The show has unfortunately become background noise for me. I really needed the camp and over-the-top antics to keep my attention. DOOL isn't on network or even cable and they've never really taken advantage of this.

I'm still giving the new writers a chance. It's still early, but you can see where they're laying the groundwork for stories. I am curious where they're going with this One Stormy Night book story and what EJ's big plan for the hospital is.

I agree that the show doesn't take advantage of being on Peacock and modernizing the language and the stories, but then I remember that Days still has to sell the show to foreign markets, so they want to keep it as close to a network broadcast as possible.

I still can't believe Paul and Andrew HUGGED instead of kissed at their wedding.

I know that Shawn and Caroline still loved John after he was revealed to not be ROman... DId John continue to call them Ma and Pop for the rest of their lives or did he stop at some point?

John called Caroline Brady by the name "Carolyn" after it was revealed she wasn't his biological mother. Thereby, John mispronounced the name of the woman he at one time thought was his mother.

But in fairness, half the town referred to her as "Carolyn" seeming to think that was the proper pronunciation of name Caroline,

Caroline and Carolyn are in fact two separate names with two separate pronunciations. The pronunciations are not interchangeable. Neither are the spellings.

One Stormy Night sounds like a gothic mystery and not a steamy love story. Lousy title in keeping with the lack of imagination on this program. And when they actually write an episode that works on many levels (Paul and Andrew's wedding), they have to obliterate it by not having the couple kiss but just hug. Sadly, I think this show is lurching toward a most unsatisfying conclusion.

One Stormy Night was the name of a Days primetime episode that aired in January 1992 immediately before the Soap Opera Digest Awards.

Days usually won a lot of those Soap Digest Awards, so it was a natural to do a primetime episode of Days immediately before the awards.

Gwen's return was anticlimactic, and I frankly think that the only upcoming return that might jolt this tired old dinosaur into something resembling life, is Sami's return. Alison manages to bring the kind of energy to her role that was once normal for a soap. Gwen was DOA as far as I was concerned. There was nothing multidimensional about her scenes. I would never have thought I would use the word dull to describe Emily or her characterization but that's what it was. She, Chad and Julie did nothing g with the scene and I hope Gwen's stay is very short unless they plan to surprise us by making her someone interesting again.

I'll stick it out through Sami's return but the pacing, writing and lack of imaginative storytelling may finally dull my interest after decades of watching.

It's too difficult to tell now that SOD is no longer at the supermarket checkout.

Soap time exists outside our reality when pregnancies can last 15 months and kids age 10 years at summer camp. One day on a show can span several weeks in our own real time. There are probably 2-3 months passed in a soap year.

I don't the find the show bad. I like Leo/Javi and Baby Tesoro, which spills over into the teen quad and Melinda. I'm also not upset about the Xander/Sarah story. Not everything is perfect, but the show is way better than it was. I wish they would end the business stories, Days has never been that show.

I don't think CBS has had much to say about the EP/HW situation over at Y&R for years and years now.

While it's true that CBS got Lynn Latham in there way back in 2006 (because she was a pal of CBS' Barbara Bloom), Sony took the first opportunity they could to can Latham when the 2007-08 writer's strike hit. .. And the last time a head of CBS Daytime had much sway at the show was when Angela McDaniel was in the position. But her whole thing was mainly about casting and trying to get "big names" (prime time actors) on the soap. .. Ever since CBS ousted her (2019), and the Baby Bells also took a step back from Y&R, Sony's Steve Kent has pretty much determined who holds the EP and HW spots there. This is why Josh Griffith has been in there so long. They're buddies going way back to Santa Barbara.

I don't mind some of Carlivati's work, but honestly I think he would be a horrible fit at Y&R.

I'd rather see Sony hire someone for HW like Gregori Martin, who I find amazingly talented. And then to rediscover some of Y&R's Big 80s past, add Christian McLaughlin as an associate writer.

The storylines are just not interesting. Some drag on for eternity and others go at warp speed.

How is Johnny already on trial for the attempted murder of EJ? How are EJ and Belle so involved in Johnny's trial? EJ still doesn't know who shot him and is going through hypnosis with Marlena - all within the same episodes. I know this is DOOL and over-the-top is the norm. But this is just stupid.

I am really going to miss DW3 - he brought something different to canvas not being a clone of every other male on the show.

I do think I've figured out how they are going to figure out Tate was not the father of Sophia's baby. Sarah has figured out Sophia was pregnant with a boy and given her and Brady's evolving friendship, they are going to zero in on Leo and Javi's foster child. Amy Cho also was suspicious following her "bonding" with the baby. I think Sarah and Brady are going to push for a DNA test with Tate and the baby. As we've suspected, Tate is going to be determined to not be the father. That said, it will verify Sophia's "story." Next issue though - it will do nothing to resolve the storyline, and it will continue to drone on.

At first, I thought that Ron was setting up Aaron to be Tesaro's father, but I think, if that was ever the plan, it's been dropped. I do believe that Tate is the kid's father. I think they're taking Sophia to crazy town, and she's going to fuck with Tate and Holly - which is fine by me.

DOOL very own Dollar Tree Kristen had Stacy Haiduk playing "Patty Williams, Dr. Emily Peterson, and Mary Jane Benson" -- all three being part of the same storyline. Tracey Bregman played both "Lauren Fenmore" and the infamous Sheila Carter's sister named "Sarah Smythe." And "Shelia" (Kimberlin Brown) herself also played "Sugar" on both Y&R and B&B. Michelle Stafford has also played both "Phyllis Summers" and "Sheila Carter," which no one has ever attempted to explain.

I loved Julianne Moore as Frannie and Sabrina.....even if her English accent was a bit dodgy (an issue she's struggled with all through her career, no less).

There is still a chance they could bring back the original friendly and warm Kristen as played by Eileen Davidson. It would be pretty easy to write as Stefano impregnated Susan off-camera at the same time as Kristen suddenly switched personalities from good to evil.

That means Susan was being groomed by Stefano for at least six months before she was actually revealed on camera, plenty of time for Stefano to arrange for Kristen to be kidnapped to keep her away from John.

Kristen was good. She believed in God, helped teens with HIV, coached little league, and was an angel. Alice Horton loved her. She was supposed to marry Tony, but fell in love with John. Stefano had "raised" Kristen and Peter, but he really wanted Kristen married to Tony, and someone got shot at their first wedding attempt off-camera.

Kristen's switch was gradual, in character, and made perfect sense. Marlena just wouldn't go away and it broke Kristen.

Since we're talking about character switches, Sami's character switch was great too, another bit of fallout from John and Marlena.

Stacey H. is not Eileen Davidson, but she's fine for what she's doing. It's the same with Dan F. He's some alternate universe EJ. He's fine, but not really the EJ I want on screen.

I’ve never really warmed to Dan F. He’s not bad in the role. He’s just a pale imitation to James Scott who was gorgeous.

James was just so good as EJ. Dan may also be physically big, but he's just not as attractive as James. And he's not as subtle in playing (setting the rape aside) that slightly rakish thing EJ did well.
