Lisa Murkowski

The moderate Republican from Alaska's new book, Far from Home: An Alaskan Senator Faces the Extreme Climate of Washington, D.C., was released this Tuesday.

Is anyone reading it?

by Anonymousreply 173July 3, 2025 1:19 PM

Probably, but she still votes with Republicans more than she doesn't

by Anonymousreply 1June 25, 2025 6:05 PM

It looks like a short book

by Anonymousreply 2June 25, 2025 7:12 PM

Nope. Why would I? She's still a coward.

It amazes me just how very little it takes for a Republican to get their knob washed by the so-called 'centrists' here.

by Anonymousreply 3June 25, 2025 7:20 PM

R3 She is a centrist

by Anonymousreply 4June 25, 2025 7:47 PM

R4, is that why she votes lock-step with Republicans the vast majority of the time? I'm sorry -- is that something worth applauding for some reason?

by Anonymousreply 5June 25, 2025 7:51 PM

She benefits from the same brain-dead media hype machine that told us Mitt Romney and John McCain were moderates.

She's a Republican when it counts.

by Anonymousreply 6June 25, 2025 7:59 PM

Nauseating "Both-sides"-ism in the title. Only ONE party is causing the "extreme climate in Washington." Hers.

by Anonymousreply 7June 25, 2025 8:06 PM

She’s a fucking quisling. Fuck her

by Anonymousreply 8June 25, 2025 8:08 PM

R6 Susan Collins

by Anonymousreply 9June 25, 2025 8:19 PM

I'm tired of this mean-faced woman and her concerned friend. Fuck these two spineless Nazi enablers.

Have no intention of reading it, but I hope it outsells Tapper's 'Biden' book. That will certainly burn his biscuits.

by Anonymousreply 16June 29, 2025 4:51 PM

Talked all that shit, and then did a complete about face to vote along party lines this morning. Is anyone surprised?

Hi, y'all. I'm back after three years of not posting - waiting for the day I could post for free was not fruitful. Nice to be back! Love to you all!

by Anonymousreply 17June 29, 2025 5:00 PM

She and gal pal Shaky Sue can take a long walk off a short pier. I'm sick of all their concerns and then they vote party line. Fuck them.

by Anonymousreply 18June 29, 2025 5:14 PM

Murkowski's from Alaska, Collins from Maine. I don't put them in the same boat. Just as I didn't lump Manchin & Sinema together.

by Anonymousreply 19June 29, 2025 5:32 PM

They are both " olde, scared, out of touch female rethugs" If they voted for Dtrump, they're Rethugs-scum of the earth!!

Rand Paul, btw a total asshole of the 1st order, has more honor than those 2 olde Rethug Kunts

by Anonymousreply 20June 29, 2025 5:39 PM

Didn't anyone seriously believe the passage of this bill was ever in doubt?

by Anonymousreply 21June 29, 2025 5:45 PM

^ I knew it was all a bunch of media hype. Republicans always fall in line, you can bank on it.

by Anonymousreply 22June 29, 2025 6:04 PM

PA - you have a major imposter in the firm of Fetterman. You need to punt his ass in the direction of the nearest Men's Wearhouse location in '28!

by Anonymousreply 23June 29, 2025 6:09 PM

Medicaid and snap were so important to her constituents that she got a carve out in the bill for her state. Yet in the most cunty thing ever she votes to cut other states constituents off of something she deemed so important for her own state. What do you call that because that’s a level of evil that’s almost incomprehensible to me? She’s a very very bad person.

by Anonymousreply 24June 29, 2025 6:10 PM

Someone should do a Susan Collins version of the bobbing head dog to put on the rear of cars.

