Ryan Murphy’s ‘American Love Story’ Sets February Release

According to Murphy’s post, production began this week in New York City and the series will debut in February 2026, specifically the week of Valentine’s Day.

“Here are some stills from our LOVE STORY camera test,” Murphy captioned the photo. “We started shooting this week in New York City and can’t wait until you see the romantic and tragic love story between America’s prince, JFK Jr., and fashion icon Carolyn Bessette—out Valentine’s Day week of 2026. I am thrilled to introduce you to Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn and Paul Kelly as John F. Kennedy Jr. Over a thousand actors auditioned for each of these roles, and we absolutely found the perfect choices. Congratulations Sarah and Paul!”

Murphy is under an overall deal at Disney, and “American Love Story” adds to his long-running slate at FX in particular, which also includes “Feud,” “American Horror Story,” “American Crime Story,” “American Sports Story” and the upcoming body horror series “The Beauty.”

Charlie Sheen used to be gorgeous, until he turned into a human dumpster and consumed anything and everything (and everyone) he could get his hands on.

Understandably, that image has long since faded in our memories because of the ugly (inside and out) person he turned into.

I just don't see this being interesting because the two main characters were so incredibly shallow and empty-headed.

Also, except for their deaths, nothing much happened to them in their lives. All they ever did was shop and argue.

On Thursday, Schlossberg spoke out against the FX limited series in a video posted to his Instagram Stories as he drove on the John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway, saying that his family was never consulted about the project.

"Lately, my news feed has been filled with pictures of my uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr., a great man," Schlossberg said in the video. "For those wondering whether his family was ever consulted, or has anything to do with the new show being made about him, the answer is no, and there's really not much we can do."

Schlossberg went on to explain that "the right to privacy, which includes the ability to control your own name, image, and likeness, doesn't survive death in the state of New York. And for that matter, he's considered a public figure, so there's not much we can do."

But, he said, "I hope those making this show about him take seriously what he stood for in his life, all that he achieved in it, and that they donate some of the profits [from] what they're making to the John F. Kennedy Library."

Schlossberg went on to note that he's not against a project that celebrates JFK Jr., as long as it's done with the right intentions. "For the record, I think admiration for my uncle John is great," he said. "What I don't think is great is profiting off of it in a grotesque way."

Representatives for Murphy and FX didn't immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's requests for comment.

For all his physical beauty, CBK is more interesting than JFK, Jr.

As for CBK's superb fashion sense, which I admire, she knew that that gorgeous human accessory on her arm completed her look.

Shrewdly and correctly (and I mean that as a compliment) CBK knew that her being white, blonde, tall and a bit distant, needed minimal cloaking with a superb restraint and eye. When you have the status signifiers she had, embellishment is needed.

From that perspective, CBK is credited with too much "style" sense, when really, somebody else who doesn't start off with her physical advantages but has a great sense of style deserves more credit.

I believe a DLer from long ago who knew Jackie through business and was an observer of the JFK, Jr and CBK thing. He said that JFK, Jr was in over his head with CBK. That for all his fame he really was kind of naive and sheltered and CBK as far more hip and socially skilled behind the scenes of their public appearances.

The casting choices are at the level of a 70s Movie of the Week biopic.

Jesus Schlossberg is obnoxious. He is trying to dictate how the show should be written? He wants part of the profits for the Museum (hardly the most needy charity you could choose). And he talks about JFK Jr being a great man? WTF? His life was imploding in terms of career and marriage at the time of his death.

What I was really shocked by at the time was that serious politicians and serious journalists covered the death like it was in important thing. I always thought of JFK Jr as a pop culture person, a staple of People Magazine. I thought his death might have been covered extensively in magazines in a lurid way or on TMZ. But I was stunned that there was naval deployment to find his wreck and the bodies were salvaged after a very long search in order to instantly cremate them and put them right back in the ocean…. And the president talked about it and people were acting like this was the death of Ann attorney general or a sec of state. He was just a fucking himbo. He didn’t need a navy ship as a send off for his ashes.

Schlossberg Jr and Schlossberg Sr need to align their views on monetizing the Kennedys.

The leads are not beautiful enough. Esp Carolyn - they are going to see the need for makeup on that actress, she can't go with mascara and lip balm like CBK.

Murphy should have trotted out Katie Holmes for another go at Jackie. At least she looks the part, it's not prestige, acting doesn't matter.
