Mayor of Jersey City, New Jersey had his eye on Trenton. Last night in the Democratic Primary he lost to Mikie Sherrill. Hudson, his home county, voted for her. When Steve considered running for Gov a few years ago, Jim McGreevey moved to town from Plainfield with hope of running for JC mayor. Steve decided not to give up seat. HIs term ends January 1, 2026. Mc Greevey still plans to run for mayor. Steve married at 40. What do we really know about him?

I know he looks like an idiot when he runs up the stairs in a political ad.

I used to live in Jersey City. He was deeply beholden to the corrupt Democratic county machine and in the pocket of housing developers. He was always hungry to move on to higher office and a friend of mine who knew him said everyone thought he would be the first Jewish president some day. Not looking so likely now.

The Dem machine does not like Fulop r2. His home county, the Hudson county democratic party, endorsed Sherill. Pretty much the entire party machine lined up to endorse Sherill.
Fulop has always been more of an outsider from the Jersey machine, which is why he lost.

Not always. His ambition put him at odds eventually. The machine is awful in NJ. But he pandered to housing developers like no one I have ever seen. Also most people I know in JC are tired of him.