I was reading it but you made me throw it in the garbage. Thanks a lot OP. Thanks a lot.

by Anonymousreply 26June 29, 2025 6:24 PM

She’s pitiful

by Anonymousreply 27June 29, 2025 6:26 PM

Yes - as soon as she got special treatment for Alaska, she was ok with everything else in the bill. I don't have much respect for that.

by Anonymousreply 28June 29, 2025 6:29 PM

It doesn't put her in the best light, but it's a greater indictment of her republican colleagues who didn't demand the same deal for their constituents.

by Anonymousreply 29June 29, 2025 6:39 PM

The Senate's parliamentarian today ruled the Medicaid carveout for Alaska violates the Chamber's rules. Will Murkowski vote no on the bill or will Mike Johnson come up with some other bribe, er, incentive to sway her?

by Anonymousreply 30June 29, 2025 6:44 PM

R28 to be fair to her, she is looking out for the people she represents. I respect that way more than just a "yes sir Mr. Trump."

by Anonymousreply 31June 29, 2025 6:45 PM

Murkowski and Collins love to be caught in the middle of the drama.

by Anonymousreply 32June 29, 2025 6:48 PM

[quote] The Senate's parliamentarian today ruled the Medicaid carveout for Alaska violates the Chamber's rules. Will Murkowski vote no on the bill or will Mike Johnson come up with some other bribe, er, incentive to sway her?

Even if she were now to flip, & join Tillis & Paul as a no, the bill still passes, with Vance providing the 51st vote.

by Anonymousreply 33June 29, 2025 6:57 PM

Depends on how concerned I get, R33.

by Anonymousreply 34June 29, 2025 6:59 PM

Jake Sherman believes the Senate will pass the bill tonight.

by Anonymousreply 35June 30, 2025 5:14 PM

She sold out today, for a quick change in SNSP and Medicaid designed to help only Alaska.

by Anonymousreply 36June 30, 2025 5:17 PM

*SNAP

by Anonymousreply 37June 30, 2025 5:17 PM

They got around the ruling by designating “noncontiguous states”—so they can claim it was for geographically remote places rather than just for Alaska.

by Anonymousreply 38June 30, 2025 5:20 PM

But still, the bill doesn't pass or fail on her vote.

by Anonymousreply 39June 30, 2025 5:59 PM

Which is not the point here.

by Anonymousreply 40June 30, 2025 6:00 PM

Yes, the point here seems to be to make Murkowski the new Manchin. I don't get it, but then I never ever got the Manchin hate.

by Anonymousreply 41June 30, 2025 6:08 PM

Murkowski vote NO! Alaska is a poor state and thousands will suffer under Trump's debacle.

by Anonymousreply 42June 30, 2025 6:13 PM

The fact that her corruption was so blatantly naked on display is disturbing.

by Anonymousreply 43June 30, 2025 6:16 PM

Since when is voting for one's constituents a form of corruption? Was it also a form of corruption for Obama to carve out a "Nebraska exception" to win Ben Nelson's much needed vote for passage of the ACA?

by Anonymousreply 44June 30, 2025 6:22 PM

It's not so much corruption as just lack of principle. She knows the bill is bad, but she's willing to overlook that if her state gets a cut. That's not exactly new in politics.

by Anonymousreply 45June 30, 2025 6:26 PM

She knows this bill will be extremely harmful. But she’s willing to get a car out for her state which is just disgusting. To be so blatantly bought off wow.

by Anonymousreply 46June 30, 2025 6:30 PM

Why so defensive of Murkowski and Manchin, r44?

by Anonymousreply 47June 30, 2025 6:31 PM

R44 that wasn’t going to call severe harm to people. That’s a huge difference and it’s not apples to apples. I cannot believe some people are actually trying to defend Murkowski. She knew this bill would be extremely harmful to her constituents and others. Instead of being against the bill and warning everyone to vote against it, she takes a bribe and caves. and basically says fuck everyone else.

by Anonymousreply 48June 30, 2025 6:32 PM

Because, R47, with so much other fish to fry, I cannot - could not - understand the obsession with attacking the likes of Murkowski & Manchin, the absolute best we're gonna get from their states. And for me, good (enough) is not the enemy of the perfect.

by Anonymousreply 49June 30, 2025 6:40 PM

Manchin, yes. Her? No.

