Bill Clinton endorses former top aide Andrew Cuomo for NYC mayor
Ex-President Bill Clinton on Sunday endorsed his former Housing secretary, Andrew Cuomo, in the Big Apple’s mayoral primary, describing the city as in “crisis’’ and his pal as a “competent leader.”
In a robocall released by Cuomo’s campaign, the Democratic former commander in chief urged New Yorkers to back the ex-governor in the Tuesday’s Dem showdown.
“The election will decide the next mayor of New York, and I urge you to vote for Andrew Cuomo,” Clinton said in the recorded message. “As president, I chose Andrew to be my secretary of Housing and Urban Development, and he never let me down.”

Cuomo thanked Clinton in a news release, calling Clinton a “personal mentor, friend and hero.”
“His administration was one of the most accomplished in modern political history — and that’s what government is supposed to be all about,” Cuomo said in a news release. “He never ran from a challenge and in fact ran towards them. Together we built housing, battled homelessness and fought for justice for communities too often left out and left behind. His belief that change was not only possible but is the foundational work of government inspires me in every action I take.”

Cuomo is leading in the polls, according to a poll released Wednesday.
Zohran Mamdani, a member of the New York State Assembly and democratic socialist, is second in the polls. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) both endorsed Mamdani earlier this month. Mamdani and fellow candidate Brad Lander cross-endorsed each other, telling their supporters to rank the other candidate second in an effort to defeat Cuomo.

Does anyone even care any more about Bill Clinton? He's like a ghost at this point. They hardly remember Obama. It's been 10 long years of MAGA.

He's gonna make a decent mayor. The progs have only themselves to blame for yet another loss, couldn't keep their messaging on the working class and affordable living if you paid them. Constantly reaching into that culture war cookie jar like fucking addicts.

Whether you think they're realistic or in any way practical, Mamdani's proposals were all about affordability: rent, transit, daycare.

Mamdani can’t deliver on any of his promises. Maybe spending millions to support trans people but that’s probably it.

Mamdani is a snake oil salesman... or a snake charmer... either way, I am not interested in seeing NYC go down that drain.

Mamdani is just your typical DSA delusional leftist with an admittedly very effective media campaign. If he wins, his supporters will take it as a sign that people all across America want DSA types for office. If he loses, the "establishment" will be blamed.

I'm voting for Cuomo and I can't stand him but the last two mayors were incompetent assholes. We need someone like Cuomo to clean up the mess. Mamdani reminds me too much of Adams when he was running.

Bill Clinton's endorsement of any one or any thing isn't worth jack shit.
Bill Clinton's ringing endorsement of NAFTA, knowing full well it would drain the life out of what was left of American manufacturing, is why we have Trump and MAGAts today.

It's funny that Bill Clinton endorsed Cuomo the same day that the woman he sexually harrassed did an event for Brad Lander.
Why you all - and why the Democratic party in general - want so badly to elect a mean, angry, corrupt, incompetent groper is beyond me.
Oh! And he's old too!

Mamdani will start with a 65 million $ program to help trans folk. Then he’ll demonstrate in a pro Palestinian rally. Then he’ll get around to free buses (we already have that as not paying isn’t a crime) and then a rent freeze. Most poor people already live in rent stabilized apartments where rents are regulated. Any new rent freeze would affect rich kids subsidized by their parents. I think that’s his biggest constituency.

honestly I fear Dump will control Quomo with threats of prosecution if Cuomo wins. I have a feeling Mamdami will really turn out voters and as this is a ranked election, I have a hunch he really might win.
Every Democrat I know from the most centrist, to the most left leaning.. expresses the same desire for fighters and not establishment candidates.
