Mamdani ahead of Cuomo in ranked choice voting: NYC mayoral poll

NEW YORK (PIX11) — The final major independent poll before Primary Day in New York City shows Queens Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani passing former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the last round of a ranked-choice voting simulation.

The survey of Democratic mayoral primary of early voters and likely voters from PIX11 News, Emerson College, and The Hill shows Mamdani winning in the final round, 52%, to Cuomo’s 48%.

After all the polls in 2024, I don’t believe anything anymore.

by Anonymousreply 1June 23, 2025 2:14 PM

We'll see, RCV can lead to many surprises.

by Anonymousreply 2June 23, 2025 2:22 PM

It looks like NYC is about to make another mistake. Oh well.

by Anonymousreply 3June 23, 2025 2:24 PM

Or the unthinkable could happen: Mamdani wins the primary and loses the election.

by Anonymousreply 4June 23, 2025 2:40 PM

I thought that was a given if he wins the primary, r4.

by Anonymousreply 5June 23, 2025 2:43 PM

Great! Because all violent criminals need is a fuzzy haired social worker to let them vent.

by Anonymousreply 6June 23, 2025 2:43 PM

I didn't vote for him in the primary and I'm not going to vote for him if he is a mayoral candidate.

by Anonymousreply 7June 23, 2025 2:44 PM

I would never stop laughing if this whole situation ends in New York City having a Republican mayor

by Anonymousreply 8June 23, 2025 2:46 PM

With possible terror attacks always looming, I’d pick a mayor who has the connections and knowledge to react if a disaster struck, not some pipe dreamer promising the world without reality on his side.

by Anonymousreply 9June 23, 2025 2:51 PM

I think both Stringer and Lander would make great Mayors, but I'd take Mamdani over Cuomo any day.

The last thing this city needs is a liberal mayor. We need a mayor that is pro law enforcement and hard on crime.

by Anonymousreply 11June 23, 2025 5:06 PM

R1 - The polls were accurate in 2024.

The actual result was well within the fat part of the curve of probabilities.

by Anonymousreply 12June 23, 2025 5:08 PM

ABC. Anybody But Cuomo

by Anonymousreply 13June 23, 2025 5:35 PM

What a dismal choice. Sexual harasser or antisemite...take your pick!

You may want to say that louder for the people in the back. Make NYC 24 Hours Again!

by Anonymousreply 15June 23, 2025 5:39 PM

Mamdani is younger and better-looking. Neener neener.

by Anonymousreply 16June 23, 2025 5:44 PM

YAY SOCIALISM!

by Anonymousreply 17June 23, 2025 5:46 PM

Obviously youth and good looks are needed win elections in the United States.

by Anonymousreply 18June 23, 2025 5:47 PM

How strange that Kirsten Gillibrand hasn't endorsed Mamdani to stop serial groper and harasser Cuomo, after the strong stance she took on Al Franken. Anyone heard from her?

The cross tabs are interesting. Mamdani is beating Cuomo by two to one among voters under 50.

While I realize that is the "youth vote" on this website, I think it speaks to how unaffordable the city has been become for anyone not rich and who hadn't locked into real estate twenty years ago.

by Anonymousreply 22June 23, 2025 6:11 PM

Why do they have rank voting?

by Anonymousreply 23June 23, 2025 6:32 PM

Does Mamdani have a hairy ass?

by Anonymousreply 24June 23, 2025 6:32 PM

So disappointed in DL. Took 23 posts before someone started asking the important questions.

NYC needs a strong arm mayor or a republican mayor. Otherwise the city is out of control. Giuliani was an egotistical maniac and that’s what you need running NYC - a crazy person. The leader has to be larger than life or they’ll get no respect, have zero power. Cuomo is perfect.
