P&G to lay off 7,000 employees...

So, the tariffs are benefitting Americans?

[quote]Procter & Gamble is planning to eliminate up to 7,000 non-manufacturing jobs in the next two years, the Cincinnati-based company announced on Thursday during an investment conference in Paris and in a June 5 blog.

[quote]This comes after P&G said that consumers in the U.S. and Europe pulled back on spending in March amid economic uncertainty as President Donald Trump began his trade wars, prompting the company to lower its sales outlook for the year. The post said the company expects to reduce up to 7,000 non-manufacturing roles or approximately 15 percent of its current non-manufacturing workforce over the next two fiscal years.

Are We Great Again??

AI. And most of these cuts will be early retirement packages.

Early retirement = being laid off.

[quote]Physician Geoffrey Grammer tweeted, "'Pampers diaper maker will slash 7,000 jobs as tariffs fuel uncertainty' - CNN Doesn't sound like winning to me. Sounds like job losses because of a stupid economic strategy. Trump does not know what he is doing."

[quote]Political scientist Joel Montfort wrote, "P & G will cut 7,000 jobs globally over the next two years amid uncertainty caused by President Trump’s trade war. Making America Unemployed Again."

[quote]Attorney Roger Tansey wrote, "Proctor and Gamble, the world's largest consumer products company, is raising prices and laying off 7000 employees because of 'tariff uncertainty.' This is a harbinger of stagflation. Good job, Trump!"

P&G was one of my clients for many years. I was in the ad business. They were some of the smartest and toughest clients I had during my whole career. Top notch professionals. If it is still like that, those people will get hired elsewhere and do big things. 7,000 is a lot of people to me.

I DID THAT!

Does this mean the new "savior" of soap operas, "Beyond the Gates," (produced by P&G) will be canceled? Will new writer Jamey Giddens miss out on Free Pizza Fridays?

AI gonna replace most white collar jobs. AI + tariffs gonna cause bloodbath in job markets in the next few years

Trump's policies are dire and stupid enough to wreak incredible devastation, but...

Also provide an excellent excuse for companies like P & G to slash and burn, albeit to a greater degree than they may have been planning to prior to Dump's tariff announcements.

Other thoughts:

If companies that size are openly claiming to be suffering due to tariffs, 1. does it impact how they manage their donations to political parties, even just while the tariff policies are in place? 2. Will Trump clap back at them? They're making a bold PR choice framing it as they have done 3. What are the flow-on impacts of such cuts and citing tariff policies as the reason for them?

4. How will the average household or small business be impacted if multinationals are not immune to the fallout?

I agree that AI played a role in the lay-offs, but Trump is in a deep pile of shit for a company like P & G to come out with their statement. How long until his blood is officially in the water?

The Tide has turned.

So his blood is in the water, r10?
