Eldergays, Tell Me About Greta Scacchi

Eldergays, tell me about Greta Scacchi.

She was in quite a bit in the 1980's and 1990's, in hits such as Heat and Dust, White Mischief, Presumed Innocent, The Player, Jefferson in Paris, Emma, and Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny.

But by the year 2000 her career was practically over. What happened?

Having a kid with your first cousin doesn't help your career.

by Anonymousreply 1June 16, 2025 1:26 AM

Turned down “Basic Instinct.” Had a kid with Vincent D’Onofrio who’s a hot mess. Fucked her cousin.

Screwed up an otherwise promising career due to her pussy.

Tale as old as time.

by Anonymousreply 2June 16, 2025 1:29 AM

She also hinted at the fact that she had spurned Harvey Weinstein, which didn't work to her advantage.

by Anonymousreply 3June 16, 2025 1:31 AM

Thank you, Greta. You’re disgusting but I appreciate you.

by Anonymousreply 4June 16, 2025 1:33 AM

Who cares - get rid of her.

by Anonymousreply 5June 16, 2025 1:35 AM

Her daughter married Sean Penn, which is concrete proof you were an abominable parent.

by Anonymousreply 6June 16, 2025 1:37 AM

Was she a diva?

by Anonymousreply 7June 16, 2025 1:40 AM

She's average looking now

[quote] She's average looking now

Average?

She’s your fat, spinster aunt.

Time is a bitch.

by Anonymousreply 9June 16, 2025 1:50 AM

She stopped having a mint for dinner.

by Anonymousreply 10June 16, 2025 1:50 AM

Greta Scacchi is now Vicki Lawrence.

by Anonymousreply 11June 16, 2025 1:52 AM

[quote] Greta Scacchi: ‘I was always being invited to play a male fantasy’

Not anymore.

by Anonymousreply 12June 16, 2025 1:56 AM

Never made in past the year 2000

by Anonymousreply 13June 16, 2025 1:56 AM

Had the chops to be a great femme fatale but was more interested in her cousin’s cock.

by Anonymousreply 14June 16, 2025 1:59 AM

She won an Emmy as Czarina Alexandra in HBO's Rasputin.

by Anonymousreply 15June 16, 2025 2:01 AM

She’s now a fat, pear-shaped Italian woman.

It’s inevitable.

by Anonymousreply 16June 16, 2025 2:06 AM

R5 = Detective Goren

by Anonymousreply 17June 16, 2025 2:07 AM

Men and women truly age differently.

Vincent D’Onofrio still looks good, even when he’s fat as shit playing Kingpin on “Daredevil.” Greta, meanwhile, is now an Italian Nona who looks like she’s smuggling a brisket in her girdle.

Vincent can still get 30-something pussy. She couldn’t get felt up by a blind Italian grandpa.

She should at least buy a treadmill and make an effort to look presentable. Currently, she’s a fat, elderly embarrassment.

by Anonymousreply 18June 16, 2025 2:13 AM

Incest isn’t the best career move. Mostly.

by Anonymousreply 19June 16, 2025 2:17 AM

She convincingly played such a vile, homewrecking bitch in “Presumed Innocent,” that the audience was actually happy when they learned Bonnie Bedillia’s character smashed her head in with a hammer. That’s how detestable the character was. Even though the men were really the problem - she fucked half the dopey cast- she just emanated narcissistic evil.

She would have actually been very interesting in “Basic Instinct.” But Sharon owned that role.

by Anonymousreply 20June 16, 2025 2:28 AM

Mentioned this on another thread -- she's co-starring with Bryan Brown in a series ("Darby and Joan") filmed in Australia. They travel around solving crimes. It's on Acorn.

