Cruise has some beliefs I think are batshit insane, but that can be said for most of the world.

An action film starring Tom Cruise is going to be a good action film. The basic plot will be good guy wins, sure, but there will be a lot of creativity in the set pieces. CGI will be used when appropriate, but not overdone. The script will be basic, but decent. Compared to other modern action films that are CGI cartoonish characters making silly jokes every few minutes between long battle scenes, it's so much more enjoyable.

And the man is 62 and still doing all that physical work. That's impressive.

Just the other day I was thinking about how I don't watch many Tom Cruise movies anymore. I've only seen 12 of his films, 11 of them from the 80s and 90s with Top Gun: Maverick being the only one post-Jerry Maguire. I got turned off by him after he got weird in the early 2000s.

I watch the first to Mission Impossible ones this weekend thinking I might check out the new one. They were OK, but I'm just not that into action movies. I really should try to watch some of his more recent stuff. I hear "Collateral", "Minority Report" and "Edge of Tomorrow" are pretty good.

Yes he is short just like Newman, Redford and a lot of other leading men. You don't have to be tall to be attractive and have presence.

At worst, it feels like a deathwish because he's so fucking miserable - locked in with this cult, his daughter and ex-wives want nothing to do with him, a lot of Hollywood thinks he's weird so he has to the Mission Impossible franchise to death because nobody else wants to work with him.

He always seemed creepy and fake to me. I know I'm a minority in this view - straight people eat him up with a spoon. I always found it weird - but straight people are really strange sometimes.

I’ve heard that Tom treats everyone on set with the utmost respect and even makes sure the lowliest grip eats gourmet. He is such a standup guy.