by Anonymousreply 50June 30, 2025 6:42 PM

A certain vocal set of Dataloungers absolutely detests a Zohran Mamdani/AOC type who supports gay rights unequivocally, labeling such leftist politicians as "woke," but a "moderate" Republican gets endless praise and will always be considered beyond reproach. This is true even though such types never stand with us in any meaningful way, courting our worst enemies for support while, at best, ignoring us. Really says a lot.

by Anonymousreply 51June 30, 2025 6:47 PM

An Alaskan senator who voted to convict Trump? And who occasionally votes against Trump? Would you rather the likes of Sarah Palin hold her seat?

by Anonymousreply 52June 30, 2025 6:54 PM

You can acknowledge that someone holds a position without glazing the fuck out of that person, R52. I'm glad someone worse isn't in her spot but I'm not reading her fucking book nor do I care what's in it.

Such a stupid either/or.

by Anonymousreply 53June 30, 2025 6:56 PM

I'm not the OP, R53. I don't go out of my way to sing her praises, but I'm at a loss to understand those who find it necessary to attack her - & Manchin, before her - when there are so many other more worthwhile people to single out.

by Anonymousreply 54June 30, 2025 7:00 PM

[quote]when there are so many other more worthwhile people to single out.

It isn't either/or, r54.

by Anonymousreply 55June 30, 2025 7:08 PM

I guess our outrage meters are different, R55.

by Anonymousreply 56June 30, 2025 7:11 PM

by Anonymousreply 64June 30, 2025 9:21 PM

by Anonymousreply 65June 30, 2025 11:16 PM

by Anonymousreply 68June 30, 2025 11:44 PM

Murkowski will be the last real Republican in the Senate;

Tillis and McConnell are leaving. Collins is most likely not going to seek reelection.

John Cornyn will be primaried out by Ken Paxton.

Lindsay Graham went crazy.

by Anonymousreply 69June 30, 2025 11:50 PM

[quote] Collins is most likely not going to seek reelection.

One would think she'd be more independent of Trump were that the case ... unless she fears for her life.

[quote] Lindsay Graham went crazy.

by Anonymousreply 71July 1, 2025 6:19 AM

This just in! Amy Klobuchar announces that she will be forcing a vote to strike the Republican proposal to offer Alaska special terms re Medicaid and SNAP, and other states with high error rates. She's attempting to nullify the bribe thereby forcing Murkowski to vote with no safety net. Just threw a monkey wrench into the whole scheme! 😂

by Anonymousreply 72July 1, 2025 11:24 AM

She catches all the flak, while the other AK Senator--whoever he is--gets a free pass.

(Actually it's Dan Sullivan, who gets to vote with Trump 92% of the time without any of the shit she gets).

by Anonymousreply 73July 1, 2025 1:31 PM

MURKOWSKI PROVISION OUT: from multiple sources, I am told the parliamentarian ruled against the latest version of the Medicaid fix for Alaska, in past hour or so.

Stay tuned.

by Anonymousreply 74July 1, 2025 3:34 PM

r73, well he's a turd but she's clearly in it for clicks at this point. they both need to be primaries and put out to pasture

by Anonymousreply 75July 1, 2025 3:36 PM

She's never been much of a moderate. No one in the GOP really qualifies.

by Anonymousreply 76July 1, 2025 3:37 PM

R75 doesn’t have a clue about Alaska politics

by Anonymousreply 77July 1, 2025 3:41 PM

Murkowski between a rock and a hard place now. She secured her state's continuance of benefits by agreeing to vote for the bill. Hopefully, that's off the table now via Klobuchar.

What will she do now?

by Anonymousreply 78July 1, 2025 3:52 PM

So Murkowski allowed Susan Collins to be the third nay vote. Almost certainly Collins would have been a yes if her vote had mattered.

by Anonymousreply 79July 1, 2025 4:06 PM

She folded and is the 50th vote to proceed and to approve. Vance breaks the tie…and it all goes back to the House for a final vote. Tillis, Paul and Susie Concerned were the three no votes

by Anonymousreply 80July 1, 2025 4:07 PM

Shaky Sue is running again in 2026. She needed to vote no so she can maintain her "moderate" status.

Please send her to the unemployment line. Maine.

