From GQ Daily - The lasting high of Jonathan Bailey

Bridgerton viscount. Wicked prince. Shakespearean king. As one of Britain’s most in-demand actors kicks off a blockbuster summer with Jurassic World: Rebirth, he’s still feeling the awe of it all

He's like Glen Powell, but British and gay and able to do legitimate theatre. What's not to love?

Hopefully Wicked and Jurassic World launch him onto bigger and better things. A leading role finally, maybe?

by Anonymousreply 1June 5, 2025 1:24 PM

Absolutely terrible photos

Fire his publicist

by Anonymousreply 2June 5, 2025 2:28 PM

The only photo I like, r2, is the very last one of him in a kilt and the Guinness sweater.

by Anonymousreply 3June 5, 2025 2:30 PM

This guy is almost too good to be true. Happy he is who he is.

by Anonymousreply 4June 6, 2025 9:54 PM

I love him in most everything I've seen. Especially Fellow Travelers. But I agree that these pictures are not the most flattering. His secret power is in his mesmerizing and seductive gaze, which apparently he can summon whenever he is acting opposite someone. (And perhaps in his private life as well). But photographs don't capture that and suddenly all we notice are the same sorts of slight imperfections that we notice right off the bat with other people.

He's really working those eyes in the attached interview

r1 Can Glen Powell sing and dance?

by Anonymousreply 8June 7, 2025 1:18 AM

I've been in lust with him since "Broadchurch."

by Anonymousreply 9June 7, 2025 1:19 AM

He has great legs

by Anonymousreply 10June 7, 2025 1:23 AM

I first took notice of him in Crashing, a tv-series from 2016, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge. At that point I had no idea who he was, but he really stole that show with his charisma, approachable physical beauty, and impish smile.

I've seen him in person. He's tiny tiny. A little pocket person.

by Anonymousreply 12June 7, 2025 4:27 AM

Another vote for Crashing.

by Anonymousreply 13June 7, 2025 4:55 AM

According to all the sources I can find, his height is listed as 5'11 with a weight of about 160. That's not tiny tiny in my book. There are dozens of pictures of Matt Bomer side by side with Jonathan, and they are very much the same height although Matt has squarer head/face and Jonathan's is longer with a pointier chin. Matt Bomer is also listed as 5'11.

by Anonymousreply 14June 7, 2025 6:03 AM

It's like these photos were intentionally basic and mid (with the worst clothing ever, btw) for some reason; I'm sure someone at GQ thought they were being "edgy."

The man can't look bad in anything. He is just genetically blessed and seems also to have a joy and impishness to him that makes you smile. I like that younger generations of gaylings can look to an openly gay actor like this and admire him openly and know that he's family. Bomer too.

5’11” and 160 lbs. would be like malnourished.

I’m 5’11” and I think even the BMI is like 181 lbs.

He must be shorter.

by Anonymousreply 16June 7, 2025 7:29 AM

R12 - Where did you get that info?

by Anonymousreply 17June 7, 2025 7:40 AM

There is a well known photo of Bailey, Bomer, Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott together, which I tried without success to link, but if you search on their surnames it comes up immediately. In the picture the first three are clearly all the same height, which all three list as 5'11" on IMDB. Andrew Scott lists as 5"8". Bailey boasted that in Season 1 of Bridgerton he attained his dream of being 6'1" by means of "heeled Regency boots and a bouffant".

I do suspect John Chu cast actual Munchkins as the background dancers in Dancing Through Life though.

He’s too talented for the Jurassic franchise but I’m glad he’s getting a variety of both prestige and blockbuster roles.

by Anonymousreply 19June 7, 2025 10:38 AM

Doing only prestige roles won't achieve what appears to be one of his aims, which is to be a role model for gay kids around the world and at the same time to break through ancient Hollywood prejudices. He already obliterated "women will never go for an actor they know is gay in a romantic lead" in Bridgerton. Straight men and boys are a (the?) key demographic for the Jurassic Park franchise, so if this movie is a hit when the franchise has been going downhill, and he is embraced as part of that, that's the last big prejudice in the ditch. The fact that he has above the title billing is a big deal in itself.

by Anonymousreply 20June 7, 2025 12:13 PM

Wow he looked really handsome - in the movie posters for ‘’Wicked’’

by Anonymousreply 21June 7, 2025 12:20 PM

Huh? I saw him last year at a small screening of his series and he is easily 5'11"! I am 6'0" and I stood next to him talking about the show, he is not tiny by any means.

by Anonymousreply 25June 7, 2025 4:25 PM

R25 - I have R12 blocked for a reason.

by Anonymousreply 26June 7, 2025 4:27 PM

He can break hearts AND get laughs.

[quote]He’s too talented for the Jurassic franchise but I’m glad he’s getting a variety of both prestige and blockbuster roles.

Considering the franchise includes Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, and Samuel L. Jackson, saying he's too talented for it may be a reach. Rather, he's a significant number of steps up from its most recent male lead, which will hopefully be reflected in the script quality and what he's asked to do.

by Anonymousreply 28June 7, 2025 6:06 PM

Has he been considered for the new James Bond?

by Anonymousreply 29June 7, 2025 6:12 PM

Doubtful. I assume for the same reason that Madden stayed glass closeted several years ago when the entertainment press was sniffing around his "roommate" situation.

by Anonymousreply 30June 7, 2025 6:15 PM

r12 was simply lying.

by Anonymousreply 31June 7, 2025 6:18 PM

I loved it when he and Ariana got buzzed at Wimbledon and Bailey started dancing down the streets of Wimbledon.

Long-term partner?

by Anonymousreply 33June 7, 2025 8:36 PM

Yes, thanks R22.

by Anonymousreply 34June 8, 2025 4:47 AM

With all respect to their talents, R28, Bailey is a better actor than anyone on your list, without even counting that he's a triple-threat. Don't be deceived by his good looks. His pedigree in British theatre is rock solid and it shows in his screen performances. Hell, even Patti LuPone admires him!

by Anonymousreply 35June 8, 2025 5:17 AM

I wouldn’t say that, R35.

R28 left out Julianne Moore, seriously.

by Anonymousreply 36June 8, 2025 6:16 AM

At one time, Jonathan was openly dating James Ellis. But that relationship is apparently over and he's dating someone new but unidentified.

I'll try to link a picture of the two together.

R32, is that dancing? Looks more like prancing. Celebrities who attend Wimbledon should do so discreetly. It’s poor form to show up and take attention away from the players and the matches.

by Anonymousreply 38June 8, 2025 6:17 AM

There was that clip on social media recently of Bailey DEVOURING Zane Phillips with his eyes when they were seated at a table together at some event. The look on Bailey’s face was like “I’m pre-lubed.”

by Anonymousreply 39June 8, 2025 6:19 AM

Meh. He looks at everyone like that, R39.
