Why did Gen X go hard for Trump?

What happened?

by Anonymousreply 17July 3, 2025 5:16 AM

Haven't we done this so many times before? Whatever, dude.

This discussion was a lot more interesting before it got all mainstream.

This discussion won't end until you all own up to it.

by Anonymousreply 2June 28, 2025 6:49 AM

It was the height of irony.

R1 You guys are so hardcore. Why would some random thread bother you?

by Anonymousreply 4June 28, 2025 6:53 AM

You guys drank out of WATER HOSES after all.

by Anonymousreply 5June 28, 2025 6:54 AM

Gen X,

This is the mistake that you're going to wish that you never made.

daddy issues

by Anonymousreply 7June 28, 2025 8:33 AM

They are wannabe baby boomers.

by Anonymousreply 8July 3, 2025 4:13 AM

Is this actually true? What are the statistics?

by Anonymousreply 9July 3, 2025 4:37 AM

Oh, we don't do stats here, henny. Gut feelings only.

by Anonymousreply 10July 3, 2025 4:43 AM

When you're caught between Boomers on one side and Millennials on the other, maybe allowing an orange idiot to blow it all up seems to be the only way out.

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

The better question is…why does Gen X like to claim that the division started with Obama? How in gods name did he cause division? When you answer that, you get to the bottom of the attraction to Drumpf.

They're the first generation that hasn't done better than their parents. However, they don't connect their votes for Reagan, Bush, Bush and Trump with their decline, but Trump (particularly) and the rest know how to connect the dots for them via Fox and now social media.

We've all heard variants of R11 now for quite a while, and the only question is how much that cost the right to drill into Gen X heads so much so that they'll vote consistently against their self interests... and then angrily wonder why there's nothing there for them.

by Anonymousreply 13July 3, 2025 4:50 AM

Gen X is the reason Zohran Mamdani won his primary in NYC - they turned out in overwhelming numbers for him after not voting in past primaries at all.

So it's not like they're all Republicans. Clearly they're turned off by conventional old-school politicians.

GenX is racist and angry that its Berniebro movement collapsed. Mediocre white guys demanding top down control spoil it for everyone.

Yes I’m sure that’s why.
