RFK Says Alcohol is Good For You

U.S. Dietary Guidelines are expected to eliminate the long-standing recommendation that adults limit alcohol consumption to one or two drinks per day, in what could be a major win for an industry threatened by heightened scrutiny of alcohol’s health effects.

Next up: Cigarette smoking clears teenagers' complexions and improves lung function for adults.

^^Music to many DLer's ears!

by Anonymousreply 1June 18, 2025 1:39 PM

The Trump administration seems to be taking its policies straight from Onion headlines.

by Anonymousreply 2June 18, 2025 1:42 PM

Actually, heroin is better but alcohol makes a good gateway to harder substances. It’s a good start.

by Anonymousreply 3June 18, 2025 1:42 PM

To be fair, does anyone really consult the US Dietary Guidelines before they go on a bender?

by Anonymousreply 4June 18, 2025 1:43 PM

Nobody should pay attention to anything coming out of this assholes' mouth.

RFK Jr is the product of a family with huge drug and alcohol issues.

He's living proof Ethel drank heavily during her pregnancy.

by Anonymousreply 5June 18, 2025 1:58 PM

Can this guy just turn blue already and die of food poisoning?

by Anonymousreply 6June 18, 2025 2:01 PM

The evil ones live forever (seems like)

by Anonymousreply 7June 18, 2025 2:04 PM

[quote] He's living proof Ethel drank heavily during her pregnancy.

I pick my nose.

by Anonymousreply 8June 18, 2025 2:05 PM

It's unbelievable what they prioritize. The world is on fire, democracy is dead, Trump has his finger hovering over the red button as we speak, so DRINK UP EVERYBODY!!

They are literally trying to destroy the country through all available means. Fiscally, militarily, judicially, and by killing everyone off via disease or drunkenness.

by Anonymousreply 14June 18, 2025 2:36 PM

"Heroin is a biofriendly health food"... Bobby junkies are us Kennedy Jr.

by Anonymousreply 15June 18, 2025 2:42 PM

Interestingly, in the Making America Healthy Again document, smoking isn’t mentioned at all.

Hmmmmmm…

by Anonymousreply 16June 18, 2025 2:45 PM

Alcohol is the only way I will get through these four years.

by Anonymousreply 17June 18, 2025 2:49 PM

That old battleaxe mother of his lived well into her 90s , and she loved her booze.

by Anonymousreply 18June 18, 2025 2:53 PM

I’ll drink to that!

by Anonymousreply 19June 18, 2025 3:52 PM

Just in time for WWIII to breakout. Thanks, RFK! I'm taking your direction on this one.

by Anonymousreply 20June 18, 2025 4:09 PM

Pete Hegseth and Jeanine Pirro approve this message

by Anonymousreply 21June 18, 2025 5:18 PM

Isn't Trump anti alcohol?

by Anonymousreply 22June 18, 2025 5:21 PM

Depends on how much you pay him, r22.

by Anonymousreply 23June 18, 2025 5:22 PM

MADA

Make America Drunk Again!

by Anonymousreply 24June 18, 2025 5:30 PM

He never bothered to ask me about alcohol.

by Anonymousreply 25June 18, 2025 6:10 PM

Next up, RFK Jr. launches a Department of Health-EPA ad campaign to promote the sharing of heroin needles. Recycling is good for the environment!

by Anonymousreply 26June 18, 2025 6:24 PM

Considering AIDS comes from a bad lifestyle, not a virus, share needles!

by Anonymousreply 27June 18, 2025 6:25 PM

Two drinks a day is already quite a bit.

by Anonymousreply 28June 18, 2025 6:51 PM

[quote] Isn't Trump anti alcohol?

Like me - in this respect only - Trump is a teetotaler.

by Anonymousreply 29June 18, 2025 7:15 PM

[quote]Can this guy just turn blue already

Love you, R6!

by Anonymousreply 30June 18, 2025 7:34 PM

Thatsh shenshashional!!

by Anonymousreply 31June 18, 2025 9:09 PM

This fucking nut is going to get people sick, hurt or killed. Unfortunately, sounds like the plan along...

by Anonymousreply 32June 18, 2025 9:13 PM

[quote]Isn't Trump anti alcohol?

Trump honestly doesn't care what's happening around him in the government

by Anonymousreply 33June 19, 2025 12:36 AM

Whats next heroin?

by Anonymousreply 34June 19, 2025 2:08 PM

R34 Don't knock it! It got to me where I am today!

by Anonymousreply 35June 19, 2025 2:10 PM

Like people on DL will drink any more or any less. The time to be worried is if RFK announces a new Office of Homosexual Health and Risk Reduction ( OHHRR)

Then it’s time to seriously consider Panama

by Anonymousreply 36June 19, 2025 2:24 PM

Apparently, he thinks baking in the tanning beds is healthy, too

As usual, OP is click baiting. And linking to AOL.

[quote] Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a known teetotaler, has remained largely silent on alcohol but has emphasised a focus on whole foods in the upcoming guidelines.

Did you even read the 'article'?

by Anonymousreply 38June 19, 2025 4:56 PM

^ RFK Jr

by Anonymousreply 39June 19, 2025 5:09 PM

The link is AOL for some reason but it’s a reprint of a Bloomberg wire story.

by Anonymousreply 40June 19, 2025 6:06 PM

The link is AOL because the other sites OP tried linking to (including Reuters) were not accepted by Muriel.

by Anonymousreply 41June 19, 2025 7:46 PM

It's a good thing

by Anonymousreply 42June 19, 2025 10:26 PM

AGAIN

RFK never said alcohol is good for you

No fan of him but providing fodder for the right is not doing us any good.

by Anonymousreply 43June 19, 2025 10:29 PM

What R4 said. It’s not like bars and nightclubs staple the guidelines to the walls to bring awareness.

by Anonymousreply 44June 19, 2025 10:37 PM

It’s not finalized and what’s under consideration doesn’t say alcohol is good for you, it just doesn’t specify a safe level of consumption.

The comments here aren’t reflecting what’s in the article. I’m not defending the idea, though. I think removing the specific guidelines would be a huge mistake and would hurt people’s health. When you have a bad habit it’s very easy to kid yourself about it but if you are clearly told any more than two drinks a day is bad it’s to pretend that a bottle of wine every weeknight and a real party on the weekends is within the reasonable range.

by Anonymousreply 45June 19, 2025 10:50 PM

Finally making some god damn sense for a change!

by Anonymousreply 46June 19, 2025 10:52 PM

It's about damn TIME.
