not completely unrelated to bring up the stats for murder and deduce that that conclusion is wrong when it has among the lowest murder rates in the country.
by Anonymous | reply 123 | July 2, 2025 9:23 PM |
R123, sure, troll. I see this is the only thread you've posted on here on DL as well. Go sit on a bison horn, you smelly bitch.
by Anonymous | reply 124 | July 2, 2025 9:26 PM |
R124 no it's not the "only thread", you retarded freak. It's the only thread I've posted in that you've also posted in.
You probably only contribute to threads about Golden Girls reruns or fisting and spying on your twink neighbor.
by Anonymous | reply 125 | July 2, 2025 9:31 PM |
Oh nevermind. I see that R124 et al is DeFatso. I guess freak was right.
by Anonymous | reply 126 | July 2, 2025 9:33 PM |
Personally, I only contribute to threads about the Golden Girls fisting twink neighbors.
by Anonymous | reply 127 | July 2, 2025 9:38 PM |
Figured it would be the Frog Face.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | July 2, 2025 9:40 PM |
He must live on DL, what a fucking loser.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | July 2, 2025 9:42 PM |
In case you didn’t know bison are land dwellers.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | July 2, 2025 9:44 PM |
R126, as if DeFuckto would ever be railing against conservatives, you fucking idiot.
by Anonymous | reply 131 | July 2, 2025 9:47 PM |
Give it up Defartso R131, your trolling ways are easy to spot.
by Anonymous | reply 132 | July 2, 2025 9:49 PM |
Idaho does have one of the highest suicide rates
Maybe all those militia dudes can't handle life
by Anonymous | reply 133 | July 2, 2025 9:52 PM |
R132, keep defending Idaho. It seems like the type of place where you belong.
by Anonymous | reply 134 | July 2, 2025 9:58 PM |
Also from R132. Hmmm. Always lodging such an impassioned defense for conservatives.
[quote] The theory that a conservative shot at firefighters for political reasons doesn't make sense to me.
by Anonymous | reply 135 | July 2, 2025 9:59 PM |
You are out of your intellectual depth in a conversation that includes statistics and numbers, DeFucktard R134.
Isn't there a thread about McRibs you can contribute to?
by Anonymous | reply 136 | July 2, 2025 10:01 PM |
R136, why are you defending conservatives? You keep evading that inconvenient truth.
by Anonymous | reply 137 | July 2, 2025 10:01 PM |
R136 = a little MAGA foot soldier. Like a sad, smelly clown.
by Anonymous | reply 138 | July 2, 2025 10:07 PM |
R136, that dipshit thinks he's being real clever and coy. I can smell a conservative piece of shit a mile away.
by Anonymous | reply 139 | July 2, 2025 10:11 PM |
R139 still angry about losing the argument are you? Don't worry, one day you'll earn the rest of your anthropology credits and get out of retail. Maybe one day you can work with men.
by Anonymous | reply 140 | July 2, 2025 10:15 PM |
R140, still evading the question, I see. What brings you to mount such defense for conservatives?
by Anonymous | reply 141 | July 2, 2025 10:20 PM |
I defend honesty. What makes you so afraid of it R141? Is it because your sad little world view might be challenged and crumble?
by Anonymous | reply 142 | July 2, 2025 10:23 PM |
I think a lot of gay men have this silly fantasy of some firefighter carrying them away from danger and then engaging in a night of hot passionate sex. Most firefighters are the same conservative MAGAs that would throw you in a fire if they knew you were gay
by Anonymous | reply 143 | July 2, 2025 10:29 PM |
R142, only in bizarro, topsy-turvy FOX News planet does American conservatism equal anything remotely approaching honesty.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | July 2, 2025 10:34 PM |
We all see right through you, r142. It doesn't matter how many W/Ws you give yourself.
by Anonymous | reply 145 | July 2, 2025 10:38 PM |
And I can smell your diseased prolapsed hole from here R145. No matter how many times you FF, anyone can you lost the argument.
by Anonymous | reply 146 | July 2, 2025 10:40 PM |
R146 the homophobic insults are rich coming from someone who admits they're not even a gay man.
[quote] why are gay men so arrogant?

Funny that so many people on DL think the most radical admin in modern US history is somehow conservative.

Also from R136:
[quote] It truly is strange how obsessed with teens gay men on this site are, much moreso than the average adult. R18 go back to your underage porn.

More wisdom from R146:

by Anonymous | reply 151 | July 3, 2025 11:24 AM |
Is R136 a dyke?
by Anonymous | reply 152 | July 3, 2025 11:33 AM |
R149 I do believe that most true maga understand they are involved with something new and radical at least as far as modern US history. They are trying to totally remake America with a radical populist make over.
DL is more conservative than maga.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | July 3, 2025 11:35 AM |
What other things do you have to say about gay men, DYKE R136?
by Anonymous | reply 154 | July 3, 2025 11:42 AM |
I just know if some leftist assholes had done anything like storm the capitol, stalk and kill Republican politicians in their homes, set fires and murdered firefighters or car bombed a Tesla truck outside a casino, Republicans would never shut up about it. There would be mass arrests and martial law. Yet democrats or anyone else don't seem to give a shit about these terrorists
by Anonymous | reply 155 | July 3, 2025 11:52 AM |
So true r155!

I posted this on the latest Nancy Mace thread. Fits here just as well.
[QUOTE]I've got to think that somewhere down the line, after I'm dead no doubt, the GOP will be known by history as a party that attracted mental illness and became an echo chamber that propagated new, more virulent forms of the various Axis I and II disorders. And some new ones.
by Anonymous | reply 158 | July 3, 2025 12:17 PM |
R158 If you can’t win elections , then hoping those that do win will be known for bad things long after you are dead , runs a close second.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | July 3, 2025 2:49 PM |
Seems like more people are killed in Chicago every week than in the entire state of Idaho in a year.
