Seth Rogan on Tom Cruise

Interesting comment about Katie Holmes

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 55June 3, 2025 11:27 AM

He is evil - he has a lot of Scientologists taking care of his houses for FREE - and doesn't think there's anything wrong with it. He had Nicole Kidman barred from interacting with their kids because she was no longer a Scientologist. Katie Holmes had to flee in the middle of the night.

There's probably tons more stories that have been squashed. I've hated him since the 80s - there was always something off about him.

I've never understood the fandom.

by Anonymousreply 1June 1, 2025 7:24 PM

Because OP is too much of a numbnut to include the allegedly interesting comment about Katie, I assume it was this: In a 2021 appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show — which has made the rounds again following Cruise’s latest Scientology-adjacent headlines — Rogen described a “very absurd” afternoon at Cruise’s house circa 2006, just after the birth of Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter, Suri. Rogen said Holmes had a “vague ‘please rescue me from this place’ look on her face,” which, in hindsight, might’ve been the first red flag.

Rogen and Apatow were there, Cruise wanted 20 minutes to talk about Scientology, Apatow said no, let's talk movies.

by Anonymousreply 2June 1, 2025 7:29 PM

The sheer number of his ratty unconvincing wigs is simply astounding.

by Anonymousreply 3June 1, 2025 7:33 PM

His name is ROGEN, not Rogan.

by Anonymousreply 4June 1, 2025 7:39 PM

Scientology cured my dyslexia!

by Anonymousreply 5June 1, 2025 8:10 PM

To be fair - Tommy has always been looking for something. He went to a seminary in high school for awhile, which makes this even more bizarre.

How the hell could he have gone to a Christian school and learned about the Bible and then go - nah, Xenu is where it's at.

by Anonymousreply 6June 1, 2025 9:07 PM

R4 You going to be ok?

by Anonymousreply 7June 1, 2025 9:11 PM

Now Tammy’s looking Karl Malden-esque.

by Anonymousreply 8June 1, 2025 9:17 PM

Ana de Armas better watch her back.

by Anonymousreply 9June 1, 2025 9:23 PM

Of course the doofus can't just go after a scientologist, already broken in to all their stupidity and bullshit. No, of course, he's got to win over a devout Catholic, cause of course that won't end in tears and screaming and fighting and divorce.

by Anonymousreply 10June 1, 2025 9:25 PM

Never trust a wig wearing man.

by Anonymousreply 11June 1, 2025 11:22 PM

It's weird that more than 25 years after they broke up, Tom and Nicole are both infamous for their love of wigs.

Would anyone have seen that coming?

by Anonymousreply 12June 1, 2025 11:56 PM

It sounds like Tommy needs Rogaine, not Seth Rogen.

by Anonymousreply 13June 2, 2025 12:50 AM

Kidman, Holmes and now de Armas are/were all Catholics. Nicole and Katie have both returned to Catholicism.

by Anonymousreply 14June 2, 2025 1:03 AM

I see his front tooth has wandered back to the middle of his mouth. Also, he's morphed into either Popeye or the Situation.

by Anonymousreply 15June 2, 2025 1:06 AM
I've never understood the fandom.

Yes, he's a creep BUT he makes good movies.

by Anonymousreply 16June 2, 2025 2:49 AM

Creep with a bad rug

by Anonymousreply 17June 2, 2025 2:53 AM

Tommy, you look like a dried-up apple head with beautiful hair - it’s jarring and not in a good way.

Also, you’re pushing 60; gym muscles look goofy on you; find Brad’s trainer. They keep him trim, but not roidy..

by Anonymousreply 18June 2, 2025 2:54 AM

Pushing 60? More like pushing 65!

by Anonymousreply 19June 2, 2025 7:03 AM

That wig is completely fucking laughable, but I think it gets the job done to fool the masses.

As for him almost single-handedly propping up Scientology, I look forward to the day it all comes crashing down. Hope DL is still around then.

by Anonymousreply 20June 2, 2025 10:02 AM
Rogen said Holmes had a “vague ‘please rescue me from this place’ look on her face,”
R2 To be fair, that slightly ambivalent look that can be read one way or another was kind of her trademark.

by Anonymousreply 21June 2, 2025 10:05 AM

I don't think Nicole ever went all in for the freaky cult.

by Anonymousreply 22June 2, 2025 10:12 AM

Of course she didn't, she has those Australian street smarts, she can smell bullshit a mile away.

by Anonymousreply 23June 2, 2025 10:38 AM

All Cruise's money and he's never done anything about those nasty fucked up teeth of his.

