Did anyone finish the NYT Sunday crossword today without any hints?

R1 and r2 = jelly

That was pretty good. But I completed it MUCH faster. Many great people said “Sir, that was a perfect crossword” and it takes a VERY HIGH iq that nobody on the psychotic and terrorist and thug supporting left will ever have. Merry Christmas! MAGA!

Nobody envys the kind of person who uses a word like jelly.

Nobody but the kind of person who couldn't do today's crossword. Like r5.

By no hints do you mean no auto correct? If not, where are these magical hints at!
And yes, I am jealous. If I can get through a Wednesday without auto correct I feel so proud of myself. Wouldn’t even think of that on a Thursday!

Saturday is the hard one

That's right, r7. No autocorrect or looking up clues. I got Saturday's too, of course. But Sunday is always harder.
I'm on a 33 day streak.

Sunday is an easy day. Friday and Saturday are the toughest and most fun. Thursday can be irritating because there’s often a puzzle within the puzzle. Still worth doing however.

Well, OP. I just had to go do the puzzle myself to know if I should be jealous. Took me 46 minutes… with auto check on! I don’t usually look stuff up outside for hints. But yes, I am jealous.
Did like the wormholes once I finally figured that out.

I also made Queen Bee without the hints-- although I did use the grid of remaining words.

It’s understood in the crossword world that, starting on Monday, the puzzles get progressively more difficult each ensuing day with the exception of Sunday, which has the degree of difficulty equivalent to Wednesdays.

Sunday is biggest, but not most difficult. Agree that that goes to Saturday.

I solved Monday's in 3 minutes 27 seconds -- 32 seconds more than my record of 2:55.

My favorite crossword puzzle story - who among us doesn't have one?! - involved a NYC newspaper that resumed publication in the aughts after having suspended some fifty years earlier. The first new issue included answers to the crossword puzzle from a half-century earlier. Just in case a crossword player, stumped by the clue for 15-Down, & determined to finally solve the puzzle, had held on to the old paper all those years later.

I did. I skipped half the clues too.

R16 That, indeed, is a great crossword story.

Today’s Friday puzzle obviously has a gay theme since GAYBAR and two different nail polish brands are answers. Excuse me, while I go pick up my eyeballs which have rolled across the room.
