Old Queen Contemplating TikTock On The Phone
I try to stay away from apps outside of the walled Apple garden, but more and more links lead to TikTock.
I don’t need yet another brain waster app, but this one has delivered some delightful stuff about cats and dogs. It was also good with LA protests.
I gave up on X since the idiot, so my breaking news is restricted to NPR, Google news, and Alternet (delays for editing and checking bonafides don’t feed my need for instant information).
Regarding the value of your time and sanity, is it worth it?

My advice? Click on the occasional link you come across, but don't download the app itself. It was masterfully crafted to rewire your brain into craving more of its content, possibly more so than any other social media app. Also, you'll be outraged most of the time because the Chinese have doubled down on its algorithm serving you political crap. As has YouTube, but it's that much more noticeable on TikTok.
I frequent the online addiction subreddit sometimes and I've noticed that TikTok is by far the hardest app to quit.

R1 I don’t think you can watch videos without the app even with direct links. Not anymore.