Homegirl is serious about holding onto that yearly $174k in congressional pay (with perks and bens)

by Anonymousreply 82July 1, 2025 4:11 PM

Hard to believe Collins will lose reelection. She won, bigly, despite universally bad polls, with Trump, losing Maine, at the top of the ballot.

by Anonymousreply 83July 1, 2025 4:12 PM

Collins is the only Republican to represent New England

by Anonymousreply 84July 1, 2025 4:13 PM

“We do not have a perfect bill by any stretch of the imagination,” Murkowski told reporters after she voted for it. “My hope is that House is going to look at this and recognize that we’re not there yet.”

In a separate interview, Murkowski explicitly said, “Do I like this bill? No."

Asked why she voted for a bill that she believes needs to be improved before passage, the senator added that she simply hoped to keep the process moving. “Kill it and it’s gone,” Murkowski concluded.

If Murkowski doesn't like the bill, she had the opportunity to vote against it. She could have gathered some senators together to craft something more palatable. She didn't do it. She acts as if she were helpless.

She a fucking hypocrite. Her faux outrage is bullshit after being accused that she caved for the carveouts she received for Alaska. Yes, you're supposed to fight for your constituents, but the bill is junk and gravely hurts millions of other people in 49 other states. Murkowski even admits it. She wants the House to vote it down. She had the chance and didn't do it. How can she possible expect Speaker Mike Johnson or one of the House members to vote against the Senate's version of the bill. Johnson wants to pass it. She gave up and caved when she had the chance--but she gave it away. This July 4 deadline to pass the bill is artificial. There would have been nothing preventing Murkowski from building consensus among her colleagues and taking more time to do the right thing.

Murkowski is a coward. Susan Collins even voted no. Both Alaska and Maine are poor states with more than a million people who need help. Murkowski ought to hang her head in shame. She's a slimy Repig even if she's not full-on MAGA. In this case and for this bill, there is no difference.

by Anonymousreply 100July 1, 2025 9:11 PM

While the rage at the moment is deservedly aimed at Murkowski, let's not forget that 49 other Repig senators could have done the right thing and voted no and killed this abomination of a bill--and they didn't.

They are all scum.

How about blaming our fellow Americans who voted to put Republicans in charge of the presidency, the Senate & the House?

by Anonymousreply 104July 1, 2025 9:33 PM

R104. Of course, blame the fucking stupid Americans because they don't like brown people and their bags of Doritos are too high...

However, members of Congress are supposed to be smarter and rise to the occasion to help the country--not kill healthcare for millions and add $4 trillion to the nation's debt to give permanent tax cut to billionaires. So yes, blame stupid bigoted Americans, but keep in mind, Trump only won by one-and-a-half percentage points. Half the country did not vote for Trump--and they deserve some credit for fighting against it. Yes, blame Americans, but regarding this bill, the primary fault lies with the members of Congress who advanced the bill. The bill is extremely unpopular even among those who voted for Trump--those who never would have advanced this bill. They didn't want it. The Repig members of Congress are to blame at this point in time.

by Anonymousreply 105July 1, 2025 9:46 PM

[quote] Trump only won by one-and-a-half percentage points.

As you know, we don't elect presidents by popular vote (although a republican winning the popular vote is a rare accomplishment in the last 30+ years). Trump won the electoral vote by a healthy margin, just as Biden had four years earlier.

[quote] The bill is extremely unpopular even among those who voted for Trump

I don't trust polls about omnibus bills. And I suspect many uniformed Americans, who invariably confuse Medicare & Medicaid, believe it is Medicare, not Medicaid, that is on the chopping block.

by Anonymousreply 114July 1, 2025 10:59 PM

Rich republicans vote according to their bank accounts. Poor republicans vote according to their hate. Christian republicans vote according to their exploited beliefs. Somehow, the party of the rich also became the party of patriotism - thank Bush/911 for that. But it's all complete bullshit. The only one of the three which should be voting republican is the rich. One of the saddest sights I ever saw was a derelict and decaying small residential trailer with a junk car on the lawn displaying a Bush election sign. Hey! Unfortunately, we have to hand it to the republicans - they ARE evil geniuses. The republican party has always been for the rich, and it always will be. It is the equivalent of the British House of Lords, and half of our Mr and Mrs Average Americans are truly monumental fuck-ups being irreversible dumb-asses.

