I have VERTIGO 🤢😵‍💫

So dizzy I thought it was rabies. The doctor gave me zofran, a patch, and some exercises to do.

by Anonymousreply 31July 4, 2025 5:07 PM

Did you dye your hair and buy a grey women’s dress suit?

by Anonymousreply 1June 26, 2025 1:06 AM

Is your name Lucille Austero?

Do that exercise where you bend all the way forward until your head rests on the floor then tilt your head to one side then the other.

Works every time, without medicine or anything else.

by Anonymousreply 3June 26, 2025 1:09 AM

R2 😂. I love you.

by Anonymousreply 4June 26, 2025 1:14 AM

Go see an ENT. There could be something going on with your inner ear.

by Anonymousreply 5June 26, 2025 1:21 AM

R5. Really? maybe inner ear? Vertigo? No.

by Anonymousreply 6June 26, 2025 1:24 AM

Why the fuck did make the leap to rabies? I would have assumed ear issues or food poisoning

by Anonymousreply 7June 26, 2025 1:26 AM

I had it once after a terrible bout of food poisoning. I had thrown up so violently with my head down in the toilet that I messed up the crystals in my inner ear. It was awful. I couldn't walk or barely crawl for days. I thought I was dying. I tried all the thing mentioned above and eventually it got better. After 4-5 days I could function but took about 3 weeks to be closer to normal. Sorry OP. Hang in there and try all the advice given here until something works. You will be ok but it sucks for sure.

by Anonymousreply 8June 26, 2025 1:29 AM

Good point, R7. Have you had rabies before, OP?

by Anonymousreply 9June 26, 2025 1:30 AM

Don't let anybody bite you!

by Anonymousreply 10June 26, 2025 1:33 AM

R6 either the inner ear or brain. Go see a neurologist OP!

My friend gets it from time to time. In her case inner ear as r5 and r8 suggest. And r8 especially gives me more insight into my friend, who pukes quite often.

by Anonymousreply 12June 26, 2025 1:39 AM

I’ve had this a couple times, hanging my head upside down and tilting it fixed it.

by Anonymousreply 13June 26, 2025 1:46 AM

I will suggest it to my friend

by Anonymousreply 14June 26, 2025 1:53 AM

I’m on a daily diuretic to prevent vertigo episodes. Ménière’s Disease / inner ear pathology. It truly sucks.

by Anonymousreply 15June 26, 2025 1:58 AM

Op has Ebola. Deport him.

by Anonymousreply 16June 26, 2025 2:08 AM

Ginger helps with dizziness. He should be tall, in good shape, and versatile.

by Anonymousreply 17June 26, 2025 2:41 AM

I have had some minor luck with trying this maneuver, it helps by repositioning tiny calcium carbonate crystals (canaliths) in the inner ear that have become dislodged and are causing vertigo. You can do this maneuver several times in a row. Don't expect great changes from it but I have found that it does help a bit.

My Veritgo is caused by a small noncancerous tumor on the nerve connecting the inner ear to the brain.

I had vertigo a few months ago; then I realized I had my contact lenses in the wrong eyes.

by Anonymousreply 19July 3, 2025 4:25 PM

When you stick something in your ear make sure there is cotton on it.

by Anonymousreply 20July 3, 2025 4:33 PM

Ear syphilis, OP.

Tell your doctor what you've been doing with that ear.

by Anonymousreply 21July 3, 2025 4:37 PM

I had it back when synthetic weed was still legal and labs created new variants of HU210 to avoid breaking the law. Then, they all became illegal and I went back to weed.

The nice thing was that the high and its vertigo lasted about 45 minutes and then went abruptly away.

by Anonymousreply 22July 3, 2025 4:44 PM

I have it now too, but it’s positional (turning over in bed or bending my head forward or backwards.) It’s part of my annual sinus infection. I just got a prescription for 10 days of antibiotics but I am not starting until Saturday. I can’t drink alcohol or be in the sun while taking them and that will interfere with my July 4 plans.

R23, I nominate you for Roman Candle holder as well as jello-shot server. The jello bounces, so nothing bad will happen if you lean on a wall.

I got vertigo (and lost some hearing) with motorcycle accident #1, when I fractured my skull on my left side (among other injuries). I still have it. It's not as bad as it used to be, but it's triggered when I look up and when I look down and then up again. There's a lot of things I can't do, or I get dizzy when doing them. I've had all the maneuvers but it never goes away.

People ask me how I ride my motorcycle when I have vertigo. But if I looked up at the sky and then down on the ground while I was riding, I'd be dead for sure! When you're riding, you look straight ahead and all around, but not up and down.

Of course, the VA won't give me a thing for it. I've given up trying. And I've already fallen twice because of it, but both times in the grass, thankfully.

You know what I say about the VA: I don't pay anything for it, and I get exactly what I pay for.

Last October, inhad so Vertigo so bad, I thought I was having a heart attack or stroke

Went to thecER and had a bunch test (EKG/head scan/chest X-ray, etc). I puked in the ER too

The cute ER Dr was like it’s most likely benign positional vertigo. Gave me anti-nasauea, Xanax and some other med. Ended up sleeping the rest of the day

I’ve been dizzy here and there, but never as bad (told my PCP about the episode)

by Anonymousreply 26July 4, 2025 12:19 AM

I'm much better now and only experience vertigo when I get up from the bed. I did the Epley maneuver mentioned by r18 over and over again, and I think that did the trick.

by Anonymousreply 27July 4, 2025 12:24 AM

Be very careful OP if an acquaintance asks you to report on the doings of their wife.

by Anonymousreply 28July 4, 2025 4:01 PM

Hope it's not a symptom of a larger issue - vertigo is up there on my list of the most fucked up and debilitating syndromes.

I wouldn't wish it on my enemy - and I've never even had it. But some family members have.

by Anonymousreply 29July 4, 2025 4:05 PM

I had it, I hope temporarily, for a few weeks right after I had covid. Feel better, OP.

by Anonymousreply 30July 4, 2025 4:52 PM

I have BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE. It's not as good.
