After quitting the bizarre injections that puffed up his muscles, a Russian bodybuilder has become the latest in a long and unfortunate line of pro weightlifters to meet untimely demises. As The Sun reports, 35-year-old Nikita Tkachuk hadn't injected synthol — a so-called "site enhancement oil" primarily made up of oils like paraffin or sesame alongside a local anesthetic and benzoyl alcohol that makes muscles appear bulkier without actually causing any strength or fitness benefits — before he died of a heart attack in a St. Petersburg hospital last week. The story of how he got there is tragic, even for the morbid world of weightlifting.
So he *didn’t* inject that stuff? So why did they take such pains to describe it?

So looking like a cartoon character (for men and women) and doing crazy things and procedures in order to do so, may not be the best for your health?!? Who knew!

A bodybuilder and weight lifter are two completely different things. Most, unlike whoever wrote that thread intro, understand this. They are not close to being the same.

They are close in that they lift the thing and put it back down. But one's about strength and the other beauty.
Bigorexia should be seriously treated and studied, just as deadly as anorexia.

An ordinary Russian would not have injected synthol.
He would have drunk it.

Tell me a sport you know that has nothing to do with lifting weights? R5
Chess?
A body builder lifts weights because they don’t have a better way to “enhance” their body.
