In America a week. In Europe 2-3 days.

I would downscale one end of that: In Europe, 1-2 days. There's a bakery every block or two in much of Europe, and different types of bakeries (principally sweets, just breads, baked-on-premises, and speciality breads being the main divisions). You buy bread every day and expect to use --depending on type-- within one day or sometimes two. And a simple bread of baguette size is usually about €0.60. Something considerably larger and much fancier might cost as much as €2.00, but that's not an everyday bread for most people.
American bread, on the other hand, lasts forever, but it all tastes about the same, which is to say tasteless.

I never buy supermarket bread. Thank God for the Italian bakery and butcher and the bagel store near me. After two days, if there's any still left, I'll throw it in a soup.

Yes indeed, we too use "cookies." Take a look at our privacy/terms or if you just want to see the damn site without all this bureaucratic nonsense, click ACCEPT. Otherwise, you'll just have to find some other site for your pointless bitchery needs.
