Deborra was a more established actor when the two met. He was just out of drama school. I am sure she saw the potential in his future and the lack thereof in hers. She was a pretty enough blond actress. They probably struck a deal to cover for him and work on making him famous. Therefore, she is not a gold digger, nor was she fat and unattractive when they met.

I don’t think Hugh cheated on her. I think they had lived apart for years and he wanted to trade her in for a new younger model that fit his Hollywood profile and who could play the celebrity bearding game - and whom he could help with her career.

He underestimated Deborra’s pain over being stabbed in the back.

Maybe that was one of the final sticking points she wouldn't budge on, R32. One side doesn't just dictate that the other side do what they want, it's a negotiation. Maybe she offered to give up part of her demands to reach settlement in lieu of having to sign an NDA because she valued the freedom to speak her mind over whatever else she was demanding, and Jackman's side agreed to it. No one gets everything they want in a divorce settlement, both sides have to compromise to reach a settlement.

I agree that a non-disclosure agreement would unquestionably have to be a part of whatever deal has been struck. The argument made by someone above, that Jackman and his people might have agreed to forego the non-disclosure in return for Furness getting less in monetary/property value from Hugh, sounds incredible to me.

Even if there is an NDA, that doesn't prevent Deborra's "friends" or "sources" spilling the beans.
