U.S. Job Corps Centers to close by June 2025
The Department of Labor announced this week it will pause operations at Job Corps centers nationwide, a move that has already gotten pushback from both sides of the aisle on Capitol Hill.
The department said it will begin a “phased pause” initiating “an orderly transition for students, staff, and local communities.” The pause will occur by June 30.
Job Corps, established as part of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, is a free residential education and job training program for low-income people between 16 and 24 years of age.

Republicans: Kids shouldn't go to college. They should work blue collar jobs
Also Republicans: Let's cut programs that train kids for blue collar jobs

If Congress were a self-respecting institution then this (and a lot of other stuff) wouldn't be happening. This was established by Congress.

Republicans hate America and want its citizens to be destitute.

Every federal program that has helped poor and disadvantaged people in the United States for the past 50+ years, is now being dismantled by Trump.
He really wants to completely demolish every single social safety net program in this country.
It's absolutely heart breaking to watch.

Most people aren't worried about Trump. They think their current little salary or their middle class savings will prevent "ICE" from sending them to a debtors prison in some other country. Sadly, as long as they have power over poorer or less fortunate people, most humans are quite fulfilled in life. Like Elon, they think Trump will just hurt the people they don't like, the "lazy" people, the gross "other". Peak boomer logic.

I honestly I have to continue to pay taxes under these shortsighted, cruel, draconian cuts. Our tax money is strictly for the military #1 or a pipeline to the pockets of billionaires #2. They’re doing away with even the measly crumbs they used to throw our way via services and programs that help regular citizens. Americans still keep voting for Republicans so I guess they like getting screwed out of everything and are happy about it.
