He died a few days ago but he was a damn good character actor and deserves a tip of the hat for a job well done.

Yes r1. I have no knowledge of his personal life but he was good at playing cracker types.
I suspect as a working actor he was more evolved than the characters he played.

I remember him from Hee Haw, and as a kid thinking it sounded like gibberish when the announcer said his name during the credits. Pretty sure this is the first time I've ever seen his name in print my whole life.
Every time I see him in Fried Green Tomatoes I think, "Isn't that the guy from Hee Haw?" And then by the time the movie is over, I forget to look it up.
Rest easy, Mr. Hee Haw guy.
