Such a memory

I was in second grade, just past my Captain Kangaroo viewing era, when they started using this updated opening and theme song. It was probably my first experience with having part of my kid world change, and it bothered the hell out of me. The part in the bridge when they quoted Puffin' Billy (the theme song they used for decades) I found especially egregious. Of course, it's a perfectly charming song and was better suited for the 1970s audience, but at the time it made me mad because it wasn't the right way for the show to start.
Having said that, I did enjoy the "good morning, Captain" clips they added to the intro. They made tons of them and showed a handful at random at the top of the show. It was fun to see which of the CBS stars or other celebrities would show up on a given morning. I was happy to see Cher and the Match Game gang in OP's compilation. And I had to laugh when Celeste Holm appeared, because it made me imagine Mister Moose popping up behind her to say, "Oh, shit, good manners!"