by Anonymousreply 115July 1, 2025 11:01 PM

The reason non-rich vote for Republicans is that they imagine themselves being rich some day as well. And still being a-holes they have no problem with the ethics of joining that team. Only problem is, they never get that winning lottery ticket. Then they turn their hate outside the cult to others like Democrats, Liberals, people with brown skin, anything but where the problem really is.

Only to the uninitiated. This bill was too big to fail & leadership could only afford to lose three votes. It was between Collins & Murkowski who would be the third & final holdout. Collins was given the pass because she, arguably, has a tough reelection next year. That's how the congressional game is played.

[quote] Why do FAKE moderates always get a pass on this?

Because fake moderates on the [R] side of the aisle can always rely on the so-called moderates on the [D] side to rim them deeply, while excusing all of their bullshit votes.

[quote]Trump only won by one-and-a-half percentage points.

[quote]As you know, we don't elect presidents by popular vote (although a republican winning the popular vote is a rare accomplishment in the last 30+ years). Trump won the electoral vote by a healthy margin, just as Biden had four years earlier.

R106. I'm well aware of the Electoral College. That pertains to the presidential election. However, the reason I mentioned that Trump only won by one-and-a-half percent points is because regarding this bill, we are not discussing a presidential election, we are discussing a specific bill (or a specific issue if you'd prefer to call it that) and this issue finds Trump and his bill 26 points underwater. So in order for the disapproval to be this overwhelming, even Trump supporters including many in red states are not in favor of this bill. Congress is ramming this bill forward because they are afraid of Trump so that he can give tax cuts to billionaires. Congress is not voting for this bill to serve its constituents since most of the country doesn't want it regardless of the Electoral College.

Those red state voters voted for Trump because they don't want brown people living here and because eggs were too high. They did not vote to lose their health coverage.

While I agree, I'm also under no illusion that - notwithstanding the apparent lack of poll support for the bill - a 2025 rematch between Trump & Harris would lead to a different result.

Debt and deficits only matter when Democrats are in power. If this passes, it'll be another $3 trillion+ on the credit card.

I don't want to hear any Republican complaining about the national debt ever again.

by Anonymousreply 133July 2, 2025 1:21 AM

Republicans have put most of the debt on the national credit card.

by Anonymousreply 134July 2, 2025 1:32 AM

The US is now entirely bankrupt because of this bill she signed.

by Anonymousreply 135July 2, 2025 1:45 AM

R135, but Lisa found it agonizing! Doesnt that make you feel better?

by Anonymousreply 136July 2, 2025 2:09 AM

She's at home...cackling.

by Anonymousreply 137July 2, 2025 2:34 AM

by Anonymousreply 138July 2, 2025 2:39 AM

CUNT-not moderate republican, Maga Rethug CUNT

by Anonymousreply 139July 2, 2025 2:39 AM

R129 very true about Collins, but I am surprised McConnell or someone not running in 2026 didn't vote for it.

by Anonymousreply 140July 2, 2025 2:45 AM

R140 are you kidding? The pain and suffering he’ll see will likely ensure that that tortoise lives another 150 years.

by Anonymousreply 141July 2, 2025 2:49 AM

What a cunt, I just saw her being asked about her carve out just for her state and she acted so insulted by the question she stared down the reporter for a good 20 seconds without saying a word like "how dare you". The guy had to say it was not his question, it was a comment from another senator.

Her fake theatrics are really Karen level volume up to 11. Bitch if you dont like the bill, no one forced you to vote for it.

Here's that moment with the interviewer R142 is referring to:

I'll say one thing; presently, this straw haired stressed out witch looks nothing like the pic shown at OP.

by Anonymousreply 144July 2, 2025 10:42 AM

She looks like the fucking crypt keeper in a wig.

by Anonymousreply 145July 2, 2025 11:52 AM

Fucking MAGA cunt

by Anonymousreply 146July 2, 2025 11:53 AM

I'm reminded of hostage videos when I see her interviewed. I want her to be asked to blink twice if she's in real fear for her family and herself from the MAGA mob.

