Another act of vandalism in downtown L.A. as Robert O’Hara defaces ‘Hamlet’ at the Taper
The hot doctor from "The Pitt" ain't no Shakespearean actor:
Playwright and director Robert O’Hara has turned his puckish attention to “Hamlet,” treating Shakespeare’s tragedy not as an august cultural treasure that has held the world’s attention for more than 400 years but as a squeaky plaything that can be exploited for eccentric fun and games.
It goes without saying that his new adaptation of “Hamlet,” which had its premiere Wednesday at the Mark Taper Forum, isn’t for purists. But Shakespeare’s drama can withstand even the most brazen attack.

Hey OP, turn your puckish attention to posting non-paywalled articles.

Oh lord, when will it stop. Why can't we have nice things, like the classics unmangled?

It couldn't be any worse than the recent Romeo and Juliet with Tom Holland and that black girl who looked and acted like a diesel dyke.

O'Hara wrote and directed the Off-Broadway SHIT. MEET. FAN. this past season, with the starriest Off-Broadway cast you can imagine.
But do notice that it was long forgotten by the time awards season rolled around, probably because it felt in many ways like a ripoff of THE BOYS IN THE BAND, just far less funny.
The Taper marketing team has missed a great opportunity. They could have titled this new production: SHIT. MEET. SHAKESPEARE.
