I’m on Trulicity for diabetes, but it does help me with weight and eating control (I also had barium surgery). I lost about 80 lbs after the bariatric surgery, but plateaued about year ten, even regained some weight and A1C started to creep back up. My NP started me on Trulicity, low dose, and it had minimal effect. Gradually raised me to 3.0mg once a week and that, along with 5-month loss of taste due to COVID, seems to have lowered appetite permanently—lost another 40 lbs and now weigh 205 (down from pre-surgery high of 335). No negative side effects to speak of.

R2 here. Also, I’m 5’11’’, so, while I’d love to get 180 or 190, 205 sits ok. Also, I walk 30-60 minutes three or four times a week. I’m 67

Ozempic linked to 'silent cancer' that is rising in young people as doctors issue shock warning
KIDNEY CANCER!

It seems like most Diabetes related medications are hard on kidneys. Very hard. So take caution as you explore these drugs. I have two friends who are now on dialysis, who were on Diabetes drugs for years.

Semaglutide. Started in February 2024 and pretty quickly lost 20 pounds. Then plateaued but didn’t go back up.
I’m trying to restart since April this year and am down 7 more pounds so far.

I have issues with my GI tract and my pancreas. I was on a very basic drug for pre diabetes, Metformin, and it made me so sick my doctor took me off of it. So now even though I am overweight because of a cancer drug I am on, I am very wary about these new drugs. I'm not sure I want to trigger another mess with my GI tract or mess up my kidneys.

No, nor would I be if I needed to be.
I made a huge mistake in the 90s by using SSRIs for anxiety when my doctor suggested them--I am pretty much addicted for life now. I'm never again doing an addictive undertested OTC drug unless it's for a life-saving situation.

What is your basis for this claim and how do you know the drugs put them on dialysis given that diabetes itself is damaging to kidneys.

Of all the criticisms I’ve heard of GLP1 medications, I’ve never heard of addiction issues. Do you have a link you could share?
