New York City Comptroller Brad Lander detained by ICE, his mayoral campaign said
The incident comes days after law enforcement handcuffed Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., at an immigration-related press briefing with Homeland Security Sec. Kristi Noem.
New York City Comptroller Brad Lander was detained after an incident inside an immigration court in the city, a spokesperson for his mayoral campaign told NBC News Tuesday.
Kat Capossela, Lander’s press secretary, told NBC News in an email that “Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE,” a reference to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, after “escorting a defendant out of immigration court.”

ICE seems to just arrest anybody they deem unworthy.

Side note: the guy on the right is hot.
Not that I'm surprised by this, but these guys look like nothing more than hired thugs rather than even your average sloppy local sheriff's office. These tactics to take down a paunchy middle aged guy are completely unnecessary. God knows how they act when they encounter what appears to be a real threat/someone that might fight back

I get the feeling that Stephen Miller orgasms whenever he sees footage like this.
(This may explain why his wife has taken up with Elon.)

Fox "News" was claiming Lander staged it.

Isn’t it funny how “do it the legal way” folks never care if ICE or Donald Trump follow the law? And how those oppressed by masks have now learned to love them.
ICE has no right to detain an American. They have zero authority over citizens.
Again and again, we see that most Americans are bound by but not protected by the law. While Republicans get protected but not bound by the law.

But it won't go up enough for him to win the election.

Who the hell are these federal agents and who oversees them? Hoodie-wearing, masked, backward-baseball cap punks with some authority. The upside is I hope their actions come back to haunt Trump bigly.

In the NY Times today, Ezra Klein, one of their regular opinion columnist who also has a popular political podcast, comes out endorsing Brad Lander and properly trashing Andrew Cuomo while damning Zohran Mamdani with faint praise and highlighting how relatively inexperienced he is compared to Lander.
And Lander and Mamdani endorsed each other, urging their respective followings to rank them first and second on the ballot in order to block Cuomo.
I early-voted Monday, placing Lander at 1., Mamdani at 2. (Stringer, Adrienne Adams and Zyrie at 3, 4 and 5).

A surprising number of people believe Lander did this for publicity, since he’s trailing in the polls. Cynical much?

R13, that’s the way I’ve been leaning also. I think my vote is going to pretty much mirror yours exactly.
