Has Oprah ever expressed any regrets?

I've always admired her, if only for making reading so popular again among millions of Americans in the 1990s.

But she has done things many people will admit were huge mistakes: advocating a bunch of various feel-good snake oil salesmen (Dr. Phil, Marianne Williamson, Dr. Oz, Rhonda Byrne); calling her experience of not being allowed in an Hermes store after hours "my Crash moment"; the interview with Harry and Meghan.

Has she regretted any of these things publicly?

by Anonymousreply 43June 9, 2025 5:31 PM

Feeding into Satanic Panic by having people who claimed to have been ritually abused and never questioning it or pushing back against it.

[quote]Has she regretted any of these things publicly?

She is Oprah.

She does neither regret nor stairs.

by Anonymousreply 2June 8, 2025 7:35 PM

Regrets? She's had a few. But then again, too few to mention.

by Anonymousreply 3June 8, 2025 7:47 PM

She's richer than God. That's all she cares about.

by Anonymousreply 4June 8, 2025 9:08 PM

Claiming racism when the Hermes store would not let her in due it being closed.

by Anonymousreply 5June 8, 2025 9:15 PM

Miss Oprah Regrets

by Anonymousreply 6June 8, 2025 9:19 PM

Miss Oprah regets she can not have lunch today.

by Anonymousreply 7June 8, 2025 9:21 PM

Perhaps she regrets not being niggardly with the cheddar biscuits. Maybe she wouldn’t be 500 pounds.

by Anonymousreply 8June 8, 2025 9:25 PM

I've always liked her buuuuttt - she has become like Barbara Walters to me. The older she gets, the more I see through the facade. I don't think she's anywhere nice as we think and she's VERY calculating.

I also knew several people who worked for her in Chicago - it was creepy. They couldn't even breathe her name in public - that's how tight-lipped employees had to be. While I understand some of that, I also found it a bit odd and overprotective of her image.

Yet she has done a lot of good things and helped thousands of people with her money and other charitable causes. I just don't think people REALLY know her except Gail and her boyfriend.

by Anonymousreply 9June 8, 2025 9:44 PM

Of course not. A narcissist never admits failure.

by Anonymousreply 10June 8, 2025 9:52 PM

My only regret is that I didn't enjoy more BREAD.

by Anonymousreply 11June 8, 2025 9:57 PM

She regrets not having done more publicity for BELOVED.

by Anonymousreply 12June 8, 2025 9:59 PM

She should regret that stupid intro she sang for her show.

by Anonymousreply 13June 8, 2025 9:59 PM

[quote] I've always liked her buuuuttt

This is a GAY forum, if I may remind you.

by Anonymousreply 14June 8, 2025 10:09 PM

The Hermes incident really turned me off. Closed is closed.

by Anonymousreply 15June 8, 2025 10:51 PM

Her personal dog trainer said to never get a dog over a year old because it had all of its problems for life. I wrote so many angry emails and l letters that I'm probably on a watchlist. Hated that bitch before anyone else.

by Anonymousreply 16June 9, 2025 12:17 AM

She's all about money. That is it. Plus she is gay.

by Anonymousreply 17June 9, 2025 12:25 AM

Never complain never explain is probably her motto at this point.

by Anonymousreply 18June 9, 2025 1:11 AM

Maybe in her farts.

by Anonymousreply 19June 9, 2025 2:06 AM

[quote]Has Oprah ever expressed any regrets?

Of course not.

She's a megalomaniac.

by Anonymousreply 20June 9, 2025 2:18 AM

R15 Her behavior in the Hermes incident shows who she really is. If this were racism Id scream racism so loubd it would cross the ocean and boon-a-rang off the Eiffel Tower and head back to the states, but this was NOT racism. The store was closing early for some sort of event, a white person would have been treated the sane . Maybe, just maybe, if they knew she was a billionaire and likely to drop a boatload of cash, thry might have let her in.

by Anonymousreply 21June 9, 2025 2:23 AM

“Can not”. Oh, dear.

by Anonymousreply 22June 9, 2025 2:58 AM

The Breville sandwich maker did not create a snack tastier than Gayle’s snatch.

My bad.

by Anonymousreply 23June 9, 2025 3:20 AM

SHE DEEPLY REGRETS the time Tom Cruise soiled her couch with his tiny feet — and then tried to electrocute her.

