Curious as to how DL's — shall we say — age cohort feels about this.
Smoking (tobacco)

I gave up smoking because of Mom's death from emphysema. She regretted smoking, and had to give it up later in life for an aneurysm surgery. I miss her constantly.

I smoked for a few years in my mid-20s. It corresponded with heavy drinking and semi-regular cocaine use.
Quit just before I turned 28.
I am now 41 and still miss it from time to time.

Weight loss drugs are the new cigarette. Helps you stop eating early and makes you feel like garbage.

OP here. Looks like more than half of DLers are smokers or ex-smokers, which is about what I'd expect.
Sometimes in nice weather I'll sit on the patio at a local watering hole that's definitely not upscale. Without exception it seems that everyone under 30 either vapes or has one of those tins of nicotine pouches on the table. Nearly everyone who smokes cigarettes is older.
