No Henry in sight. Is Mary going into showbiz? Looks like they are saying goodbye to the Abbey.
Downton Abbey 3: The Grand Finale Official Trailer

I'm looking forward to it.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 2, 2025 1:32 PM |
Me too.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 2, 2025 1:48 PM |
Cautiously optimistic but I'll probably end up watching, multiple times, and enjoy disliking it.

Downton Abbey 3: The Big Kiss-Off
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 2, 2025 2:23 PM |
They're making it look like it's all over... probably at most the olds are going on a grand tour and leaving Mary even in charger than she apparently has been for the last two movies and the end of the series.
It's never going away. It prints money. There was a rumour the third movie was in fact the start of a resumption of the series. It'll be back on ITV within two years. Lady Mary and Lady Edith aren't exactly working full time elsewhere.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 2, 2025 3:18 PM |
Since Cora is the only one wearing a hat, she and Robert are probably just coming back from a trip and Robert is glad to be home.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 2, 2025 4:47 PM |
Who is that guy walking next to Mary at the race course? It doesn't look like Branson.
I wonder if they're going to make horse racing/breeding a part of the estate's future? They breed race horses at Highclere in real life, maybe that's part of the visuals.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 2, 2025 4:53 PM |
That "oil" painting of Maggie Smith is garbage.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 2, 2025 4:53 PM |
Finale? Hah!!!
You know they won't be able to resist WWII.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 2, 2025 4:55 PM |
They are not to going to make me cry. Oh they will try....
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 2, 2025 5:09 PM |
I’m fine with whatever they want to do.
As for whether this is just a scam with more movies to follow —the last movie didn’t do too well at the box office, not sure it’s worth the cash to do another or to mount a series.
Unless Mary and Edith decide to run a high end dress shop or something.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 2, 2025 6:42 PM |
I don't think I saw Lord Merton in the preview, I hope he didn't die.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 3, 2025 9:31 PM |
I wanted more shots of the servants. They show Thomas’ lover but not Thomas. Dominic West isn’t going to sell more tickets than Rob James-Collier.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 3, 2025 9:56 PM |
R13... he's there in the group shot just before Grantham kisses the wall.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 4, 2025 2:46 PM |
They'll milk this for two more movies:
Downton Abbey: Requiem
Downton Abbey: Resurrection
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 7, 2025 6:15 PM |
Downton Abbey: Death Vagina 4... in theatres this Christmas.

Lady Grantham Zombie Killer!

[quote] Looks like they are saying goodbye to the Abbey.
I’m betting that Robert and Cora are moving toLady Grantham’s Dower house, now that she has shuffled off this mortal coil. Mary and the heir will turn the house into a commercial venture, thereby ensuring that the films can continue over WWII, the founding of the National Trust and survive the taxation and general beastliness of the post-war socialists who caused such destruction at Wentworth Woodhouse.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 30, 2025 2:24 PM |
As long as she doesn't open a brothel.

I'm hoping for flesh eating zombies to eat them all or Ebola.

R12 They already did a series about two sisters running a fashion house in the 1920s. The House of Elliot ran for three seasons before it was canceled because it cost too much to make.

Long as that cute bottom Branson is in it

And then become the setting for an immensely successful teevee series.

I think this is it for the franchise. Uncle Julian said there were three movies in his overall plan, and while the story could go on (and I'd love to see what they do with WWII, alas) it's all but played out now. If there is any life left, I could see a prequel set in the 1860s - 1890s following Violet's background, introduction to the Earl (Robert's father) and all of her paramours... but filling Dame Maggie's shoes is too much an ask for any actress working today.

Mmm, Branson and his plump, fuckable ass.
*unzips*
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 10, 2025 4:27 AM |
I wish they'd do one final film, where the family gets together to go fishing in 1976, and the IRA blows their yacht to matchsticks, killing them all. And the servants, too.

Rich people whose grandkids would be dead of old age in 2025?
And I’m supposed to care about their fictional problems?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 30, 2025 5:24 AM |
Lady Mary needs to keep Downton afloat and becomes a Madame connecting fresh young ladies with rich old prunes!
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 30, 2025 8:38 AM |
In this trailer from the movie Mary is explaining to Lord Grantham what an apartment (flat) is.
How ridiculous. Would he really not know what an apartment/flat living is like and that people would be living above you and below you and your bedroom would be on the same level and not "upstairs".
SMDH.
Also, looks like a nice apartment to me.

To keep milking this cow: DOWNTON ABBEY "prequels". Choose any decade prior to 1910. It could go on for decades.

Whoa, Brendan Coyle (Mr. Bates) has put on a lot of weight.
Hopefully it means he has quit drinking. I'm thinking eating too much would be less of a detriment to his health and career than drinking too much. Plus now there are weight loss drugs easily available.

They're all going to look like idiots when they start publicizing Downton Abbey 4: The World War II Years.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 30, 2025 6:40 PM |
Andy (Michael Fox) and Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) have been together for a while, since the weekly series. They have a baby boy together. The baby boy Branson brought to Downton as his son at the end of the second movie was Laura and Michael's real son.

[quote] The baby boy Branson brought to Downton as his son at the end of the second movie was Laura and Michael's real son.
Fucking nepos. Another baby could easily have played that role.

Yes but it wouldn't have Edith's distinctive snout, would it?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 3, 2025 8:20 PM |
The male actors in this interview make it sound like there was no love lost between the cast and Lady Carnarvon the real owner of Highclere Castle. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | September 4, 2025 11:25 AM |
This fascist take over is causing me to see things. I thought I saw DL’s favorite closet queen George Clooney in the Downton film.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | September 5, 2025 9:49 PM |
I dont know why they can have the next generation series. Why not? Just react to all the social change from 40s to 60s swinging London.
It writes itself. Lazy fucks. Better than 90 percent of crap on TV. I would watch every spinoff.
And no I'm not joking.

Glad to see that Hugh Bonneville is back to his DILFY self instead of looking gaunt and orange as in the previous movie.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 11, 2025 3:06 AM |
I’m still surprised how they treated Barrow in the first movie when he got caught up in a police raid at a homsensual party. If it were an HBO production he would have been thrown in a dungeon like Oscar Wilde or gay bashed beyond all acceptable open-casket limits.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 11, 2025 3:23 AM |
The actor that plays Edith's husband, Harry Hadden-Paton, is actually from a family of landed gentry. He went to Eton and his godmother is Sarah, Duchess of York aka Fergie.