[quote]One of the saddest sights I ever saw was a derelict and decaying small residential trailer with a junk car on the lawn displaying a Bush election sign.

You must have cruised through my neighborhood back in the day. Substitute "Trump" for "Bush" and you have my neighborhood now.

by Anonymousreply 148July 2, 2025 2:58 PM

That video of Murkowski staring down that reporter is something else. She has the nerve to get annoyed. Bitch, you just voted for one of the most destructive bills and one of the most unpopular bills ever. You will be answering for your vote for the rest of your corrupt life. She is no longer in the “normie” Republican category. She’s your average shitty Republican.

R148 I live in TX and don’t see hardly any T stickers or flags like in ‘16.

by Anonymousreply 149July 2, 2025 3:35 PM

I want to be adored and beloved by the media and my colleagues just like my dear friend Lindsey receives.

“The word in the Capitol was that Murkowski had planned to vote against the bill if she was not the decisive vote; but would vote yes if she was. As you attempt to parse that political logic, note that a profile in courage it is not.”

“And so ends Murkowski’s brief stint cosplaying as a Woman of Principle. And I would argue that makes her even worse than other collaborators and toadies.”

“She pretended to be better; and might have been. But it was all bullshit.”

The political courage idealized by JFK never contemplated the courage required in the Trump era.

by Anonymousreply 152July 2, 2025 5:21 PM

She is up for reelection in 2028, which is an eternity in politics. I doubt anyone will remember this by then and she will win reelection.

by Anonymousreply 153July 2, 2025 5:45 PM

A reminder of her '22 race.

[quote] Incumbent Republican senator Lisa Murkowski won reelection to a fourth full term, defeating fellow Republican Kelly Tshibaka and Democrat Patricia Chesbro.

[quote] This was the first U.S. Senate election in Alaska to be held under a new election process provided for in Ballot Measure 2. All candidates ran in a nonpartisan blanket top-four primary on August 16, 2022, and the top four candidates advanced to the general election, where voters utilized ranked-choice voting.

[quote] Murkowski had been a vocal critic of Donald Trump during his presidency and opposed several of his initiatives. Murkowski was one of seven Republican senators who voted to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial in 2021, and was the only one up for re-election in 2022. On March 16, 2021, the Alaska Republican Party voted to censure Murkowski and announced that it would recruit a Republican challenger in the 2022 election cycle. Kelly Tshibaka, a former commissioner of the Alaska Department of Administration, was endorsed by Trump and the Alaska Republican Party. Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell and the National Republican Senatorial Committee supported Murkowski.

Stupid ugly whore

by Anonymousreply 161July 2, 2025 11:23 PM

Coward Josh Hawley is no better.

He railed against the brutal Medicaid cuts all to give tax breaks to billionaires. He went on TV and said how horrible and unfair the bill is. Then he went ahead and voted for the bill.

These pieces of shit think if they just keep on repeating that they hate the bill, then it somehow absolves them when they kiss Trump's ass and vote for it in the end.

by Anonymousreply 162July 2, 2025 11:54 PM

They all have deep pockets!

by Anonymousreply 163July 2, 2025 11:58 PM

In Hawley’s case, Missouri voters enshrined Medicaid expansion into their constitution so the state will have to make cuts elsewhere and/or raise taxes to pay for Medicaid benefits.

by Anonymousreply 164July 3, 2025 12:01 AM

She's getting slammed all over social media. This is what happens when you try to play the “understanding” card and then turn your back on your constituents.

by Anonymousreply 165July 3, 2025 3:13 AM

Her constituents are not DLers.

by Anonymousreply 166July 3, 2025 3:21 AM

Who are her consituents, R166?

Please describe them in detail.

by Anonymousreply 167July 3, 2025 4:32 AM

^^They're poor and will suffer.

I believe in DL parlance it would be fuck 'em.