And I must say, he's looking particularly ragged these days.

by Anonymousreply 24June 2, 2025 10:41 AM

I've always found his coconut cake stunt highly narcissistic. "If I love this cake, surely all my 'friends' will as well, right? Year after year after year..."

Crazy bastard. We should have nipped him in the bud after he jumped on Oprah's couch. But we didn't and now here we are.

by Anonymousreply 27June 2, 2025 11:25 AM

There’s a ridiculous clip of him that plays before MI:8 where he welcomes the audience to the theater and speaks of how he made the movie just for them. It’s completely unnecessary (particularly when your film is already pushing 3 hours), and narcissistic. Just play the fucking film, already!

by Anonymousreply 28June 2, 2025 11:34 AM

I know a Catholic priest who was in a parish which Cruise's mother and stepfather belonged to. He got to know them well and said they were lovely people. The mother did not like and disagreed with the Scientology, but said nothing because she wished to maintain a relationship with her grandchildren. I asked him what would make Cruise turn to Scientology. He shrugged his shoulders and suggested it was an easy way to maintain a belief. It required him to do nothing beyond giving money.

Clinton was the one who let this cult be raised to the level of a church, so it could get tax exempt status. And it was pressure from Cruise and other donors that applied the pressure.

by Anonymousreply 29June 2, 2025 11:42 AM

I still don't understand how Scientology is classified as a religion R29. It should be classified as a cult. It shouldn't have tax exempt status and it should undergo an open investigation and offer of deprogramming and help for those who wanted to leave.

by Anonymousreply 30June 2, 2025 12:28 PM

Off topic but does anyone else get rapist vibes from Seth Rogen?

by Anonymousreply 31June 2, 2025 12:30 PM

R31, don’t know about rapist, but he always says what you want to hear from him.

I don’t trust love bomb people.

by Anonymousreply 32June 2, 2025 12:59 PM

r30 It was classified as a cult by the French Constitutional Court back when that famous court battle took place. It's only in America that anything goes.

Having said that, I took a Religion in Contemporary Society course at uni and learned that these "cult" designations have been weaponised by major religions to subtly denigrate and marginalise smaller and newer religious movements (often just liberal offshoots of Christianity and Islam), most of them nowhere near as crazy as Scientology. And thus sociologists of religion tend to steer clear of that term, which helps them see and study all religions on a similar level.

by Anonymousreply 33June 2, 2025 1:00 PM

r31 Absolutely not. I think he's cool and I love The Studio and Platonic, which is coming back soon. He can do no wrong in my eyes and I've never heard anything bad about him either. He gets brownie points just for badmouthing Cruise, which so few in the showbiz are willing to do.

by Anonymousreply 34June 2, 2025 1:03 PM

R30, Scientology essentially blackmailed the IRS into giving it tax-exempt status as a religion. The whole thing is described in Lawrence Wright’s book.

by Anonymousreply 35June 2, 2025 1:08 PM
I still don't understand how Scientology is classified as a religion

Is it really any goofier than some of the bullshit that the so-called acceptable religions try to make you believe?

by Anonymousreply 36June 2, 2025 1:08 PM

He looks like a lesbian gym teacher now.

by Anonymousreply 37June 2, 2025 2:23 PM

I've had the cake--it's really delicious. Cruise is not a very good actor---you can see the straining effort---a variation on click, click, click, I guess. He's very pleasant and charismatic on chat shows---I guess that's the one performance he can carry off.

by Anonymousreply 38June 2, 2025 2:49 PM

I've always considered him to be someone who is pretending to be an actor, and most days going way overboard with the pretense.

