Does she still post here?
I LOVED this show when I was a kid in the 1970's.
My favorite part now is the opening.

R1 I love the horrible special effects and the drama when they wake up and see the dinosaur. "Run! Run!"

I always wondered how someone survives a 1,000-foot plunge over a waterfall.

I remember watching that show to catch a glimpse of the father’s hairy chest. I’d then run to the bathroom and - you know . . .

Wesley Eure who played Will had a brief relationship with Richard Chamberlain.

Holly barely existed to me . I was all for dad and Will ! I also devoutly wished some dinosaur would finally succeed in snapping chakas head off . I hated him .

There's going to be some Sleestak gender-swapped casting, I just know it

The show took a really bizarre, dark turn when it headed off into the Sleestak storylines with the crystals and the time tunnel, etc.
I liked it better when it was just the family foraging for food and riding brontosauruses and trying to keep Cha-Ka from getting kidnapped by his mean family.

R1 and people complain about lousy CGI?!

Title: The Comeback: Cha-Ka
Premise:
Cha-Ka, the strange, squeaky-voiced Pakuni boy from Land of the Lost, has spent the last 40 years trapped in Hollywood limbo. Unlike the other actors, he never played Cha-Ka — he is Cha-Ka. After Land of the Lost was canceled, he was forgotten by the industry, struggling to live undetected in Los Angeles, working odd jobs, and taking pride in folding towels at Equinox.
Now, in the age of reboots and ironic nostalgia, HBO greenlights The Comeback: Cha-Ka, a pseudo-reality show chronicling Cha-Ka’s “triumphant” return to Hollywood. But the industry has changed — and Cha-Ka hasn’t. He doesn’t understand TikTok, he doesn’t speak full English, and he keeps misinterpreting microaggressions as compliments.
He’s assigned a Gen Z showrunner with a savior complex, a publicist who believes he’s a furry, and a dialect coach who wants to “decolonize the Pakuni narrative.” As the cameras roll, Cha-Ka tries desperately to reclaim his dignity in a world that only values him as a meme.
Main Characters
• Cha-Ka (played by himself): Earnest, emotionally wounded, with deep eyes and a tragic gait. He’s trying to make it, not understanding he’s being exploited — again. Constantly mutters Pakuni phrases under his breath like a trauma response.
• Harlow Yin: His hyperactive Gen Z producer who insists she “saw Cha-Ka on a DMT trip” and believes reviving him is an act of spiritual reparations.
• Marty Brillstein: A sleazy, aging agent who sees dollar signs in the viral “Return of the Real Cha-Ka” campaign. Wears Bluetooth earpieces and refers to himself in the third person.
• Elias (played by Jacob Elordi): A melancholic YouTuber-turned-actor playing Cha-Ka in the upcoming Land of the Lost reboot. He befriends the real Cha-Ka in a confusing, eroticized mentorship role.
• Lisa Kudrow (as herself): Playing a fictionalized, bitter version of herself who tries to warn Cha-Ka about the soul-sucking nature of “the comeback.” Constantly mutters, “I told HBO not to do another one.”

Sleestak was given as an example of an invented language in my college linguistics class.

R15 It's hard to believe Spencer Milligan was only 37 when he did that show.
People looked so much older back then.

Spencer Mulligan left the show after a fight with the producers over his right to retain royalties…from sales of lunchboxes!
Ahh, the 70s. Simpler times.

R20 Hey, that merch sold millions! The cast members should've gotten a chunk of those sales.

Ii was eleven when this show started so I guess I was too old for it. I was a huge Dino nerd but the show just looked too babyish for me.

Fucking ingrate. I had that choice part locked down until that furry little snake pulled an All About Eve and snatched it out from under my sneakers, and all I got was “Sid and Marty Krofft have decided to go younger.” Bryan Singers abound in this wretched viper pit we call Hollywood.

Sleestaks are so fucking cool. I'm sure they'd get a ton of shit hanging around in our downtowns but I feel like they have a good heart and if they worked retail I'd definitely overtip
