Hasn't done TV since American Gods which he left in a huff, and pulled the same stunt with Interview with the Vampire later on.
And is his movie ever coming out? It's been in post for ages now. He looks like a grampa here on the set with Mads.

He's wildly talented and has an unparalleled imagination, but he seems to be all but impossible to work with, and he's had a half-dozen or more situations where studios/networks/shows/collaborators walked away from a project with him (or fired him from it) because he was unable to deliver.
I really don't know what the issue is, but it seems to have gotten worse as he gets older. I think at some point he had a go-between, assistant or collaborator who was able to run interference for him and help get things to the finish line, but I don't think that person's around any more.

I wish he had stayed with American Gods. I enjoyed the entire series, but the first season had the strongest sense of whimsy and danger. Too bad Gillian Anderson left with him.

r2 I wish he stayed on as well, but the increase in the budget he was asking for the second season was simply insane and in no way justified, given the middling numbers the show was getting. That was all his ego and nothing more. The Starz execs said hell no, as any sane exec would.
He likes to splurge on those artsy insert shots (see also: Hannibal) and has his roster of divas he works with, hence the cost overruns and Anderson and Chenoweth leaving with him. Very diva-like himself when he doesn't get his way.