R20 Presumed Innocent really is an underrated film. So many good performances; Scacchi, Harrison Ford, Raul Julia, Brian Dennehy, Paul Winfield, John Spencer, and, as you mentioned, Bonnie Bedillia

by Anonymousreply 22June 16, 2025 2:34 AM

THIS is the first cousin whose dick she chose over her career....

by Anonymousreply 23June 16, 2025 2:36 AM

R22 Yes, both Raul and Bonnie could have earned supporting Oscar noms and no one would have had a problem. They were that good.

It has been sadly forgotten.

by Anonymousreply 24June 16, 2025 2:39 AM

R24 One of Raul Julia's best performances

by Anonymousreply 25June 16, 2025 2:42 AM

“Presumed Innocent” is mostly concerned with the stale, courtroom machinations of all the male characters when it’s really far more primal: An evil, feline viper vs. a clever and fed-up mama bear who was pushed one step too far.

by Anonymousreply 26June 16, 2025 2:57 AM

She was really gorgeous. Even if she's heavy now there's no excuse for that hair cut and colour.

by Anonymousreply 27June 16, 2025 3:02 AM

[quote] Vincent D’Onofrio still looks good, even when he’s fat as shit playing Kingpin on “Daredevil.”

R18=Stevie Wonder

by Anonymousreply 28June 16, 2025 3:08 AM

Oh nevermind I see. R18 is the anti woman troll who makes up half the comments here and in the thread defending Jared Leto for being a rapist.

Makes sense.

by Anonymousreply 29June 16, 2025 3:16 AM

[quote] Turned down “Basic Instinct.”

She was as beautiful as Sharon Stone in the mid-90s.

by Anonymousreply 30June 16, 2025 3:31 AM

I think she’s happier now she’s not a bombshell

by Anonymousreply 31June 16, 2025 5:38 AM

Italian cock makes people do crazy things.

by Anonymousreply 38June 16, 2025 6:25 AM

Greta was not only gorgeous but also charming.

She had a small part in Flightplan.

by Anonymousreply 39June 16, 2025 6:33 AM

I’m glad I got rid of saatchi he was aboosive

by Anonymousreply 40June 16, 2025 6:39 AM

I saw her play Miss Julie in 1992 with the Sydney Theatre Company.

She was excellent.

And the production was infamous for killing a live budgie on stage.

by Anonymousreply 41June 16, 2025 6:39 AM

Once or every night?!

by Anonymousreply 42June 16, 2025 7:26 AM

She’s no different than the British Royal Family.

by Anonymousreply 43June 16, 2025 7:27 AM

She’s got great tits, I’ll give her that.

by Anonymousreply 44June 16, 2025 7:27 AM

by Anonymousreply 46June 16, 2025 7:29 AM

What the hell is a feline viper, R26?

by Anonymousreply 47June 16, 2025 7:53 AM

She has a small part in the 2008 version of "Brideshead Revisited" with Matthew Goode, Ben Whishaw, Emma Thompson, Michael Gambon & Hayley Atwell.

by Anonymousreply 48June 16, 2025 7:54 AM

R39, indeed she did. I spent the rest of the movie thinking she had to be the villain somehow, given her being famous, no way she would only have that minor role and screen time.

But nope, it was all it was.

by Anonymousreply 49June 16, 2025 10:10 AM

She's worked extensively in her career but she was a lot more interesting than the Hollywood femme fatale roles she was cast in. Polly Walker was very similar.

Look at her stage work - Ibsen, Strindberg, Shepard, Pinter, Coward, Schiller, Rattigan, Sondheim, Shakespeare, Chekov, Williams and Osborne. Any actor would kill to be able to do that range.

Leila George played the younger version of Cate Blanchett in Disclaimer. It was a small role but she was incredible in it. You knew what was coming but it was still a shock.

Tilda Swinton’s ex-husband John Byrne which whom she had two children discovered in his 60s that he is the result of an incestuous relationship between his mother and his own grandfather.

