Has Oprah ever expressed any regrets?
I've always admired her, if only for making reading so popular again among millions of Americans in the 1990s.
But she has done things many people will admit were huge mistakes: advocating a bunch of various feel-good snake oil salesmen (Dr. Phil, Marianne Williamson, Dr. Oz, Rhonda Byrne); calling her experience of not being allowed in an Hermes store after hours "my Crash moment"; the interview with Harry and Meghan.
Has she regretted any of these things publicly?

Feeding into Satanic Panic by having people who claimed to have been ritually abused and never questioning it or pushing back against it.

She is Oprah.
She does neither regret nor stairs.

Regrets? She's had a few. But then again, too few to mention.

Perhaps she regrets not being niggardly with the cheddar biscuits. Maybe she wouldn’t be 500 pounds.

I've always liked her buuuuttt - she has become like Barbara Walters to me. The older she gets, the more I see through the facade. I don't think she's anywhere nice as we think and she's VERY calculating.
I also knew several people who worked for her in Chicago - it was creepy. They couldn't even breathe her name in public - that's how tight-lipped employees had to be. While I understand some of that, I also found it a bit odd and overprotective of her image.
Yet she has done a lot of good things and helped thousands of people with her money and other charitable causes. I just don't think people REALLY know her except Gail and her boyfriend.

R15 Her behavior in the Hermes incident shows who she really is. If this were racism Id scream racism so loubd it would cross the ocean and boon-a-rang off the Eiffel Tower and head back to the states, but this was NOT racism. The store was closing early for some sort of event, a white person would have been treated the sane . Maybe, just maybe, if they knew she was a billionaire and likely to drop a boatload of cash, thry might have let her in.

While I agree that Oprah didn't have the right to enter a closed store, I'm sure the employee was an absolute snotty cunt about it. I hate everyone involved in that story.

Why, yes. Once during kink play, Gayle shoved bird eggs up my twat, where they incubated in my soft, warm goodness. When they hatched, I heaved one giant pussy fart and expressed egrets.

R31, I watched when she brought Frey back on the show with the specific intent to humiliate him during his mea culpa. She was pissed which was to be expected. He did, after all, promote an embellished fictional account of a supposed non-fiction book, but the way she went about it spoke volumes about her. She could have handled the situation with grace and a sense of decorum, instead she allowed her ego and in turn, her anger to take front and center. Not a good look for a so called professional.

The best Oprah sketch. I don’t know why Maya Rudolph got so much acclaim as Oprah, she sucked compared to Wilson.
Note how the guest is also affected by the thinning camera.

That whole thing was bizarre, R34. Remember Josh, one of the Beekman Boys, who used to come on here to shill his book? He was friends with James Frey and was with him that night Oprah called into some show when the story was breaking (“Oprah is on the phone!”) and she said that his distortion of the truth “didn’t matter”. She got a lot of shit for that so then she had him on her show and went off. So did she really care about the truth about the book or was she just mad that she was called out?

I don't think she has. I think she's in love with herself and all her own hype. I never got why she was so popular but I think it's good she made her money when she did. She sure seems out of touch now.

R36, now it makes sense. The way she brought on people to call him out was rather low and I can see now it was an overreaction to the public's initial feedback.
I recall a man in the audience take his turn dressing him down, but he over rehearsed his little speech and screwed it up. A total bully mentality yet Frey took his hits without resorting to hysterics like the rest of the judgmental guest/audience members present that day. It was uncomfortable to watch so I can't imagine how he felt.

[quote]advocating a bunch of various feel-good snake oil salesmen (Dr. Phil, Marianne Williamson, Dr. Oz, Rhonda Byrne); calling her experience of not being allowed in an Hermes store after hours "my Crash moment"; the interview with Harry and Meghan.
She didn't apologize although, she endorsed Fetterman over Oz publicly and cancelled his radio show, she also said that she was disturbed by Phil's support of ICE.
I don't think Marianne Williamson is in the same class as the other two but her thoughts in 1992 re: AIDS and her continued response that never told anyone to not take their medication are all over the place. I don't think she's genuinely a bad person these days.
The Hermes thing was a massive misunderstanding that should have been solved directly instead of being brought up on her show.
And I don't see what was wrong with the Harry and Meghan interview, whatever they said was on them.
