Fight between employees ends in gunfire at Walmart
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - An argument between two Walmart employees ended in gunfire Thursday afternoon, according to the Bartlett Police Department (BPD).
BPD said two employees got into a fight at the store at 8400 Highway 64. A FOX13 employee who was inside the store with her family at the time of the shooting said she heard four or five gunshots come from the back of the store.
Police said those bullets struck a Walmart employee. That person suffered critical injuries, and first responders rushed that employee to a nearby hospital, BPD said.
The FOX13 employee inside the store at the time of the shooting said they saw people running through the store after the gunfire. Someone yelled, "They're shooting." Walmart security evacuated the store prior to officers' arrival. Bartlett Police showed up soon after and ran into the Walmart. They came out escorting a man wearing a Walmart vest. BPD said they arrested one person without incident. That arrest happened about 20 minutes after the initial gunfire.
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, Bartlett Police said the scene is secure and that there are no ongoing threats to the public or Walmart employees.

I guess that’s one way to let a new employee know that they didn’t pass their probation period.

There's a WalMart about three miles from my home. It's located in a seedy part of town, which I need to drive through to get to /from work. The last time I was in there was before COVID. Today, I was short on time and had to pick up a few grocery items so I stopped in on my way home instead of driving further to my usual market.
Pros - the prices are much lower on the six or seven items I needed than any 'discount market' around the city. Cereal, milk, eggs, mayo, English muffins, etc. - cheaper than anywhere else. And the selection of groceries has greatly improved since last I was there. Also, the staff members were actually working the floor - I was approached twice to see if I needed help with anything. (One was this hot Latino muscled guy, who actually laughed when I responded, "I don't think you can give me the help I would like from you." ) And that's a separate pro in itself: all the guys there were handsome, built dark-skinned dudes, just as I like them. Beautiful smiles on all of them.
Cons - the store is one disorganized zoo. Merchandise tossed everywhere, I don't blame the employees, though. I blame the trashy clientele this store attracts - I saw them in action making a mess of everything and walking away. And that's the biggest con - the customers it attracts. Just white trash and hood rats.
A separate con - they already had Halloween candy in the aisles. And they were setting up 'back to school' displays (back packs, dorm furnishings, etc.) when school gets out next week.

Gunfire or HR? In most companies, the choice is clear.

And the Halloween candy is already from last year.

The Walmart that is closest to me is a shithole. Trashy customers, rude workers, messy store. The very few times a year I need a Walmart, I drive an extra 15-20 minutes to the ritzy suburb area. I’d never want to live out there, but the stores are nice. They have a lot of frozen vegetarian items, and a truffle butter I love. Household items are also much cheaper there.
Same with Sam’s Club. The one out there in the ‘burbs is much nicer than the inner city one closer to me. I kind of hate Sam’s though.

This is the most Walmart thing ever. All that missing is a fight in the aisle and someone's clothes being torn off

R5 That's what I thought when I walked down the aisle. If I were buying the candy from there, I wouldn't look too close at the expiration date on the package (I'm sure it expired months ago). But then again, they know their clientele isn't looking at expiry dates on anything.
R7 I betcha the customers in there didn't have enough clothes on them to be ripped off.
When I strolled through my store yesterday, I never saw more rolls and rolls of flesh with tattoos on them, more barefeet, more toothless smiles in my life. No one cares what they look like when they go out in public anymore.

Thanks for the tip.

You can get the same low prices and not have to deal with the annoying other shoppers and messy store -- order online for curbside pickup. Fast and free, and you might get a hunky guy loading the purchases into your car.

And Walmart delivers right to your doorstep, R10. However, in my area, it's mostly elderly Asians driving for Walmart/Doordash, although I did get a hot ginger a couple weeks ago but he did not want to come in ;(

R10 confuses Walmart with UPS, methinks.

R2 halloween before back to school?

R15 That's what I said when I saw the shelves filled with orange bags with pumpkin and witch graphics on it. I guess they figure they have a better chance of selling it out on the floor, rather than stocked in boxes on the back shelves. Same with the 'back to school' shit - school hasn't finished yet.
