Someone should tell Trump that the Shah is living in seclusion in Paris and is willing to take over the reins of government once they get rid of the fucking religious fanatics. Bet he'd tweet it.

by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 18, 2025 1:22 AM |
Now? Well of course, he'd look simply ghastly now! The Shah has been dead since 1980. He was very Handsome in a distinguished was even as he aged. But here's a picture of his son, Reza who is now 64 years old and giving talks to Conservative Organizations in Washington, D.C. Hope springs eternal !

by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 18, 2025 1:39 AM |
I met him back in the day, the early aughts and he just oozed handsomeness. In any case he's a patriot and just wants the best for Iran. He has no illusions of being back on the Peacock throne.

I worked with a lady who's husband was a helicopter pilot (one of many) for a member of the Shah's family. She hated living there and was rather glad they had to leave. Usually I dont believe peoples stories but she had some gorgeous things given to them by the guy her husband worked for. A huge silver service ,several stunning rugs and paintings and some jewelry . Top quality items. She showed me a bunch of pictures of the huge old house they rented and she had like 3 servants to boot. She told me there was ample notice to get the fuck out of dodge but a lot of the wealthy just didnt think they'd win. Imagine THEIR surprise !

The Pavlavis raped Iran for all it was worth--shoveling money into Swiss bank accounts. The original Shah also had his guard who roughed up and disappeared the opposition.
The Shah's horrid rule is the reason there was a revolution and the religious right took power.

[quote]Iran was actually the most progressive Muslim state in the middle east region until 1979.
It functioned on American money after the CIA overthrew its elected leader because it felt he was too close to the USSR. America pushed the progressive stuff. But, the cruelty of the Shah pushed the people to back right wingers and Iran went backwards socially.

Oh oh, looks like the upcoming Juan Guaido Shah of Iran is actually going to be...
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 18, 2025 4:40 AM |
Exactly, R34. I think the assassination of Mossadegh was another one of the Dulles brothers' greatest hits., installing Shah Reza Pahlavi His first wife, Soraya, was a great beauty. They had a lavish lifestyle and courted the wealthy and powerful. Kissinger adored them and Nixon had his lips pressed against the ass crack.. Funny thing. Our own CIA was totally clueless to the fact that for months there were these demonstrations in t he streets of Tehran. The crowds kept growing. For months. And the media printed a photo of this weird looking guy called an Ayatollah with his head all wrapped, and he's standing on a balcony of some apartment in Paris and the caption said that "many" of the demonstrators were his followers. They felt the government of Iran was too secular and too corrupt. They wanted to back to a "purer " form of religious beliefs as Muslims. They wanted a caliphate. A religious state And what started as a small movement born on the campuses of the university, became a full blown movement. Our Intelligence really fucked up big time, and then Kissinger and Nixon had to figure out WTF to do with Reza and his family. So Reza who was dying of cancer was dumped on Jimmy Carter's doorstep, eventually who allowed him to get medical treatment here. Our embassy was t aken over during Carter;s presidency, but Kissinger and Nixon set him up big time.

Carter had been President for two years when the Shah fell. Nixon had been out of office for five years. How was the Shah’s exile to the US Nixon’s fault?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 18, 2025 4:56 AM |
I can’t understand why “The Shah” is a person on whom you guys look back with undiluted pleasure, especially in light of, what amounted to, an ethnic cleaning of the Franistan region that he oversaw. They had been a minority tribe that predated the Persian Empire. And your beloved “shah” had the royal maharincess beheaded in front of a crowd of her horrified countrymen, most of whom soon met the same fate.

Recently had to get my state ID renewed. I looked at the picture and swore I would never look at it again.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 18, 2025 12:32 PM |
The Shah was a cruel ruler, which is why there was a revolution to get rid of him. He enriched himself and his family with Iran’s money. This is a big reason so many Iranians (or Persians) in the US are so wealthy yet, outwardly, seem to have jobs that wouldn’t make anyone rich.
Sadly, people always run back to royalty when governments fail.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 18, 2025 12:36 PM |
Kissinger begged Carter to allow the Shah in. Told Carter it was his duty and the U.S. was obligated. He was carrying a message insisted upon and encouraged by Nixon for whom he served as Secretary of State. Of course Nixon was out of office. But he started the ball rolling and it was his intelligence failure that a revolution was happening before his eyes and it was ignored and minimized by the CIA and The Shah reassured him all was well until it wasn't. The Shah was a horrible person. Vile.

The Crown Prince is not proposing to re-establish the monarchy or to lead the government.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 18, 2025 7:37 PM |
I’ve always felt bad for this family. The Shah was a cruel ruler and died shortly after exile. Regan granted his wife asylum in the US and she divides here time between a garish McMansion in DC and an elegant apartment in Paris. Two of their children have died; one by suicide and one from a drug overdose.
The former Empress still insist on being called Your Majesty and many in the Iranian diaspora pay for extravagant dinners with the former royals. They think that once another revolution takes place the people of Iran will install the Crown Prince as the next Shah. I am highly skeptical this would be the case.

The "Crown Prince" is offering himself as a solution to Iran's problems. He thinks he can make a deal with the Trump people and the United States will back him. I have to wonder if he is a Friend of Putin's. This may well be the end game. Putin, as we know wants to reconstitute the Soviet Union, without communism which he felt was foolish and never really worked. And he needs stability from his clients in the Middle East. So if the puppet Crown Prince is viable it's all gonna work out fine.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | June 19, 2025 1:54 AM |

The shah was a brutal dictator. There's no chance Iranians would reestablish the monarchy if the Islamic regime collapses. This guy lives in Virginia. His mother divides her time between there and Paris.

Generations has passed since his dad was Shah. No one remembers. We elected Trump again only after 4 years
Countries often run back to monarchy when subsequent governments aren’t working out.
