The 4 Genders Of Buddhism...

They are 1 = male, 2 = female, 3 = pandaka, and 4 = ubhatobyanjanaka (intersex or "both sexes").

Has the ACLU, Buddhists, LGBT organizations, or the Democrats/Socialist Parties filed any actions in any courts over Trumpy's executive order (eneacted months ago) that "there are only 2 genders"? It seems like it obviously violates the religious rights of Buddhisms, which would make it unconstitutional?

Why don't all US religions or political groups use the religious clause in the U.S. Constitution to its full power?

Is an "executive order" truly a law/policy? I know places are using Trump's edict to wildly discriminate, but is a case against an executive order actionable?

by Anonymousreply 3June 17, 2025 6:51 PM

I would assume so R3.

As far as I can ascertain, EOs are law - but they CAN be taken to court and deemed unconstitutional. They are more vulnerable in that regard than Congressional statutes, which at least have been debated and voted upon.

PS They can also be undone by another President - just as Trump has overturned dozens of Biden's EOs

Pandaka and ubhatobyanjanaka aren't genders. The latter is basically what we would call intersex today. A pandaka is kind of a catch-all term referring to a person with "deviant" sexual behaviors, as well as eunuchs or people with malformed or damaged genitalia. And both are prohibited from being ordained as Buddhist monastics according to any of the the vinaya (monastery codes) currently in use.

It must be fun to make up shit about religions you don’t understand OP.

by Anonymousreply 8July 3, 2025 12:14 PM

R7 Who gives a flying fuck if they can't be ordained in the religion?

That wasn't the point of this thread.

by Anonymousreply 9July 3, 2025 1:22 PM

I mentioned it because OP seemed to insinuate that these genders were "embraced" in Buddhism.

I'll take one from Column A and one from Column B. Do I get eggroll?

by Anonymousreply 11July 3, 2025 3:37 PM

R3, "executive orders," at least in theory, affect only agencies in the Executive branch.