His daughter with Tilda is an aspiring actress and she has a massive jaw.

by Anonymousreply 51June 16, 2025 11:24 AM

Oh good, there’s another season of Darby and Joan.

by Anonymousreply 52June 16, 2025 12:15 PM

She went from fucking on film guys like Charles Dance and Harrison Ford to playing the bag lady at your local Coles.

by Anonymousreply 53June 16, 2025 1:41 PM

Her narration of Persuasion by Jane Austen in available on Audible and is excellent; romantic and suspenseful.

by Anonymousreply 54June 16, 2025 1:57 PM

R54 Thank you!

by Anonymousreply 55June 16, 2025 7:09 PM

Well she might be matronly now, but her kids certainly inherited her beauty as a young woman.

by Anonymousreply 56June 16, 2025 8:15 PM

The inbred one looks special.

You’re a good-looking movie star. You can’t find anyone to fuck other than your first cousin? It’s not like she lived in rural Oklahoma. Her options were limitless.

by Anonymousreply 57June 16, 2025 8:22 PM

I hope that kid doesn't get one of those assignments they give in school whete you have to do your family tree. His teacher will be like no that's wrong that's not how you do it. Then he gets an F.

by Anonymousreply 58June 16, 2025 8:38 PM

Hey, her current co-star Bryan Brown is pretty hot for his age R53

by Anonymousreply 59June 17, 2025 6:10 AM

She had a witty anecdote about how, during her pre-movie-career modeling days, she was out in a New York restaurant one night with a bunch of other models. A group of Italian guys were discussing among themselves who would "take" which girl, not knowing that she was completely fluent in Italian (bilingual?) and understood every word they were saying. She described the other models as bimbos who were sitting around talking about their favorite mascara brands.

by Anonymousreply 60June 17, 2025 6:26 AM

R60 I do think she was smart, just look at the films se accepted and rejected.

by Anonymousreply 61June 17, 2025 1:45 PM

[quote]Hey, her current co-star Bryan Brown is pretty hot for his age [R53]

He's still married to his "Thorn Birds" co-star, Rachel Ward, who directed a number of "Darby and Joan" episodes.

by Anonymousreply 62June 17, 2025 2:38 PM

R62 That Thorn Birds with DL fav Richard Chamberlain?

by Anonymousreply 63June 17, 2025 4:05 PM

R62 now there is a natural beauty who hasn’t ruined her aging face

by Anonymousreply 64June 17, 2025 4:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 65June 17, 2025 4:47 PM

This is a great thread. I’ve always liked her, but I didn’t know much about her.

I think she’s a great actress. Heat and Dust isn’t a great movie but I liked it. Christopher Cazenove was so handsome in the early 80s.

by Anonymousreply 67June 17, 2025 6:25 PM

I thought she was related to the Saatchi and Saatchi family of advertising fame. Then I took a closer look and realized their names are spelled completely differently.

by Anonymousreply 68June 17, 2025 6:43 PM

She was good in a small role in the recent BBC version of War & Peace; she definitely has the look of a faded beauty that's been around the block a few times.

by Anonymousreply 69June 17, 2025 6:44 PM

She starred in one of my favorite Miss Marple episodes, By The Pricking of My Thumbs in 2006.

Thanks for that, R21. We have Acorn for a couple more weeks (my wife wanted to see the latest "Harry Wild") and just watched the first episode. R59 wasn't kidding that Bryan Brown looks great for his age.

by Anonymousreply 71June 17, 2025 11:47 PM

Is it on anything besides Acorn?

by Anonymousreply 72June 18, 2025 2:03 AM

[quote]Is it on anything besides Acorn?

It's an Acorn original, so your options if you're in the US are either to get a 7-day free trial and cancel it before you're billed the monthly fee (you can do so through Acorn's website or via Amazon) or to check your local library. The second season is still exclusive to subscribers but the first can be streamed for free on some library-affiliated apps, like Hoopla, or borrowed on DVD.

by Anonymousreply 73June 18, 2025 2:39 AM

You watched Heat and Dust and decided that Christopher Cazenove was the handsome one?
