Has anyone seen this film? I have never heard of it and it doesn't seem to be very well known. The Criterion Collection put it out somewhat recently and I came across it while perusing their titles as they're having their 50% off sale now at Barnes & Noble. I've always thought Carradine was sexy as hell and some of the reviews I've read on it describe it as a kind of neon-bathed odyssey through late-night Los Angeles in the '80s. Is it any good?
"Choose Me" (1984) starring Keith Carradine, Geneviève Bujold, and Lesley Ann Warren

If I recall correctly, the Village Voice praised it at the time. My Cinderella!

The movie has somewhat of a cult following.

I saw this many years ago, maybe when it was first released. I enjoyed it quite a bit; it has a great soundtrack and a funny/sad tone, with beautiful people being totally confused by love.

Saw it in the theater and remember loving it. So many great indie movies in the ‘80s.

Another mid-'80s neon LA nighttime odyssey (albeit much lighter, more humorous fare) is "Modern Girls" with Cynthia Gibb, Virginia Madsen, and Daphne Zuniga.

Choose Me is one of my all-time-favorite movies, OP. I've watched it many times over the years.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

It's really entertaining, Bujold is excellent.

I had more fun in the 80s than any other decade.

I watched it because of this thread yesterday! It was very much of its time, and it was fun to be in its little world. It was clunky but Keith Carradine's character--not to mention KC the actor--was very sexy. His performance kept me interested, as did Lesley Ann Warren's.
LAW should have had a bigger career. I find her fascinating to watch and she's so pretty.

Very well acted film by Robert Altman’s protégé.
A young John Larroquette has a small role. Carradine, Bujold, and Warren are superb.

R10, Jon Peters, her first husband, also expected her to have a better career. When that didn't happen moved on to Streisand. Or so the story went at the time.

Genevieve is hilarious as the radio sex therapist who is actually a virgin!

Good movie. And I adored Keith Carradine who was so attractive and had a low key but slow burn sexiness. He aged about as well as you'd expect with his fine bone structure. He's 75 and I'm 63 and I'd still fuck him.

Keith, choose me; I'm easy!

I think Lesley Warren was my first celebrity crush, back in 1965 when Cinderella came out.
We had a black and white TV.
Yes, I knew I was a lesbian when I was just a pup. I just didn't know what it was called.

The poster was tacked up in the backroom of the video store I worked in in the late 80s, so it strikes up a sense memory of stale cigarette smoke and Red Vines.
Also on the wall.... My Chauffer, Saturday the 14th, and Student Bodies.

Just watched it tonight. A lovely, beautiful, downbeat film. Subtle but effective performances from the main cast. Lesley Ann Warren is beautiful in this, and Keith Carradine is sexy as usual. Really enjoyed this one.

Keith Carradine is a gorgeous man. At 57, he had a hotter ass than most 25 year olds.

Loved him (and his ass!) in Dexter, R20!

"Lok the Door!"
The phrase that always comes to mind when I think of Lesley Ann Warren

There's an interview segment between Carradine and the director, Alan Rudolph, on the Criterion disc, which was shot in 2024. Carradine looks like a grandpa in it, but a damn sexy one. Still sharp and articulate, and he's truly aged like fine wine. He's still slim, fit, and handsome. The beauty he had in his youth is still there, which is a rare thing. Even if you had no idea what he looked like in his prime years, one could see him today and instantly know that the man was a smokeshow in his youth.