by Anonymousreply 39June 2, 2025 3:38 PM

I've said this before on here, but the only other actor I can compare him to in terms of drive, ambition, intensity and acting ability is Joan Crawford. Both have always had a seemingly single-minded obsession to succeed in Hollywood at all costs and their attempts to sustain their fame seem to require a significant amount of time and energy. Similarly when acting the strain both put into practicing their craft is palpable to their audience. There is no ease about any performance. There is so much effort put into being 'sincere' that it usually comes off as phoney. Both have about one performance that I appreciate and I suspect it's because they were playing characters very similar to their real life personas for Cruise it's Magnolia and for Crawford The Women.

by Anonymousreply 40June 2, 2025 6:07 PM

I think a Prince Valiant cut would look good on Tom

by Anonymousreply 41June 2, 2025 6:17 PM

I’ve not seen all his performances, but of what I have seen, the only one where it seemed like he was playing a character vs “ACTING!” was Jerry McGuire.

by Anonymousreply 42June 2, 2025 6:28 PM

So Tammy Cruise is against pharmaceuticals, but has no problems with plastic surgery and facial fillers.

Got it.

by Anonymousreply 43June 2, 2025 6:39 PM

R40: Crawford could actually act. Yes, she was grasping and ambitious, but that alone isn't enough and it doesn't negate the existence of actual talent. She didn't have huge range, but she could command a screen. Cruise, in contrast, is just annoying.

by Anonymousreply 44June 2, 2025 7:40 PM

R44 Cruise has done some very good acting. Born on the 4th of July, TAPS, Eyes Wide Shut, A Few Good Men, Magnolia, Rain Man, Collateral, Minority Report.... these are all great.

Something happened after the Nic days where it all started seeming like a big strain and that he HAD to be larger than life in all his roles. No subtlety.

by Anonymousreply 45June 2, 2025 8:22 PM

She started losing her looks, that’s what happened.

by Anonymousreply 46June 2, 2025 9:04 PM

It is rather interesting that both Cruise and Kidman are still both very high profile all these years after their divorce and both are becoming noticably more desperate.

by Anonymousreply 47June 2, 2025 9:10 PM

R45: He's like college sophomore trying to act in almost all of those films

by Anonymousreply 48June 3, 2025 1:48 AM

"Risky Business" is Cruise's peak, and I write that as an admirer of him in some of the movies r45 lists.

In RB, he's young and pre-box office power.

There's an appealing lack of guile and no sense of an ulterior motive in his acting.

As a DLer put it long ago, "Risky Business" is "...Cruise's last honest performance."

He was a fucking dipshit in Top Gun.
but does anyone else get rapist vibes from Seth Rogen?
don’t know about rapist, but he always says what you want to hear from him. I don’t trust love bomb people.

Rogen is another Hollywood phony and the worst kind of hypocrite. When James Franco was #MeTooed, Seth Rogen turned his back and then went on a shameless press tour, acting so shocked and appalled. He made sure to tell everyone that he deleted Franco's number and would never speak to Franco again. They knew each other for decades and came up together, but Rogen pretended to be unaware of what was going on and kicked James when he was down for public brownie points and to keep his own skeletons in the closet. It was quite a disgusting display.

Pineapple Express would not have been a success without James Franco. On his own, Seth is bland and unattractive, and he needed Franco's eye candy to be the contrast to his bloated and slovenly appearance. It's telling that most of Seth's other projects have flopped to hell, and the public quickly realized he was a hack pretending to be funny. He and Judd Apatow are two of the most smug, unfunny and insufferable fucks in Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 51June 3, 2025 9:50 AM

R34 has drank the kool-aid.

by Anonymousreply 52June 3, 2025 9:51 AM
Of course she didn't, she has those Australian street smarts, she can smell bullshit a mile away.

oh please. That bitch was in it for the money. She sold her kids for $75 million divorce settlement. She did not even fight for them. She cared more about her career than her children. She still cares more about her career than all 4 of her children

by Anonymousreply 53June 3, 2025 10:22 AM
It is rather interesting that both Cruise and Kidman are still both very high profile all these years after their divorce and both are becoming noticeably more desperate.

He's nothing compared to her. He at least goes away for a few years between projects. Nicole never goes away

by Anonymousreply 54June 3, 2025 10:25 AM

R49: I recently rewatched as much of "Risky Business" as I could take. I recalled him being more natural there, but his acting is just as bad there as it is anywhere else.
