Songs where you didn't know the name/artist

Has anyone else ever had a song they heard and couldn't identify the name/artist for a while? Months or years? Did you finally get the name / artist name?

I heard this a few years ago and finally, FINALLY heard it again on a streaming radio station where I learned the name and artist.

Oh, my gosh, this takes me back to the '60s when I was in the first grade, sitting in my bedroom with my little portable 45 record player, and setting the needle down on this one over and over and over again.

To this day, I love "Classical Gas," and I did know it was Mason Williams, but only because his name was on the 45.

BREAKOUT by Swing Out Sister.

I'd hear it on the radio ocassionally and a friend told me it was from whoever had sung the THAT GIRL theme. I believed it for years. Stupid me.

Nick Heyward, "Whistle Down the Wind". I'd heard it in the 80's but didn't know who it was from. Years later I was working an inventory gig in a TJ Maxx and heard it again, I'd forgotten all about it. I was able to google the lyrics and found it.

Have In Mind - Cetu Javu

Heard it a few time on a local radio station back in the 90s when they'd do weekend party/dance music but could never understand the lyrics enough to figure out the song and it was before the internet was omnipresent. I even recorded it from the radio and asked around but no one could ID it. I only found it by accident many years later on a CD of rare 80s remixes I bought for different tracks

I feel shame, because I really like Savage Garden, but not more than a month ago I learned they sang this song. I think I just assumed it was Roxette. For decades.
