"Why, for instance, would [they] pay Anderson Cooper $18 million a year when Kaitlan Collins draws the same ratings at roughly a fifth of the salary? (Of course, by the time [they] get[] around to it, Anderson will likely have determined that he no longer wants to read the day’s news to less than a million people every night, either.) Does the network need more than a handful of marquee names hosting a few key hours, or can it pay younger, reasonably attractive talent mere hundreds of thousands to read the same transcripts off the teleprompter?"
Sad last days of CNN - get ready for the cull of high priced talent

"and doing comedy podcasts like Cuomo real soon"
Comedy podcasts like Cuomo would be a step up from his New Year's Eve idiocy.

Good! No one needs $18 million a year to read off the fucking telemprompter. Give the job to actual journalists, not media personalities.

But Anderson is still a grieving professional orphan (at 58)! Have pity!

I dont fault Anderson Cooper and he is a real TV news reporter. Or was. He got the salary that made sense at the time and that CNN was willing to shell out. See: Gayle King - cashing enormous checks for years If CNN gives Anderson the boot, who cares.