While I agree that Oprah didn't have the right to enter a closed store, I'm sure the employee was an absolute snotty cunt about it. I hate everyone involved in that story.

by Anonymousreply 25June 9, 2025 5:10 AM

She thinks she's Edith Piaf.

by Anonymousreply 26June 9, 2025 5:43 AM

I've never liked her. I've always thought she was a phony.

by Anonymousreply 27June 9, 2025 5:51 AM

The Markle/Harry interview was horrible. Especially trying to bring racism into the story without trying to fact check any of the absurd claims.

by Anonymousreply 28June 9, 2025 6:15 AM

That one time she forgot toilet paper.

She regrets not being a trail-blazing astronaut like Gayle.

by Anonymousreply 30June 9, 2025 7:15 AM

Endorsing James Frey's "A Million Little Pieces" -- She regretted it on air.

by Anonymousreply 31June 9, 2025 8:01 AM

She was in Paris. Isn't snobby cuntiness expected?

by Anonymousreply 32June 9, 2025 3:57 PM

Why, yes. Once during kink play, Gayle shoved bird eggs up my twat, where they incubated in my soft, warm goodness. When they hatched, I heaved one giant pussy fart and expressed egrets.

by Anonymousreply 33June 9, 2025 4:10 PM

R31, I watched when she brought Frey back on the show with the specific intent to humiliate him during his mea culpa. She was pissed which was to be expected. He did, after all, promote an embellished fictional account of a supposed non-fiction book, but the way she went about it spoke volumes about her. She could have handled the situation with grace and a sense of decorum, instead she allowed her ego and in turn, her anger to take front and center. Not a good look for a so called professional.

by Anonymousreply 34June 9, 2025 4:26 PM

The best Oprah sketch. I don’t know why Maya Rudolph got so much acclaim as Oprah, she sucked compared to Wilson.

Note how the guest is also affected by the thinning camera.

That whole thing was bizarre, R34. Remember Josh, one of the Beekman Boys, who used to come on here to shill his book? He was friends with James Frey and was with him that night Oprah called into some show when the story was breaking (“Oprah is on the phone!”) and she said that his distortion of the truth “didn’t matter”. She got a lot of shit for that so then she had him on her show and went off. So did she really care about the truth about the book or was she just mad that she was called out?

by Anonymousreply 36June 9, 2025 4:42 PM

“ she said that his distortion of the truth “didn’t matter””

Was she talking about Frey or me?

by Anonymousreply 37June 9, 2025 4:46 PM

I don't think she has. I think she's in love with herself and all her own hype. I never got why she was so popular but I think it's good she made her money when she did. She sure seems out of touch now.

by Anonymousreply 38June 9, 2025 4:51 PM

R36, now it makes sense. The way she brought on people to call him out was rather low and I can see now it was an overreaction to the public's initial feedback.

I recall a man in the audience take his turn dressing him down, but he over rehearsed his little speech and screwed it up. A total bully mentality yet Frey took his hits without resorting to hysterics like the rest of the judgmental guest/audience members present that day. It was uncomfortable to watch so I can't imagine how he felt.

You need a life and different priorities R16.

[quote]advocating a bunch of various feel-good snake oil salesmen (Dr. Phil, Marianne Williamson, Dr. Oz, Rhonda Byrne); calling her experience of not being allowed in an Hermes store after hours "my Crash moment"; the interview with Harry and Meghan.

She didn't apologize although, she endorsed Fetterman over Oz publicly and cancelled his radio show, she also said that she was disturbed by Phil's support of ICE.

I don't think Marianne Williamson is in the same class as the other two but her thoughts in 1992 re: AIDS and her continued response that never told anyone to not take their medication are all over the place. I don't think she's genuinely a bad person these days.

The Hermes thing was a massive misunderstanding that should have been solved directly instead of being brought up on her show.

And I don't see what was wrong with the Harry and Meghan interview, whatever they said was on them.

by Anonymousreply 41June 9, 2025 5:23 PM

I have no issues with Oprah. I truly believe she is one of those when you know better you do better people.

by Anonymousreply 42June 9, 2025 5:24 PM

R40, the price of beef dropped after O made pronouncements about never eating raw meat. She probably sentenced way more dogs to death than saved any cows.
